Sorry - I was referring to the bit where they're all up on the roof or whatever. Except that it's not all of them; know what I mean? And yeah, I know it was the song that took the longest to write. He spent years on that song and he's hardly in the video.

All of them are on the roof..... Mike's there too... He's sitting and playing the piano.... in his hat...
>>By Lincoln (Saturday, 19 Jun 2004 12:15)
He is?? Well, he's not very noticeable. I didn't know he played piano anyway. Forgive me - I have only seen the video once because I don't watch much TV, although I did pay close attention.
Stink, you have no idea. I suppose you think that if you stretched it to 11 years, the worst band would be Nirvana. I might even go as far as saying that LP are the best band of the past 10 years, but I do like others. Linkin Park are something special and they have the potential (dedication and talent) to be the best band in the world, without a doubt.

hey, thanks for coming to jakarta, indonesia.. i love you all, especially mike.. by the way, are you married, mike?? when?? is it on may, 2003??
>>By ndee (Sunday, 20 Jun 2004 09:24)
first of all mike doesn't read this so dont bother askin questions to him, second nirvana was not a bad band and third mikes been playin piano forever since he was like 5 or somethin
>>By Cookie8Monster (Monday, 21 Jun 2004 09:46)
Although I doubt seriously that Mike reads these Pages... He uses the internet as much as anyone.
So he might
If he does, then good for him.
I don't think Nirvana and LP are quite comperable... seeing as they are completeley different kinds of music really. But both are VERY good at what they do
>>By Der Gothmann (Wednesday, 7 Jul 2004 13:45)
I agree wiv Der Gothmann. Both LP and Nirvana are really good bands and i love both of them but they are totally different styles. Though the fact that LP will release more albums and hopefully get even better while Nirvana have already had their run does give LP a slight advantage.
>>By fish4ever (Wednesday, 7 Jul 2004 14:16)
Way to delete loads of messages... Nirvana and LP are indeed both excellent bands. I don't agree that LP haven't changed between their two albums. That's just nonsense. Just because the differences don't hit you in the face like they do listening to Bleach and Nevermind, if you listen to them carefully you will notice massive differences. In contrast, if you listen to Incesticide by Nirvana, you may realise that it has loads in common with their first two albums. However, I still think Nirvana are brilliant. If they changed loads, they just wouldn't be Nirvana.

If you want to hear some really different stuff, check out Hybrid Theory EP or listen to the stuff on the CDs you get if you're in the LPU.

There's a link for you all. Take the spaces out for it to work.
It plays "numb" in one speaker and "pushing me away" in the other.
Note how they almost sound like the same song, eh?
These guys need songs that actually sound DIFFERENT, or else they're going nowhere, fast.

Meteora sucks big time!
>>By CHARLOS (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 18:33)
Like u listened to it.....
Let me guess, u heard it only once....
Hear it a couple of times, till u at least will be able to know that each song has it's own sound.
If u think that Meteora suks, it proves that u dont know LP and that you dont know what does hard work means.
>>By Lincoln (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 20:25)
I know LP, Hybrid Theory it's one of my favorite cd's, Reanimation is great to, and yes, you can tell they put a lot of artwork an stuff in their records but as punk_child said they are lacking of innovation.
>>By CHARLOS (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 20:50)
if u heard HT, and it's one of your favourite cd's, then u would know the difference between Meteora, and u would see that songs are different.
First of all, the theme of each song is diff. so is the music in the songs.
Each song has special sound of it's own.
If u listen to Meteora only once, u wont see that, u have to listen to it couple of times.
It's like that with every album. First time u listen to it, everything sounds the same. Once u really get into the music on the album, u'll hear the difference.
>>By Lincoln (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 21:19)
I know what you mean
I tried that with other awful cd "Untouchables" by Korn and honestly, it did not work, i try to listen to it in diiferent ways one time and another and still sucks, and i'm a big fan of korn....
>>By CHARLOS (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 21:26)
No, if I think that it sucks, it means that I think that it sucks. Period. I never said they didn't work hard on it. And yes, to tell you the truth, I liked their first album. I just wish that their songs weren't so generic.
All I said was that I didn't like their new album. I don't know where you pulled the rest from.
>>By punk_child_8713 (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 21:38)
i was talking to Charlos.

