Can't wait till sk8ter girl gets kicked again. And when GC just disapears.

>>By Emoboy2.0   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 02:32)

I agree with Sk8er H8er...GC isnt really doing anything to get rid of their bad name. They obviously like the whole popstar lifestyle and having mindless shallow teenybopper fans calling them hot and things like that.

Don't worry Emoboy, GC WILL disappear because, like every other singer or band on mtv, they get old very quickly. GC will be gone and forgotten, and then we'll have to prepare for the next set of assholes to call themselves punk.

>>By Knoxville grl   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 03:34)

By the way, I thought Rancid hated GC. Why the fuck is benji in the new Rancid video??? And might I also ask what the fuck kelly osbourne is doing there as well?

This is very disappointing.

>>By Knoxville grl   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 03:36)

omg..

i luv dat rancid video! "falling down" rite?? omg dat song is lyke my fav song i luv it! benji from GC lookz sooooo freekin hott in that vid especially wen tha camera does a closeup of his face with his lip piercins! OMG!

i luv gc theyr songz rawk!

Avril 4 punk prezzie wezzie!

>>By ~Sk8er Gurl~   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 03:44)

The Rancid song is called "Fall Back Down" you stupid poser. You do not like that song you only like the video because your precious benji is in it. Fuck him. I can't stand GC.

It's people like you and GC and avril that give good bands a bad name. Down with GC and long live Rancid. Tim Armstrong is the greatest and he makes benji look like shit.

Has anyone seen the GC video for girls and boys or whatever its called? that guy billy doesnt even look like he's playing his guitar! he doesnt really strum it, he just smacks it or whatever the fuck he's doing. trying to look all hardcore I guess. If you're gonna play the guitar in a video then at least LOOK like you're strumming it, asshole.

>>By Umberto257   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 03:50)

hmmmm....
i agree
well i still like there music
even if its poser-punk

>>By jack_is_hot7   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 04:04)

Umberto, you make me laugh. I agree with you that Tim armstrong is the greatest. But do you realize that he loves GC, and thats why Benji is in the video. I've read numerous articles of tim saying how much he likes GC, Simple plan, and all that good stuff. Tim is the greatest because he doesn't gotta talk shit on everyone to make himself sound punk. Your an idiot dude. Rancid sticks up for all the people you guys put down. They call people like you "kiddy punk" And they don't take you seriously. Thats why rancid will always be the greatest, cause they stick up for the underdogs, and hate all you "punker than thou" assholes. Oh, and jack_is_hot7, you tell em. Stand your ground. Stay cool.

>>By Jonny   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 07:16)

I don't like Rancid either?
Give me the new bomb turks.......

>>By Campking   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 08:14)

I don't like Rancid either?

i agree with Campking on this one... since when did Rancid become the Zeus on the punk rock Mt Olympus? i respect the band but mostly because they've stuck together so long not necessarily for their songwriting capabilities (if they even do write their songs now-a-days). it seems to me that they're just a punk music factory now that keeps making music cause they know kids will buy it just b/c they're Rancid. but viva la Ruby Soho. that song will always make me feel good.

by the way Campking who would you call the first punk band ? cause i hear a different band every time i ask

>>By LaLaLaLeisa   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 09:49)

Sk8er Gurl, you're back? I say that it's 3 days before you're GONE again.

Yes, all those people who say that they're "more punk" than everyone else simply cuz they shop at thrift stores and tear up their clotes. I'm not putting that style down, because it's awesome and what not...but a lot of the time (not ALL the time!!) but a lot of the time those people tend to get big headed and think that they are "punk Gods" or what not. Punk isn't about showing off or being "punker" than everyone else.

and YAY for Rancid!!!

>>By punk_child_8713   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 12:06)

lyke OMG GC and so hatt!!! Have u seen Joel? I mean, lyke DROOL!! He's lyke, so punk rawk! Look at his tattoos man!! GC are hawwttt!!! PUNK RAWK 4EVA!

>>By PuNkRaWkEr223   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 12:24)

Lalalaleisa, I never mentioned the first Punkband, this is anyways hard to find out, since punk was already in the hackersculture before the media got hang on it.. the names I dropped so far were bands I like...
as far as for the first punk bands I can think of, I think of UK Subs (for being still together), but I also regard the Stooges as Punk, or I might think of The exploited, they surely weren't the first either... infact I should ask my brother this, and promise I will get back on that for you.....

