Good Charlotte

Music doesn't necessary define type of music, i mean, there are slower pop songs that have melodies just like goth, but the diference is that christina or nsync or whatever sings "oh baby baby kiss me" songs, and not about suicide, death, vampyres and stuff like that. The same is with punk and rock. I didn't said they were punk, cause i don't think that, but if that little wh*re avril can say that her music is "guitar driven rock" or "punk" ... now i'm almost close to the heart attack :/ ... then their music can be labeled as pop rock, but with every song is different.
And why do you all keep saying they suck cause they're not punk? If you were really punk, you'd new that it's not all about listening to what's in with other punks but what you want, i mean you can listen to punk and at the same time love britney's music, it's your opinion and no one can tell you it's right or wrong. And if you actually listen only to what others consider punk, your poser for yourself.
GC guys have never said they actually are punk, their fans said that, but if you really don't think it's punk or rock or rock pop, how would you label it? Cause there's not other type of music they would fit into, they are not just pop!
By the way, just wanna say, I love AFI, HIM, The 69 Eyes, Morbid Angel, Eternal Tears Of Sorrow, My Dying Bride, Sepultura, Thrice, Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Murderdolls, Cradle Of Filth, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson, Kiss, ACDC... and I love Good Charlotte and you can post as much messages as you want about them being punk or not, and I'd still love them, cause I don't care if other will label me as goth, punk, rocker, poser or whatever, I'll just fu**in do what I wanna and listen what I wanna and you're stupid for attacking gc guys who actually don't care what other will think, but they're just doing what they like.

Who cares if its punk, pop or freakin country music? All I care is that it sounds good. I'm a big GC fan. But if you don't like GC then why come on a discussion board about them? Rather pointless.
>>By davesmsperfect (Saturday, 7 Feb 2004 18:30)
That question just shows that you haven't read the dozens of posts that we GC-haters have made, answering your ever-repeated question. We come on this discussion board because it's good fun to have a laugh at Good Charlotte and their fans. Personally I get more enjoyment out of spotting the flaws in people's arguments and providing reviews of the songs or whatever... Good Charlotte suck.
>>By Sk8a H8a (Saturday, 7 Feb 2004 19:56)
To All GC fans... Good Charlotte fucken sux,it's all about money, they claim they sing punk(or neopunk, whatever the fuck u wanna call it),and just because one of them has mohawk on his head and they wear punk clothes don't mean shit.they just make of punk fashion, another trend for little kids who just wants to look cool, they are just fucken hypocrats. Message to Good Charlotte-play whatever the fuck u want to but don't claim u are punx, because u are something that punx have been fighting against since they're here. Anarchy and Peace
>>By LiveForChange (Saturday, 7 Feb 2004 20:23)
Live For Change, I like gc, but I don't try to copy the way they dress or try to act like them, why don't you all realise that many of their fans are posers and stuff, but even more are not. I listen to real punk and to metal and goth and whatever. I personally like goth the most, so i don't really care what kinda music they make, i care about the lyrics. Yeah, there are some idiotic (riot girl, lifestyles...) but there are good ones too (hold on, the anthem ... ). By the way, they didn't claim that they're punk, maybe they just like to wear that kinda clothes, and maybe they listen to punk but they just don't play it.
And if you mean to attack my bad enhlish like people usually do, don't bother, cause i don't care, cause i don't live in england and it's just my other language.

And to those who wrote me private messages and asked if i I'm so big fan of them, and wanted to talk about their private life, i'm not a fan and i know nothing about their names, i just like their songs. And someone asked me why i don't leave posts on discusions about other bands i like, it's because it's boring, and on this board I can always find someone to argue with when i'm angry, and that would be almost every day in past 2 weeks... so... Oh, and please, if you don't agree with me stop sending me hate messages cause i couldn't care less, it's just so boring to delete message every time i log in. If you agree with me... do what you like

