I agree with that White Stripes fan. I have also seen them live, and Jack has that look about him when he performs like he's undressing me with his eyes. HES SO SEXY. Meg is also great, SHE IS A QUIET INSPIRATION WITH HER VOICE but her pure style of DRUMMING IS EXPLOSIVELY MIND BLOWING. They both are great together.

That review above mine says it best, thay have been compared to Jimi Hendrix by well respected music magazines because Jimi Hendrix was famous for being different but before him people were afraid of different ideas.

The White Stripes are paving the way for independent bands, thoughts, and ideas.

Please respond to this and remember KEEP ROCKIN WITH AN OPEN MIND.

Go to www.ebay.com for the best chance to get a ticket to their show, if ticketmaster is already sold out.

white stripes have stripes , yummy peppermint. ooo but dont drink diet pepsi after eating peppermints. makes your mouth go .. weird .. white stripes are cool!! they are my favourite band but fans of the white stripes (like me) dont expect everyone to like them (everyone has different taste) so dont go calling people who dont like them "pricks" or whatever, because not everyones opinion is going to make you happy. if you like the white stripes.. then you like them, if you dont.. than you like crappy music. hahah, joking

deleted a post from "mw_whitestripes". please do not pretend you are the member of a band on these boards. if you *are* a member of a band, please contact me first. thanx.

>>By mg   (Saturday, 19 Jul 2003 01:37)

Jack doesnt have some highly specialized guitar, thats the whole fucking point. He makes well with what he has, which is some cheap Airline guitar, and most certainly not a fucking custom firebird. As for pedals, he said "i dont need that stuff, my emotion becomes my tone", so I have a feeling he doesnt really use that.

>>By Johnny K   (Saturday, 19 Jul 2003 20:24)

jack said in one interview that meg is his sister, but that he didn't know this for a long time, because he has a lot of brothers and sis.
and then one day he meet meg in the big house of his family and he realized that she is his sister(he really said this), but I am not sure if he was honest... I think it was a joke.

White Stripes dates postponed

July 16, 2003

The White Stripes announced Tuesday the postponement of North American tour dates through mid-August, including the Aug. 10 stop at the Masonic Temple in Detroit.

The dates change came after frontman Jack White suffered a compound fracture of his left finger in a car accident last week in Detroit. Including Detroit, 16 cities in the United States and Canada are affected.

A press release from the White Stripes said the group hoped to reschedule the shows soon, and Clear Channel Entertainment said it was looking for a new Detroit date.

Ticket-holders can direct questions about refunds to Ticketmaster (248-645-6666) or the point of purchase. The tickets will be honored for the new date

Earning their stripes

Siblings they're not, but Detroit duo is still red-hot
March 30, 2001

BY CHRISTOPHER WALTON
FREE PRESS SPECIAL WRITER

With its stripped-down garage-rock sound, childlike imagery and do-it-yourself ethic, Detroit duo the White Stripes is all about keeping things simple -- even as the band generates increasingly big national buzz.

But there's one thing that's not so simple: the story behind the relationship between members Jack and Meg White.

White Stripes
With the Von Bondies and Drum Buddy Badass

9 p.m. Saturday

The Magic Stick

4120 Woodward, Detroit

313-833-9700

$10

Though it has been widely reported that the band -- Jack, 25, and Meg, 26 -- are brother and sister, they are actually former husband and wife, divorced since March 2000, according to Oakland County Circuit Court records.

Amidst the coast-to-coast clamor generated by the southwest Detroit duo, the two have consistently been referred to as brother and sister by the media, including Rolling Stone magazine, which tagged the group as one of the country's up-and-coming bands for 2001, and the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, which both reviewed White Stripes performances. Other written reports have included details about them growing up the youngest two of 10 children in a family on Detroit's southwest side.

In an initial interview for this story, Jack White repeated that version of the band's background. When asked about it again in a later interview, he declined comment except for saying: "Frankly, we're kind of tired with all the attention on the brother-sister thing. The White Stripes are about the music, and we don't want that to be lost."

That the Stripes were once married to each other, a fact already known by many in the local indie rock community, should have little effect on the band's rising national reputation. As word of the group's eccentric, eclectic sound -- a Delta blues-based montage painted in punk, country, heavy metal, bombastic garage rock and even some well-crafted pop -- has moved across the country, the White Stripes have become white-hot.

And Jack White's phone is ringing off the hook, as promoters and record labels maneuver for a piece of the duo.

"Our initial reaction is to not respond at all," says Jack White, the band's guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. "It's kind of hard -- we sort of feel like the flavor of the month, that there's nowhere to go but down. We're kind of hoping that all the fake attention we're getting lately will go away. In the meantime, we're trying to decide how to respond."

One decision has already been made, says Jack: The band is staying in Detroit. And tomorrow night, it will lay it down on its home field, taking the stage at Detroit's Magic Stick.

A drummer since the age of 5, Jack turned to guitar at age 17, and started playing with local bands, including 2 Tabernacle and The Go!

Meg, on the other hand, taught herself to drum just 3 1/2 years ago. "We did our first show two months after I started playing," she says.

Formed in 1997, the Stripes have two CDs ("The White Stripes" and "De Stijl") out on Long Beach, Calif.-based indie label Sympathy for the Record Industry. A third effort, "White Blood Cells," is due from the same label in June. Widely known for his dedication to the local music scene, Jack has just finished producing a compilation of Detroit bands called "Sympathetic Sounds of Detroit," part of a series being done in cities around the country.