When I first heard about that thing, I listened to Numb and Pushing me Away at exactly the same time, using my CD player and my computer. For the first few seconds, they are in remarkably good time with each other. However, after that they go out of time. Having never seen this Internet thing before, I suspected that it might just be a sample of the first few seconds and that really doesn't prove it anything.
Thanks for the URL. Now I've listened to what I can only qualify as a remix, I must state that this is Tall Poppy Syndrome at its most evil. Don't you realise that Numb has been slowed down, remixed and generally altered so that it fits with Pushing me Away? The two songs are utterly insimilar if you listen to them properly.
Here's another point: a lot of Nirvana songs repeat themselves heavily and generally just put the first verse in again, making the song seem twice as long. Perhaps we should persecute them for not writing "different" songs. No? Because Nirvana were a great band, as are LP today. Repetition is still good music.
Also the bridge in Numb (I've become so numb...) seems to fit brilliantly into ANY song, be it LP or not. Any style, too. Just slow it down or speed it up slightly to fit the timing. Right now I'm singing to the trumpet outro of the National Anthem by Radiohead, using the bridge from Numb. It fits. So although you could say logically that Numb is a rip-off of every song that ever came before it, so every song that came after is a rip-off of Numb. But let's not accuse anyone of plaguerism...
Hybrid Theory is my favourite album by Linkin Park, but mainly because it has By Myself on there, which is their hardest song and my personal favourite. However, I adore the other albums, although I really don't consider Reanimation an album as such.
If you've listened to the Hybrid Theory EP you will realise that LP moved on a lot from that to their debut album. If Meteora sounds like Hybrid Theory, it's simply because their style is so far from the norm that we can't pick out the details well. Meteora is as different from Hybrid Theory as most bands' albums are from one another. They rock my ass.
>>By Sk8a H8a (Sunday, 8 Aug 2004 12:57)
About the URL, Sk8a, i noticed the change. At first i thought that it wasn't even Chaz's voice, cause the music was slower and faster.
U read my mind, And for that, respect man \m/.
U Said everything that i wanted to say. Ony u said it better! \m/
>>By Lincoln (Sunday, 8 Aug 2004 14:28)
Yes, same here. I thought it was just a cover, deliberately played differently. But it is in fact the actual song slowed down and with bits added/removed. Bits of Pushing me Away were repeated too, to make it fit. It's a really poor stage-up, but to those who don't know Linkin Park, it sounds like proof that the 2 songs are the same. So that thing will convince people who already don't like Linkin Park... it's preaching to the converted. Pointless and sad, I say. All it's achieving is that it's making LP haters hate 'em even more and so create more bad feeling between fans and haters. And people who don't already like them are less inclined to give them a chance. For everyone out there who hasn't heard all of Linkin Park's songs properly and doesn't like them yet, listen to them! They have a lot more variety than it seems at first. Compare Hit the Floor to Papercut for example. Or Carousel and Easier to Run. The sheer insimilarity... what can I say? Linkin Park are awesome.

The funny thing is I know both songs... by heart, and I saw no change. So tell me where these supposed changes are.
>>By punk_child_8713 (Tuesday, 10 Aug 2004 02:41)
I'll admit there's one minor change towards the end of Pushing me away. But other than that, the songs are pretty much the same. Same key, same general format, same vocals, same pattern, same well.... everything really.
>>By punk_child_8713 (Tuesday, 10 Aug 2004 02:49)
man, this thing happens in every band, it doesn't mean that the band sucks. They are only human, and judging a band by two songs, that are, ok, they are a little similar, and saying that LP suks, cause of that, that's overreavcting (damn, i dont speak english very well, so dont comment my mistakes this time!).
Instead of pointing out the advantages you pay attention on disadvantages. The band's attention towards it's fans is amazing. This is the band that has the closest relations with it's fans. They are great guys, and they make their own music by themselves, and they make great music. They try new things, the expetiment new things. They give great performances! Their concerts are great! And their music and lyrics are real.

Linkin Park have to be one of the worst "alternative" bands I have ever heard. Where is their talent? As for Mr Sk8a h8a, what happened to the "I don't like them as much as Devin likes them." Now you can NEVER ask me not to listen to Rage Against the Machine, who are far more talented and don't just play crappy power chords like those "we're not meant to be popular" bands. They make decent riffs and the lyris actually mean something - "Now I know my ememies, they're the teachers who told me to FIGHT me! Compromise, conformaty, assimilation, submission, brutality, the elite, all of which are American dreams, all of which are American dreams." Hmmm I shall have to arrange that I "accidently" switch it on when you arrive..... but anyway Linkin Park are rubbish and don't deserve the 15 pages written about them. Radiohead and more talented bands <Thom> I deserve more than 4!! only get a few pages!!
>>By Tchock (Tuesday, 10 Aug 2004 13:16)
You know, it's not surprising that u say that, cause you're Radiohead's fan, so it's obvious that you'll write something about them and insult LP.
The worst "alternative" band? Be serious for one second and dont make me laugh! Think for a second before saying that!
You want to tell me that only the lyrics of the bands you're listening to are the real lyrics? You wanna thell me that the music of those band you're listening to is the best music? Prove it! Y u think u're so smart and that you know what's the best music and what's the worst? cause you play a guitar? cause you're a writer? hahaha.
And LP's discussion has so many pages cause people like u constantly come here and try to be smart and say that LP suks.
Or maybe the bands you're listening to, are not so interesting. So shut it! Go write those 4 pages your fav bands have, so that you won't complain again!
