Well SK8a H8a if people do not listen to lyrics that's their problem. they don't know what they are missing! And if they want to behave as ignorants... it is their call. Fortunately, there are some that have the ability to see beyond "Ooh Ooh in the shadows" and can understand the lyric in its full meaning. I agree with you about "funeral song". But I have not listen to the rest of the album.

>>By moonflower   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 16:09)

The songs are alright. They'll probably grow on you, like a genital wart...

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Tuesday, 25 May 2004 16:49)

since rasmus is also a finnish band i've come to a decision to tolerate it...

>>By HY -   (Friday, 28 May 2004 23:17)

I consider that to be racism... I tolerate the Rasmus because some of their songs are good. On the whole, Dead Letters is a reasonable album. But it's varied.

>>By Flake 1.6   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 02:49)

Well, the jury has returned it's verdict. I think the songs on Dead Letters are very varied, and so are my opinions about each one. I agree with you Sk8a H8a that In the Shadows is very different to all the others, but different doesn't necessarily mean bad. Sorry if I offend anyone but I really find First day of my life funny - it seems to be two songs combined. Of all the other songs I find Still Standing and Guilty to be the most catchy.
I'm not sure about the song Ice that Sk8a H8a spoke of, might be a different album.
The beginning of Guilty sounded slightly like In the End by Linkin Park - the part with the keyboard ar least. Actually a few parts in different congs sounded Linkin Park-ish, without Mike Shinoda's "rapping", and Lauri's voice is at times like Chester Bennington, although the overall music is different.
Hmmm.... well I think I'll keep listening to it, at least till a better album comes out. Later.

>>By Jaxx   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 09:36)

I only like one song by them, In the Shadows. Its all right.

>>By Deutschland058   (Monday, 31 May 2004 19:25)

Yeah, Ice is from an earlier album. It's not very good... there are some other really bad old Rasmus songs. Not worth checking them out, in my opinion. Overall, Dead Letters is a good album, especially compared to their old stuff. I find that the Funeral Song sounds like Elvis Costello. Jaxx: Which songs do you think are Linkin Park-ish? I like the frst part of First Day of my Life, but it gets a bit worse... still, it's a cool song. Back in the Picture is a bit too poppish for me, but it's alright. The album is so varied!

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Monday, 31 May 2004 20:01)

I think The Rasmus are a pretty rocking awesome band. They should have come to England sooner and possibly without the song 'In The Shadows'... it's kind of bad compared to rest of their work. I think their best songs are; 'Chill', 'Bullet', 'One & Only' and 'Last Waltz'. But in saying that I do think the rest of their work is pretty good. Oh and I'm so glad they replaced their old drummer with Aki - hes so cute! That and he has such an interesting way of playing. I think their album 'Dead Letters' is ok 'Into' was better but I guess 'Dead Letters' has a nice variation of dark and lighter rock, personally their pop-ish songs should have been BURNED ¬¬ but meh...

>>By PatchworkDove   (Monday, 31 May 2004 23:13)

I like variation, and the reason most of their older work isn't a bit like their more recent stuff is that THEY'VE BEEN TOGTHER FOR NEARLY TEN YEARS!! Sorry. But it annoys me when people hear one song from a band and think 'Oh, yay, all their songs should be clones of this one but in a different key or with different lyrics.' People change! They were 16 when they started out, they're all 25/26 now. Plus the drummer thing. Yeah. Okay, rant over. I wanna say thanks to Chris for introducing me to The Rasmus cos they are YAY! Um... they're hyvä. Sorry. I get a little over-excited.

>>By i_love_lauri   (Tuesday, 1 Jun 2004 17:19)

Sorry to double-post but my favourite song by The Rasmus has to be 'still standing'. Then again, this could be to do with my fixation with aurora borealis.......... I HAVE to go to Finland one day to see it! *cries*

>>By i_love_lauri   (Tuesday, 1 Jun 2004 17:24)

Waag! Amy... its you *_* you need to calm down. We can't go to Finland until after college, plus we still need to learn how to speak Finnish... thats going to be interesting -.-
But I do get your point about their earlier work and their old drummer *shudders*. Oh remember when we went to see them live, I'd surprised if you didn't seems as it was only a few weeks ago ¬¬ but yeah, it rocked, they really play up for the crowd, if any one ever gets the chance to see them GO! It will rock your socks.

