No, the best band are the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Don't you think the title should go to someone with quite a few albums and a more varied sound?

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Tuesday, 2 Nov 2004 10:17)

muse do have a varied sound. I have to say tho, the chillis are one of the greatest bands ever, but muse are personally my favourite band. And the frontman is the cutest guy in the world...Matt Bellamy..mmm. hehe

>>By devon_girl   (Tuesday, 2 Nov 2004 18:59)

There is really no point in arguing over who is the best band in the world. You can argue over who is the most original in the world, or over the best band in a particular genre, but there is no argument anyone could ever possibly give for what makes one band the best ever. I KNOW it's Radiohead but I can't prove it, so I'm not gonna try.

>>By Flagg   (Tuesday, 2 Nov 2004 21:33)

no no no no no no Muse is the greatest band of all time and if you need proof its ezy.....just listen to their albums and go to their concerts :P
And yes Matt is a god.

>>By muse junkie   (Tuesday, 2 Nov 2004 22:04)

I've listened, I've judged, I'ved sold my soul to Thom Yorke. You're too late.

>>By Flagg   (Tuesday, 2 Nov 2004 22:12)

Everyone has there own opinion about who the greatest band of all time is. To me it's Muse, and to you it's Radiohead, who are awesome but I still absolutely love Muse.

>>By Mrs. James Howard   (Wednesday, 3 Nov 2004 01:32)

I think Radiohead and Muse are both really awesome and theres no point in fighting about which is better ne more. Each one has aspects that make them unique from each other and no 1 can judge which is better. Although I have to say I think Muse is more rockish and Radiohead is more....more....pass the j pls.

Buy it back Flagg and then re-sell to Matt Bellamy.

>>By muse junkie   (Wednesday, 3 Nov 2004 06:15)

ok - i think Flagg makes a point - everybody thinks the best band in the world is the one they love, like for me its Tool - but i can see that Muse is a great band - and i think we should all just agree to disagree.

>>By nite nite   (Thursday, 4 Nov 2004 05:21)

Yeah you're write nite nite we should all just agree to agree that its Muse lol
so who's going to the earls court gig?

>>By muse junkie   (Friday, 5 Nov 2004 01:13)

Perhaps Muse are not the best band in the world. Metallica are better.

>>By Bitch Fit   (Friday, 5 Nov 2004 16:15)

Oh! im goin to earls court gig. Its like the best christmas present ever!!!!!!

>>By devon_girl   (Friday, 5 Nov 2004 18:54)

I know someone who is.

Muse Junkie - ok I'm not gonna argue. Muse's albums are variations on one style. Radiohead's are all totally different. Radiohead write better songs, although Muse may be more dynamic on stage. I can't say since I've seen neither band live. And...

Oh wait, I AM arguing. Haha, s'pose it's just in my nature. Muse aren't the best band ever.

>>By Flagg   (Saturday, 6 Nov 2004 13:18)

How long r their concerts usuall?

>>By Mrs.Bellamy   (Sunday, 7 Nov 2004 03:54)

>>By Mrs.Bellamy   (Sunday, 7 Nov 2004 03:55)

i dont know how long the gigs go 4 - not long enough :)
lol - when they plyed here a bit back, it really didnt seem that long, but sum1 told me it was . . .

>>By nite nite   (Sunday, 7 Nov 2004 10:44)

i was just no help lol sorry

>>By nite nite   (Sunday, 7 Nov 2004 10:44)

i dunno how long the gigs usually are, but wen i saw them at the v festival this year their set was 90 minutes, but it maybe longer at a proper gig cos that was a festival with loadsa other acts to fit in as well

>>By devon_girl   (Sunday, 7 Nov 2004 17:16)

They're not long enough :( But they're brilliant.
Flagg - stop arguing and accept that im right ;)

>>By muse junkie   (Monday, 8 Nov 2004 05:11)

Ok Junkie. I know Muse are better really.

Or to put it another way.... they're not. Do you deny that their albums all sound essentially the same? I WANT an argument, that's what this board is here for. 8D

>>By Flagg   (Monday, 8 Nov 2004 22:37)

I definitely deny that their albums sound essentially the same. As I've said b4 listen to Unintended (off Showbiz) and then Stockholm Syndrome (off Absolution) and there's your variety.
And u're right, Muse are better really ;)

>>By muse junkie   (Wednesday, 10 Nov 2004 01:28)

their music isnt all the same. They do sum similar songs but muse junkies right unintended and stockholm syndrome are very different and if u listen to those bak to bak u cant say their music is the same after that.

>>By devon_girl   (Wednesday, 10 Nov 2004 20:59)

I said essentially the same, not every single song sounds the same. The albums aren't radically different, there's no experimentation like with Radiohead. Of course Unintended is different from Stockholm Syndrome - all bands have their mellow songs and their heavy songs. I mean the albums as wholes sound similar.

>>By Flagg   (Wednesday, 10 Nov 2004 21:52)

Ok Flagg maybe Showbiz and Orgin are 'slightly' similar BUT Absolution is a whole another story.
And since when is "radical difference" a good thing?

>>By muse junkie   (Thursday, 11 Nov 2004 01:00)

There's always going to be a certain amount of superficial similarity from album to album, especially since the band has such a distinctive sound, and they do bear a superficial resemblance to Radiohead (but then, they also bear a superficial resemblance to the Smashing Pumpkins too...oh dear god, what have I started :), but then, you're not really comparing like for like - Radiohead are 6 albums into their career, Muse are only 3 albums in, and there really was very little experimentation until OK Computer, and even then it tended to stick to the radio-friendly side of experimentation.

If you were to compare Pablo Honey with The Bends on a first listen, you could draw a lot of superficial (I like that word - can you tell?) comparisons - but that was just the course of Radiohead growing into their sound. Muse are doing the same thing - their songwriting abilities have come along leaps and bounds since Showbiz, as well as their technical abilities (if you listen closely, you can actually hear Matt Bellamy singing with restraint on Absolution :)

Best band ever? Well, ever is a long long time. Tell you what, let's all meet back here in 50 years time and see who we're talking about then %) Until then, I'm happy listening to both.

>>By brightwhitelight   (Thursday, 11 Nov 2004 20:10)

Fair enough. I think that's about the most sensible thing anyone's said so far. I s'pose Radiohead/Muse is an unfair comparison - but I stand by what I said, I just can't really give an argument to back it up now. Never mind.

>>By Flagg   (Thursday, 11 Nov 2004 22:36)

Yeah...what brightwhitelight said....and Uno....i love Uno

>>By muse junkie   (Friday, 12 Nov 2004 01:01)

How much Radiohead have you listened to Junkie?

>>By Flagg   (Friday, 12 Nov 2004 19:51)

yay brightwhitelight is awesome I believe that he has just about ended the Muse/Radiohead comparison war that has been brooding for the last many months. Happy day