>>By iva212 (Saturday, 7 Feb 2004 23:42)
People have been sending you private messages about GC? That must be very annoying. Nobody deserves that kind of harassment. If you want me to shut up about GC I can. One less annoyance...
>>By Sk8a H8a (Sunday, 8 Feb 2004 02:11)
Actually it is very annoying when they wanna talk about benji i joels dog... I mean, a girl actually asked me if i'm such a big fan of them, what is theirs dog name, and where did they record first album... how would i know!? ... but whatever.
>>By iva212 (Sunday, 8 Feb 2004 10:51)
Cashdogg, isn't it? See, I hate GC and I know that. Just liking a band doesn't mean you have to know every little detail of their personal life. Okay, so some of my favourite bands I like to know more about them, but that's just interest. God knows I don't care about their dog's name or even where they recorded their first album. That's one of the things I hate about Good Charlotte - most of their fans are sad groupies who have nothing better to do than fantasise about marrying the band members.
>>By Sk8a H8a (Sunday, 8 Feb 2004 16:21)
Yeah, there are bands that are interesting and you want to know more about them... i personally like HIM, and i know stuff about all HIM members... but dog? Why should anyone care about their dogs name...
>>By iva212 (Sunday, 8 Feb 2004 17:39)
iva212 i wasn't talking about fans,i was talking about good chatlotte.good charlotte copy the way punx dress and then everybody think they are punx and then when i ask people if they listen to punk, they are like yeah.when i ask who, guess what they say.even my teacher asked me if my favorite band is good charlotte just because i have a mohawk.i don't divide people to posers and punx.there are fashion punx(who dress like them just to be cool or sing for money) and true punx(way of life).true punx stands against what fashion punx to,so we don't even call them punx.i also remember that once i've seen them on MTV and they were on some concert saying shit to people like"what's up punx". i'm not, don't worry, english is my second language also -;)
>>By LiveForChange (Sunday, 8 Feb 2004 19:10)
i think it's stupid to say you're punk because of some group that is actually played on mtv, but not like you can change it... And i know what being punk is about, but i'm not punk so... and sorry if i insulted you or something, i didn't mean to, i just wish that people would stop saying, and not just for gc, but all bands "they suck cause they're not punk" or whatever... i'm not punk and i just like to listen whatever i feel like so it really pisses me off when someone says something like that...
>>By iva212 (Sunday, 8 Feb 2004 21:44)
I think one of their songs was inspired by the dog or something - see, that's what you get for reading all 23 pages on this discussion board. I now know everything about GC... Or at least everything the fans think is important.
>>By Sk8a H8a (Monday, 9 Feb 2004 19:21)
Yeah, i have their cd, so i think they say somewhere that it is "wondering" ... but i think it is love song...
but why did you read all? i only read like last 2-3 pages...
>>By iva212 (Monday, 9 Feb 2004 20:56)
I think GC used to b a good band and they still have a few good songs but they're sell outs and not real punks. They act like punks, talk like punks, dress like punks, but they're not REAL punks. i agree with what liveforchange said earlier, everyone is now GC crazy and consider them punk. Its so wierd casue i went 2 a concert 4 them and 3/4 the audience was little kids trying 2 b punk. In my opinion dont change and try and b something ur not, just stay the way uve always been!
>>By Missie (Wednesday, 11 Feb 2004 01:05)
I don't think they've ever been really good. They owe their success to the marketed image of being punk. Mainstream punk DOES exist, but it shouldn't be as mainstream as GC. All of their songs are rubbish, ranging from Hold On which isn't too bad (I reviewed it on the previous page if you want a more detailed definition of "not too bad") to the Anthem which is the worst song I have ever heard, including Avril Lavigne's live cover of Chop Suey! by System of a Down. By the way, that song is quite amusing - I suggest you download it. But GC are so untalented it's not even funny...
>>By Sk8a H8a (Wednesday, 11 Feb 2004 11:30)
What really pisses me off about this whole thing is that all of these so-called "punk" bands today are about as sincere as Face To Face were. Before they were Face To Face, they looked like Poison, sounded like 'em too. They just jumped on the punk bandwagon 'cause it was starting to catch on. Now bands like GC, Sum 41, Offspring, Simple Plan(my god they suck), and the like are being called punk bands, but they are little more than pop bands with loud guitar parts. What happened to playing songs so fast that it almost hurt to hear, let alone play. Gimme early to mid 80's hardcore anyday. At least that was real. Do you think that if bands like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Jerry's Kids, Discharge were around today(actually, Discharge still are), they would be as popular as these bands today? No fuckin' way, 'cause they are radio friendly and the others aren't, no matter which way you slice that cake......
>>By kingtim (Wednesday, 11 Feb 2004 16:07)
Where id the name "Good Charlotte" come from? None of them are called Charlotte, and none of them are any good.
>>By Sk8a H8a (Tuesday, 17 Feb 2004 11:56)
To me it sounds like people who know absoulutly everything about only one member of a band is totally sick in the head. Knowing what their favorite foods are, obcessing over their good looks to the point where it's not even about the music anymore, is really god damn annyoing. I know pop stars get mauled by screaming fans and obcessive teenage girls only because of their "good looks" belive me all that "i can relate to what their saying" bullshit is really just a way for them to hid behind the fact that they couldn't give a shit about the music. most of the good charlotte fan sites either have "benji this and benji that, i wanna fuck him so hard cause he's so hot!" I could give a shit less what kind of music good charlotte play. but the whole idea of punk was yeah to not give a shit about anyone's opinion, but it was mostly based on going aginst the masses and down with the mainstream bullshit. good charlotte are the oxymoron of punk rock. 12 year old girls will defend them to the grave, but come on. if this is your idea of hardcore punk rock then justin timberlake might as well have a moe hawk also. because i really can't tell much difference between gc's lyrics and justin's. they both say to me "im lonely, i need to get laid, but hey im a supperstar so it's all good" the clothes gc wore in high school (as seen in some of the pic's) don't give me the idea that they were always "punk" as the claim to be. the look like they were part of the preppy crowd. if listening to big record companies and changing your image and making a profit off of it is the way to go then punk as we know it has died. they totally contradict themselves in the "lifestyles of the rich and the famous" video. they are on tv, they are famous, they probably make more money in one month then i do in a whole 2 years. why are the complaining? they may have had it rough growing up but no one ever said growing up should be a breeze. daddy left them big deal. learn from it don't sit around and cry about it. i just wish people would take the time to relize that nothing is ever good as it seems.
>>By killalltheposers (Wednesday, 18 Feb 2004 07:28)
The point is that Good Charlotte sing about stuff which is popular with other bands. If you say you like Hold On because it's about suicide and you can identify, you've clearly never had a real suicidal experience. The song's just too ambiguous. Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous is hypocritical, Anthem is just plain bad (so what if the other songs are too? Anthem is the worst song I've ever heard) and the rest of the songs are either ridiculous (e.g. Riot Girl) or whiny (e.g. Story of my Old Man). I also understand they don't like their lyrics to be posted on the Internet. Fair enough, I don't want to sing their songs. But do they actually include the lyrics when you buy the CD? Come on, fans of GC, this is your chance to shine! Answer my question!
>>By Flake 1.6 (Wednesday, 18 Feb 2004 15:44)
lol thank u flake 1.6!! i hate hold on cuz its such a naive song that puts everything in rosy lenses or w/e that phrase is...its actually really stupid not to want to put ur lyrics on the internet.... do they just not want people to kno the words to their "music?" its so stupid! anyway yeah i want to know if they print their lyrics in the sleeve of the CD.... ho ho ho.. xashtrayxgirlx