Tattoo's isn't PUNK, especially not when you paid big bucks for them: a really PUNK would make them himself... But then most punks also used to have a brain and would be able to write in decent English.....

(to cover myself: my native language isn't english, so I hope you all can forgive me my mistakes.....)

>>By Campking   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 16:55)

The New York Dolls, and Iggy and the Stooges are widely seen as the roots of Punk (still not necessarely Punk), The Who's: My Generation could also be named punk, but then the Who surely weren't Punk......

Hope this gives you a start......

>>By Campking   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 17:14)

For those who don't know the Dolls:

The Dolls made Gary Glitter look presentable. Wearing disheveled wigs , smudged lipstick, stilted platforms, painfully tight lurex pants and crimpoline dresses they combined Iggy's anarchy, Lou Reeds brutality and street sense and invoked the three minute pop song with the excitement it was originally conceived. With this sort of attitude they raised hackles everywhere.

Formed in 1972 they quickly made an impact .They may have had a fat lipped jagger look-alike and a junked up guitarist and all the while the band looking like brickies in drag but nothing could compare to the mascara massacre of Bad Girl, Frankenstein and the spiteful Vietnamese Baby. The Dolls were outrageous. Thunders falling off stage, shooting up when shoved back on stage, Sylvain Sylvain toppling off his stack heels, Johanson gobbing at the audience before spit was taken as a complimentary greeting. Their first drummer died from an overdose in London in 72 after one too many night of excess leaving Jerry Nolan to step on drums and later punk history with The Heartbreakers. As like so many USA bands we took them to heart with them playing at Wembley Stadium with The Faces and appearing on the Old Grey Whistle Test music programme to the obvious distaste of it presenter Bob Harris.

>>By Campking   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 17:15)

Maybe even MC5 were the first

>>By Campking   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 17:16)

PuNkRaWkEr223, I suspect you're not being serious, just as I did when I read Sk8er Gurl!!! (now ~Sk8er Gurl~)'s first post. ~Sk8er Gurl~, since you will probably keep coming back even if your account gets deleted again, please stop being such a loser and don't send me any more funny messages.
Does anyone know if the guys in GC are in any side project bands? If they are, the collapse of GC may spark the side projects into fame. So even though it will take a miracle to save GC itself after their next album comes out (and I seriously don't believe God deals in miracles for poser-pop-punks), we may see one or more of the member's in a comeback. There's nothing like a has-been or a washed-up pop star to promote a side project. Perhaps they'll change their look and return in a different style, but then perhaps once their gone they'll be gone for good. I can't say I appreciated their style, but it's almost dead so no worries. Please come back true punk!

>>By Sk8er H8er   (Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003 18:07)

i still love you jonny!!!

Good Charlotte is cool

>>By jack_is_hot7   (Thursday, 18 Sep 2003 23:54)

Ahhhh man! They deleted my hip hoppa-ness!

It's cause I'm white!

Anyways, GC is perfectly okay. Nothing to freak out over. I hate when people try to label punk. You can't label punk. Punk started because people neede a place to get away from all that. So stop trying to say what's punk, and what isn't.

>>By Jonny   (Friday, 19 Sep 2003 00:27)

These days you can label anything, including punk. Don't label GC punk though. The only reason you think punk is better than pop is because punk lasts. Most GC fans are posers who follow the real fans into labelling it punk. GC is pop, and just because you're a GC fan who claims to hate pop doesnt mean that GC is punk. You love your precious pop-poser-punk bands so much that you call them punk just to create the impression that they will last. They won't, as anyone who knows modern music can clearly see. It may be wrong to say what is punk and what isn't, but GC definitely isn't because punk bands try to have the least poser fans, which is the opposite of what GC are doing.

>>By jack_is_hot7   (Friday, 19 Sep 2003 04:26)

Sk8er H8er, I never said I liked GC. I could really care less about them. But, when I see crazy extremists like you, I get frustrated. I don't think GC destroys punk, I think you do. Your so quick to judge, and label, but at the same time, you would get pissed if someone did the same to you. I do think GC is pop rock. But who cares! And saying that punk band try to have the least poser fans? Thats just funny. Why would a band make crap music just to keep posers away. If they were that worried about it, They wouldn't even start a band. Bands don't make music to keep away posers, they play to make music.

Your right, GC won't be around forever, But either was the clash, or even operation ivy, and those are two of the best old punk bands that existed. Oh, and you can label whatever you want. But whats the point?

>>By Jonny   (Friday, 19 Sep 2003 07:11)

I vote the Clash.
