Rev0lt, punk isn't dead. And I don't know what your talking about, the sex pistols rock a million times over. Also everyone fights because it's fun! If everyone just got along, it would be totally boring. People differ in opinion, you just have to exept it -- Some people are extremely into punk and fight about it and some are casually into punk and don't care.

I'ts nice to now that all you young kid's are in to The Sex Pistols but don't believe in the myth.The Pistols were around for nearly 3 years,1975-78, In that time they did change the music scene,If it wasn't for them Oasis, Nivrarna, etc... would be playing folk music or something.They gave the music industry a kick up the arse. So you can blame the pistols in one sense for all the manequin bands you got around to-day.And for Sid Vicious, John brought him in cause he was his mate,He did'nt play too well on the bass but he looked the part,A coat hanger one might say, Glen Matlock had the talent but he washed his feet too much.So don't look up to smack heads it's a one way ticket too hell............Sid Vicious 10/5/1957-2/2/1979 R. Sex Pistols weren't the first, maybe the best known, but surely not the only ones.. and in my opinion, theothers had surely as much influence on the whole music scene as they did, if not more.....

It depends on your mood at the time,If you want to chill out to a slow tempo then listen to Submission,Satellite,Seventeen.My personal favorites are No feelings, Problems, No fun and of course GSTQ, Pretty Vacant, HITS. They are all good tracks but find out why they wrote them, The songs will take on another meaning to you. So when you play them next the songs will be more powerful and more relevent to todays issues. In conclusion make your own mind up, you are an individual......God Save The Queen My Son..........

The Sex Pistols Did'nt invent punk.It was a name given to them by some journilist who was checking their set out in 1976. So u better do some more research emmaritchie.Do u know where and when their first ever gig was?

Check out the New York Dolls: they formed in 1969 and are generally seen as one of the first punk bands (when you disregard the stooges).....

Fucking hell, that txty shite on the first two pages isn't half confusing. Anyway sex pistols fucking amazing without them the clash would have never had Joe Strummer and what would we listen to then.
And punk isn't dead it's just not worth listening to anymore. These days its just dickheads with black eyeliner and more metal in their faces than you can shake a stick at shouting as loud as they can about god knows what. At least the sex pistols had a bit of a cause.

I can't believe what I'm reading on here, I think I just got stupider for reading as much as I did. I thought I'd come and see if anyone mentioned Johnny Thunders or New York Dolls here, and one person, campking, mentioned the Dolls and got it wrong, they didn't form in 69, The Stooges released their first album in 69, but the Dolls, no, they didn't even make their Actress demo until 71, and that was before Johanson and Sylvain were in the band. I think Thunders may have been doing his band called The Reign at that time. I'm not sure tho'.
And what's with these 14 year olds talking about something they obviously know nothing about. Go back to your Good Charlotte cd's, you'll obviously never "get it".

According to the popencyclopiedia I have they form in 1969, and indeed recorded their first demo in 1971. The first doesn't contrary the other.
The first rehearsal of a band one way or another, never coincides with the first demo. Mostly you need some time to write some songs. So maybe I was right in the end.

As far as i know punk was already 'invented' in the end of the sixties, in the U.S.A to be precisely. Don't know any of the first punkbands, exept for the New York Dolls. But the real breakthrough of punk began when Malcolm mc.Laren 'met' the sexpistols, mid seventies.
I like the Sexpistols. But i see it as a kind o' music for a great party/picknick with some friends and beer. Sexpistols were powerful, and they indeed kicked ass. To me, together with Crass and DK's, they are icons of punk.
