Musically, Metallica and Megadeth are equal all up until 'Tallica's Black Album. Megadeth became better after that. As far as guitar orchestratrion, from a guitarist's perspective; Kirk Hammett is better than Mustaine but not even close to Friedman or Pitrelli. Hetfield doesnt even hold a light to any of them. As far as composition goes, Mustaine is a musical genius and so is Hetfield but Mustaine is just better. Vocally, Hetfield is better. Now for drums and since im not a drummer, I wouldnt have the slightest idea, but I would have to go with Lars-Just listen to "And Justice For All." As far as bass, I have no idea, but if anything; I would have to say Ellefson. Probably because I know him personally. HaHa. Anyone agree?

man.....megadeth rocks over metallica by far these days. metallica lost their edge a while back now......megadeth are gods in my books....they write music that has actuall meaning to life....and they arn't media grubbing fools. who cares about top 40 bands......they all suck.....dave will be back for more, better then before. i have faith in those boys, always have and always will. i will defend them to our graves.

What the fuck is wrong with you all? To be a Megadeth fan, must one hate Metallica? You don't have to compare the two constantly. It's so god damned annoying. If Megadeth had somthing to say to Metallica they would say it themselves. Let Megadeth do Megadeth's bitching please!!!

I've just heard 1 or 2 songs but this far I acctually think they're pretty good... I'm not into that kind of music in normal cases but if you have some guys in your class that listen to it loud everywhere then you can't help starting to like it... but I think Helloween is better... sorry...

Id just like to share my opinions on the whole Megadeth Vs Metallica issue.. BTW Im a 21 year old male living in Melbourne Australia.
I have always liked Metal..Metallica were the band that got me into metal in the first place and they are a fantastic band.. For so long I knew nothing about Megadeth until I oneday heard the Album 'RUST IN PEACE' which my brother bought and my life had changed forever. Rust in Peace is the most amazing masterpiece and I think is far better than anything Metallica has ever produced.
I don't know about the rest of the world but here If you say the name MEGADETH it doesnt mean much.. It is so frustrating for me and i'm sure for so many other MEGADETH fans that the band doesn't get the credit it deserves compared to Metallica. I just want anyone who says Megadeth is crap to listen to Rust in Peace!!! but sadly so many ignorant Metallica fans and others wont even give Megadeth a chance and will never hear Thrash Metal at its very best.

Yeah, Dave Mustaine is an absolute legend - no need to keep comparing Megadeth to Metallica though... Lars, James and Cliff (see, only half of the current band so it's out-of-date anyway) treated Dave like shit but that's in the past and there's nothing WE can do about it apart from listening to Megadeth, but that shouldn't stop us enjoying Metallica, especially the pre-Hammett stuff

Megadeth is my all time favourite band alongside Iron Maiden but I think there is no denying that Megadeth followed Metallica in selling out. Countdown to extinction had some awesome guitar playing but I see that album as the beginning of the end for their thrash years. They followed bloody Metallica!!!. BTW The black album is a heap of shit!!! Megadeth could have been up there with Metallica if they had stuck to their RIP style I believe. The Ninties was a sad end to true thrash metal and Megadeth were no exception. :( RIP THRASH!!!
