Normally i would give them a chance....but i just cant, they dont seem to be doing the same thing as any other"punk" band, and of my friends that like them(they all happen to be girls) they say its because all the guys from Gc are hot...No mention of misical ability whatsoever....

I think that Good Charlotte is a very good band. I will admit there first CD was the best, but the other three (life, death, hopeless) were okay. I think that they do have musical talent. Joel and Benj can sing very well, Billy is wicked at the guitar, paul is a good bassist, Chris is a good drummer. They may consol themselves with the money they earn but they deserve it. There music can be easy to play, but the lyrics are really good. Except for a few, i mean i am dissapointed about there new video but that doesnt mean u should stop liking them. They are still my favorite band. They make a lot of sense in "Hold On, Emotionless, SOS, Thank You Mom" And all that good stuff. makes you think a lot. I mean, people can have opinions and disagree with what i am saying, but as much as you diss good charlotte, it wont do you any good at getting rid of them as most of you might like.

What other 3?? There are only 3 albums, including the first one. The Chronicles of Life and Death is one album! have you been deluded into thinking different cover art and a different bonus track makes it a different album? It's still the same album? Don't tell me you bought both...

Actually no; I find their lyrics to be really basic and clichéd. The fact that you think they're clever suggests you haven't heard many decent lyrics.
As for saying they're good musicians - trust me: they just have good producers!
And I suspect that enough dissing will actually persuade them that they're hated and make them split up - it worked on Busted!
Interestingly, some inner thinking has opened my eyes as to the appeal of Good Charlotte. They're the first uber-mainstream pop band of this generation to openly sing about depressing things like suicide and to the unwitting eye they do a good impression of being fake-ass punks. To those who don't listen to any of the hardcore versions of GC (for example Blink 182 or Sum 41 - I say they're hardcore - what I mean is they're not fakes like GC), they can come across as a well-marketed image. The fact is that there are loads of other bands out there to be heard by you GC fans. So throw away the CDs and listen to Green Day! Not that I'm advocating Green Day as the best band in the world, but they're better than GC.

I thought I had clearly stated my definition of "hardcore" - I was using it in an idiomatic sense to mean more tre to their music than GC. Obviously this has no correlation with the real meaning of the word...

thats the stupidest thing i've ever heard!! good charlotte has NO sense of punk rock to them at all their the biggest bunch of poser's on the scene today, if they were punk rock they'd be singing about the inadequacies in society, they'd be singing anthems against the media and the truth kept from the general public, if they had any sense of punk rock they would at least show the slightest hint of a political conscious of all atrocities happening around us and around the world.... isn't this what punk rock was started for in the first place??? its meant to incite people to open their eyes and have a look for themselves not play out like a bad episode of the OC.
Maybe thats just my opinion on punk.... but it really gets to me how bands like good charlotte are destroying the original purpose of punk and making it into an image not an ideal like it should be.

I think you are all really sad. Dont see why you bother trying to make people not like GC. Its not gonna work.. but my question is.. why do you care? theyre just music.. and if u have a message back that is saying "Theyre not music they suck" then that is pretty bad cuz i can predict prety much everything you all say to these messages. gc doesnt write about depressing songs, theyre songs make sense. and yes they do have 3 other cds.. know the Chronicles of Life and Death are supposed to be one series or w.e but Life and Death have different bonus tracks wich makes there be two cds. the other are Hopeless, and Good Charlotte. And i think Good Charlotte is the best album they put out.

I know it's not a good answer, but... if the ppl that's making the music (in this case GC) like it, then it's music... because you could do whatever you wanna do on .. let's say a guitar; others might tell you it's not music because it sounds horrible, but if you like it then it's music to you
and that's what music is all about... if you like it, it's something you like to listen to, and it's just a bonus if someone else listen to the same thing...

Well, well, well... So Mr.Florkman finally let me back... I'll get straight to the point then. That is a good point Mekko, but I'm not sure if it's absolutely true. I'm wondering if GC is really in this business for the music making process, because I think that it's the money making part that's gotten them hooked. It might be a good point and change my mind for a different band who care about their fans and are sincere to their fans, but I don't get that impression from GC. Maybe I've gotten it all wrong, but I don't think so.

I stole 'The Young and the Hopeless' from a midget, and listened to it, and thought that it wasn't too bad. And the latest one I got as a present, but I'm undecided. There's bits of the albums that I like, and others I really detest. I don't think they're too bad as far as it goes, but hey, I could just be biased as I listen to this kinda stuff...

maybe it's like that the fans (obviously) likes the music, but doesn't know exacly why... maybe it's something in the music, like the drums, guitars.. whatever, or it's the lyrics? I don't really know and I don't even know why I listen to 'em.. but there's something in the music that I like....

haha dude, I was at the GC concert last night... I've got Billys plectrum :D but... to be honest.. it's kinda boring to look at Benji and Joel.. they doesn't smile that much, and they don't freak out on stage as Billy or Paul does... even though Billy was the funniest one to watch... smiling, joking with the crowd, so I guess it was a pretty good show after all.. .even though I know I won't look at them again... maybe tour with them, but not go on a concert with 'em... the crowd is boring and everyone is screaming (sure, it's like this on every concert, but when there's only girls in the crowd 98%, then it's getting boring :P) and Benji got pissed off when some girls started to sing Happy Birthday...
Anyway.. good show after all :)
btw.. Benji wants a swedish boyfriend, sorry girls :P
but.. Joel wants a swedish girlfriend, and all he can get is Billy :P LOL

If I like a type of music or a certain band, I'm not afraid to admit it either. Who cares what kind of music it is, if you like it then listen to it, if you don't then find something that you think is better or whatever.