Powered by the minimalist mix of Jack's deft guitar play and Meg's primal percussive assault, the duo casts an ambitious and far-flung musical net. A live performance might include covers of Bob Dylan, AC/DC, Dolly Parton and Jack's hero, Son House.

"Their sound is completely different from anyone else out there," says Willy Wilson, who hosts a rock and R&B show on WDET-FM (101.9), of White Stripes. "They're on the cutting edge of breaking new ground musically. What's so cool about the White Stripes is that they don't create any musical boundaries that might limit them. Jack's a very good performer, he makes it very entertaining. They're a must-see live band."

>>By Alis   (Wednesday, 23 Jul 2003 16:57)

alis, please spell the words right.
I didn't really understand what you wrote!!!
just that they are unique and not like others or s.th. like that.

and why you all care if they are married or divorced or brother and sister???
its not imortant.

>>By xxx   (Wednesday, 23 Jul 2003 19:30)

To Alis: frankly, I couldn't give a fuck if Jack and Meg are christians. Theres a big difference between someones persobnal life and their music, and people like you need to stop mixing the two. And if you think that they are so original, listen to some fucking MC5 and tell me they didn't draw from them. Granted, compared to most "arists" today they are original, but don't go acting like they invented it or anything.

>>By Johnny K   (Saturday, 26 Jul 2003 22:37)

DONT GET OFFENDED WHEN PEOPLE CUSS. JUST BECAUSE WE LIKE THEM AND THEIR MUSIC DOESN'T MEAN WE HAVE TO BEHAVE LIKE CHRISTIANS BECAUSE THEY ARE. i DON'T BELIEVE IN RELIGION, BECAUSE I HAVE THAT RIGHT, AND I DONT LIKE WHEN PEOPLE COME IN HERE AND SAY STUFF ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE, THIS MESSAGE BOARD IS ABOUT THE MUSIC, IF YOU WANT TO TALK TO PEOPLE AND TELL THEM HOW TO LIVE THEIR LIVES GO TO A CHAT ROOM, alis. PEOPLE DONT LIKE BEING TOLD HOW TO ACT, KEEP THAT IN MIND.

THE MAIN REASON WHY I LIKE JACK AND MEGS MUSIC IS BECAUSE THEY PERFORM WITH FREEDOM AND STRENGTH, WHILE DOING THEIR OWN THING, NOT BECAUSE OF THEIR RELIGIOUS PREFERENCE, I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THAT.

WHAT I DO CARE ABOUT IS THE FACT THAT MEG AND JACK ARE NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP. I AM A BID FAN OF JACK WHITE AND I RESPECT HIM FOR HIS MUSIC, AND MEG TOO. SHE IS VERY SKILLED BUT SHE IS SHY SBOUT IT AND TRIES TO HIDE IT, I FIND THAT VERY SEXY. I USED TO THINK THEY WERE BROTHER AND SISTER, AND THAT SORT OF FREAKED ME OUT.

IF I HAD A CHANCE WITH MEG I WOULD DEFINITLY GO FOR IT, NOT BECAUSE OF HER RELIGION BUT BECAUSE OF WHO SHE IS AND HOW SHE PLAYS WITH PASSIION, SIMPLE AS THAT.

TO REITERATE, alis, DO NOT TELL PEOPLE HERE TO WATCH WHAT THEY SAY BECAUSE JACK AND MEG DONT CUSS. IM SURE THEY WOULD NOT GIVE A S**T IF SOMEONE SAID THE F WORD WHILE EXPLAINING HOW THEY LOVE THESE ARTISTS, OKAY?

IM NOT GETTING PISSED OFF AT YOU, JUST TRYING TO LET YOU UNDERSTAND WHERE PEOPLE COME FROM. MOST PEOPLE APPRECIATE FREEDOM AND DO NOT LIKE TO CONFORM TO OTHER PEOPLE'S LIKINGS!

JUST STATE YOUR DAMN OPINION AND DONT JUDGE PEOPLE

>>By JACK BLUE   (Sunday, 27 Jul 2003 09:47)

I AGREE WITH YOU JACK BLUE JUST RECENTLY I READ AN INTERVIEW AND JACK SWORE IN IT IM SRRY BUT THEY DONT BRING THEIR RELIGION IN TO THEIR MUSIC WHY SHOULD WE????

>>By jack_is_hot   (Tuesday, 29 Jul 2003 17:45)

Hey, didn't the White Stripes get into a car accident a little bit ago? I heard on the radio that they were driving to their next gig and they got hit by another car or something and jack's hand is so bad he doesn't know if he can play guitar anymore. I could be wrong, but that's what i heard, and their mom came on the radio or something..

Hey white stripes are ok. "yah your pretty good looking, for a girl!" I also like seven nation army.

>>By Jane   (Monday, 4 Aug 2003 16:17)

Yeah "Jack is Hot", I saw that surgury clip too, its nice. Go to whitestripes.com and click on a message from the White Stripes and click on the link to find a clip of Jack's finger surgury. Seven Nation Army is playing in the backround! So how are the jack and meg fans doin out there? Anyone have a question just type it in and we'll get to the bottom of it, because knowledge is power, and when you go to a WS show, you can make fun of people who don't understand the White Stripes. That's the thing about them, they can't be understood, because they're so simple. Anyway, if someone has seen them live, tell us about it or go to Rollingstone.com and go to whitestripes-concert files.
"Jack is Hot", how can I get in touch with you on messenger or something? Let me know, please you sound interesting.
Bye for now candy cane children
