Hey, just bought Love Metal. I have to say I really like the music, its very strong. But Ville's voice is rather weak and high-pitched. I don't know whether its only on this album, but I was disappointed. The song I thought the best was Circle of Fear, basically because his voice sounds the best. The musicians are fantastic, but the lack of strength in the lead's voice leaves a lot to be desired.

I love HIM Ive got Love Metal n Love said No but you have not met a fan until u meet my best m8 hannah she'll tell you everything bout HIM and Ville Valo she even knows wot his favorite beer is!!!!!!!! And I wouldnt say to her that his voice is a bit dodgy but personally I thought it was better than the earlier stuff it has more emotion in it like he's experienced more since the last albums it shows through in his voice

so many topic changes!!!! well either way, lucky ppl who're goin to the concerts, im jelaous

>>By Cookie8Monster   (Friday, 11 Jun 2004 07:07)

His voice is very emotional, which works really well with the type of song he's singing. It's not what I'm usually into, but, hey, diversity is good.
sweet 666 godess has to be their biggest, or most vocal fan - check out The Rasmus page to see how vocal!

>>By Jaxx   (Friday, 11 Jun 2004 10:12)

I just got into HIM through a friend of mine. The lyrics are really good... and I love powerful love songs. It's great when you hear a song and you can identify with it, eapecially if it's powerful because you can sing along and really feel the emotions there.

I totally agree with you i_love_lauri.
the songs have more of an indepth meaning when you can relate to them either in a positive or negative way. which ever way is fantastic and i'm sure thats the best reward a musician could possibly achieve.
xXx

If only Australians would get off this R&B bandwagon ... Then maybe, just maybe, we'd have better bands heading our way!

whatever happened to sk8a h8a??

>>By Cookie8Monster (Sunday, 13 Jun 2004 21:56)

Well, HIM were rude to Oomph! So I had to protest with my absence for a bit. Some people keep it real after they get famous, but others just lose respect and don't even make an effect in their music. There have been no major changes in HIM recently. Why can't they vary their music a bit?

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Wednesday, 16 Jun 2004 14:27)

dey don't vary there music bcos thats the whole point of him dey are love metal so dehr music is going to be the same 4 example blink havent changed dehr sound but that's how we relate to dehr music cos they have there own particular sound like HIM, but really i shouldn't even compare Blink to HIM dehr in totally different music categories. Ah i love my view on everything
luv kinky_shaz_loves_himxxxxx

>>By shazza_binks   (Wednesday, 16 Jun 2004 15:48)

haha yeah shazza. sk8a, you're right they could vary their music a bit but i like their music style and i dont want them to change it :) what d id they say about Oomph!?

>>By idontknowdotcom23   (Wednesday, 16 Jun 2004 21:05)

Blink 182 have changed a lot, and in my opinion they have changed for the worse. HIM are still just the same... Check out old Metallica stuff compared to new songs - they've changed a lot and it gives a great variation. HIM will never expand their fanbase and people will get fed up of them if they don't write some original songs. Surely they can broaden love metal play something a little bit different, to catch people's attention again.
I don't think they said anything about Oomph! It's what they said to Oomph! that I resent. And how they treated them. Read the quote in my comment on the last page to see.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Wednesday, 16 Jun 2004 23:34)

(next part is totally irrelevant to this discussion, so if u hate that dont read) blink 182 have changed all too much and their voices are annoying
even if HIM changed they would still sound good cuz Ville has the most beautiful voice

>>By Cookie8Monster   (Thursday, 17 Jun 2004 03:29)

Oh, that's exactly what I'm trying to say. Their voices have actually changed gradually - they didn't sound so bad at first but now they sound like a complete rip-off of Nirvana. And that's exactly what they are - Nirvana without the awesome lyrics, cool music and interesting voice. Okaeey, so I know that's not Nirvana at all, but Blink 182 are basically a downgrade from Nirvana.
Anyway, in order to make all that relevant to HIM, I suspect that one day HIM will spawn bands like Blink 182 (except not like Blink 182, because if they're ripping off HIM they'll just be love metal downgrades) and really bad versions of HIM cannot be a good thing. However, HIM will not be able to give birth until they mature a bit, if you know what I mean. Nobody's going to get properly inspired by them unless they develop their music and have a bit of variance. They may still sound good, but they're boring me. I like Ville's voice but it's so unoriginal! Check out System of a Down - that's what I call crazy vocals.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Thursday, 17 Jun 2004 12:32)

Yeah, ur right. I love HIM but they do get a bit boring after a while. It would be good for them to vary their sound a bit, at the moment all their songs are kind of the same. And no Blink 182 are not at all like nirvana.

>>By fish4ever   (Thursday, 17 Jun 2004 15:13)

I agree, although I have not listened to any albums. I once wanted to buy some of their albums, but I got a little tired after a while. They're good, but they're not that good. I need some variety in my life, if I got an album, I likely wouldn't listen to it for long.

>>By CÆT   (Thursday, 17 Jun 2004 18:18)

I only bought "And Love Said No" - it's not very interesting, I'm afraid. I like some of the songs though... they're quite good, I guess. I won't say they're really not my thing because they are sort of. Oh well.