>>By PatchworkDove   (Tuesday, 1 Jun 2004 17:37)

i dont think the Rasmus are amazing but they do have alot af talent!!! but the thing is theyve went on to the HITS and channels like that instead of what i would call the better channels for fame like Scuzz and Kerrang!! what do youz think?

>>By KinkyQueen   (Tuesday, 1 Jun 2004 17:44)

Dont they show them on Kerrang or Scuzz? Thats odd, well if they only appear on HITS or what ever then that is kind of a slap in the face. Then again you do get HIM, Linkin Park and other rock bands on channels like that too. You sure they dont appear at all on Kerrang or Scuzz KinkyQueen or did I get the wrong end of the stick?

>>By PatchworkDove   (Tuesday, 1 Jun 2004 18:22)

actually they do appear on kerrantg and scuzz....and its fukin annoying

Hey, I've tried to post twice now, but my computer goes haywire, so I'll make it short. Sk8a H8a: I think the song Guilty which opens with a piano/keyboard intro is similar to the piano/keyboard part in In the end. Lauri (don't know his last name)'s voice is in some ways similar the Chester Bennington's - they both have a large range and depth, and both can sing forcefully (ie. almost yell) without losing control of the song. I guess the half -arsed answer is that they are in some ways similar, whilst being completely different - no Mike Shinoda, electronic parts. But I still like them.

Is it just me or does Eero (the bass player) have really scary eyes? He's got this weird creepy glare...

>>By PatchworkDove   (Thursday, 3 Jun 2004 12:58)

Yes, I agree, but then you rant about that all the time! Lol. I don't think anybody else has noticed... does anybody here live in Finland? Or have ever been to Finland?

>>By i_love_lauri   (Friday, 11 Jun 2004 14:01)

My dad's from Finland. but he's lived in Australia for years. I'm waiting to win the lottery to go there! ;)

>>By Jaxx   (Saturday, 12 Jun 2004 05:50)

Heh heh heh. Scary eyes... yes. Finland is such an under-rated and very cool country. I have to go there, I don't care if I have to be a wondering whore I will get there eventually!! Well... maybe England isn't that bad, no... it is but I think I'd rather stay here than sleep with random truckers until I get to Finland lol. Hm, maybe I should mention The Rasmus now... they are so damn cool.

>>By PatchworkDove   (Saturday, 12 Jun 2004 16:00)

what i said be4 was actually wrong sortta but what i meant to say was that they come on channels like that Hits alot more than they come on Kerrang and Scuzz!!!
Sorrie!!

>>By witchy_b****y!   (Saturday, 12 Jun 2004 16:39)

>>By witchy_b****y!   (Saturday, 12 Jun 2004 16:41)

i love the rasmus...ever since i heard in the shadows i was hooked...not to mention the lauri ylonen...the lead singer is really hot...i went out and bought the c.d and it is awesome....they are one of my favorite bands...and to have made it from finland thats...even better...

>>By deaths_avenger   (Tuesday, 15 Jun 2004 00:59)

i think hes actually quite ugly coz he has a square shaped jaw and whats with the feathers in the hair thing??

>>By witchy_b****y!   (Tuesday, 15 Jun 2004 17:47)

Striking might be a better word for Lauri than hot.

>>By Jaxx   (Thursday, 17 Jun 2004 01:59)

Lauri is quite cute but personally prefer the drummer Aki.

>>By PatchworkDove   (Friday, 18 Jun 2004 23:49)

I that who you named your cat after? That's obvious - of course you did. Now I know where the name comes from. It's Finnish, right?

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Saturday, 19 Jun 2004 00:10)

who named their cat after Aki??

>>By witchy_b****y!   (Monday, 21 Jun 2004 17:37)