GC is awesome in concert ....ther funny too!
>>By xMuzikXisXLifex (Tuesday, 24 Feb 2004 00:56)
If you like to see some idiots play backing and spitting on stage, I guess GC is awesome in concert. I prefer to say theu are a gimmick, and that the don't give anything live. The few songs I saw of them live were bad done, uninspired and played out of obligation. Back stage, when the dicklickinggroupies were gone they did nothing else then complain about being on the road and having to play live, and ofcourse they blamed all their failure on the equipment (when you just move your lips you can hardly say that the mic failed, for it doesn't record any mimmick).
This band seems to hate its own fans, when you hear the members talk about the fans. They surely hate to give something to the fans!!!!!
In my humble and sober opinion GC (together with blink 182 and Sum 41) is the most obsolte and redundant band I have heard and seen in years. I prefer the spice girls and leave the band Kittie out of consideration, since I haven't heard their records, only saw shots of a live show of them (which sucked btw) on tv.
>>By Campking (Tuesday, 24 Feb 2004 11:48)
You forgot another stupid GC song, Flake 1.6.
"girls and boys". Now this is pure shit. girls don't like boys girls like cars and money, boys will laugh at girls when they're not funny? WTF is that?
Those lyrics are as childish sounding as avril lavigne's.
And they have what, 6 singles off of that one cd? Looks like they can't think of any more "music"/shit to write. Maybe they will be gone soon ::throws confetti::
P.S. killalltheposers made a good point.
>>By Knoxville grl (Thursday, 26 Feb 2004 00:52)
i think good charlotte is a really kool band. they dont make music just for the awards they make it for their fans and because they LOVE to do it. people dont like them because they think they are posers. well news flash gc never called themselves PUNKS or anything like that, its just music. so dont run ur mouth (talking to the people who dont like gc) unless u really know the guys. then tell us what u think.by the way dont put messages on here if u are gonna put the band down because this is for FANS only!!! and u guys are just making urself look stupid!!!
>>By krystal (Thursday, 26 Feb 2004 01:40)
all the girls like benji, joel, and billy (i like all of them) but every girl that is in love with billy (so they say) they are dead wrong I AM THE ONLY GIRL WHO IS IN LOVE LOVE LOVE WITH BILLY and no one else can beat that :)
>>By krystal (Thursday, 26 Feb 2004 01:50)
everyone makes me sick!!! they never said they was punk and they have never tried to be punk and all the gc fans that say there punk obviously arent true fans because of the fact that on their dvd they say their not punk so dont keep it up by saying they are!!! Krystal Loves Billy and Good Charlotte
keep representing gc' cause you know were always representing you guys!!!
>>By krystal (Thursday, 26 Feb 2004 01:57)
by the way dont put messages on here if u are gonna put the band down because this is for FANS only!!! and u guys are just making urself look stupid!!!
Can you show me the exact position where that is written, Kristal? For I must have missed it.
I saw in your profile that you have a job in a musicstore, does this mean that you sell cd's and records on a dayly basis, of the you sell instruments? If it is the first I would love to have the precise location of this shop, so I can make sure that I never by accident might stumble in. There is no way that I wanna be in a recordstore where the people behind the counter only care for one band, and are so shortsighted that they only listen to one band. Especially when this is one of the most obsolete bands of the last 20 years. Even R'n'B has more right of excitence then this whole band (and I don't even consider R'n'B to more then rythm, it surely ain't music).
YOU ARE IN THE BEST PLACE TO BROADEN YOUR HORIZON, BUT YOU KEEP STARING AT YOUR FEET!
