Here we have a perfectly good rock band that nobody wants to talk about. I have been struggling to rank Pearl Jam's albums in order... but here is my list - subject to change without notice:

1. Vitalogy
2. No Code
3. Ten
4. Yield
5. Vs
6. Riot Act
7. Binaural

Man that is a tough job to rank these albums!
all I know is they're all great but for me Vs edges it coz its so raw sounding especially after the polished sound of Ten , it blew me away. Good list though mate!

You don't really think Binaural is not as good as the others?! What about Nothing As It Seems?

I think the best songs are scattered across the albums, so I can't really rank the albums themselves.

>>I think the best songs are scattered across the albums, so I can't really rank the albums themselves.>>

I agree completely, which is why the list was so hard to create. But I am pretty sure Binaural is my least favourite. And I did think immediately that Vs looked a little low.

I don't like Riot Act as much, but it had some great songs.

When I first heard Tremor Christ I was on a train and I kept rewinding my walkman and listening to it again and again for the whole journey. It was that good!

I agree with Spikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and Flagg. Just when you think they've done an amazingly good album where every song is brilliant, they go and muck it up. The first bit of Yield is good, but after Do the Evolution, it kinda trails off a bit, for me, until Push Me Pull Me and All Those Yesterdays - and that cool track at the end.

W.M.A

He won the lottery
When he was born
Took his mother's white breast to his tongue
Trained like dogs
Colour and Smell
Passed by me
To get to him
Policeman....

He won the lottery
By being born
Big hand slapped a
White Male American
Do no wrong
So clean cut
Dirty his hands it comes right off
Policman... policeman

Police stopped my brother again - oh police stopped my brother again... policeman... policeman... oh...

The more you guys talk about Vs, the more I think I've under-rated it terribly. I am punishing it for having Blood and Elderly Woman..... on it.

>>By spikee   (Saturday, 30 Oct 2004 02:50)

Replace Elderly Woman... with Crazy Mary and Blood with Man of the Hour it would be much miproved.

>>By Tchock   (Saturday, 30 Oct 2004 20:48)

Elderly Woman.... and Blood are good. Crazy Mary's good too. Haven't heard Man of the Hour.
And Tchock, we all know the lyrics to WMA so stop wasting board space.

>>By Flagg   (Saturday, 30 Oct 2004 20:52)

Man of the Hour is an excellent song, but would it really git on Vs?
Flagg: 2 things - 1. Tchock was backing her point up with a quote, which is fair enough. 2. There is no such thing as baoard "space". There are 30 posts on each page and then a new page is started. At least as far as I know, that's how it works. No matter how long an individual post is, it makes no difference to the number of pages. Besides, there's plenty troom for more. If you wanna see a board with wasted space, check out Ville Valo or Good Charlotte. Ville's got to the point where people are commenting about how many stupid comments there are... which is sad and pointless.
Pearl Jam are cool.

Talking about what should and shouldn't of been on albums, why is Yellow Ledbetter not on Ten?

>>By spikee   (Sunday, 31 Oct 2004 02:11)

And why is State of Lv & Trst not on an album?

>>By Flagg   (Sunday, 31 Oct 2004 22:34)

Here I am, w.a.s.t.i.n.g more "board space" Flagg.
SOLAT doesn't really fit into any of the albums does it??
It has an Alivish feel to it... the solo anyhoo....

Oh and Bitch Fit, I was just reciting WMA because it was playing at the time.... no real reason to back up my arguement when there was no arguement in the first place... unless I was arguing and forgot about the arguement which means it really wasn't that important.
Yep, enough space wasted I think. Hope Mareky doesn't delete this because of it - nice Mareky *pats on head* :)

SOLAT should be on their next album, if it isn't already. Hope they play it next time they come up to Scotland.

>>By Tchock   (Sunday, 31 Oct 2004 23:32)

Jesus. Point taken - I realise there's no such thing as 'board space', but there really was no point posting those lyrics. I HAD TO SPEND TIME SCROLLING DOWN! It's like when someone goes on the NIN board to post 'I wanna fuck you like an animal' thirty times, hehe aren't I clever! We're all fans and most of us know the song. That's all I was saying.

>>By Flagg   (Tuesday, 2 Nov 2004 22:01)

PEARL JAM Hell yeah!!! What an awesome underrated band, one of the many that should have been bigger but with the whole Grunge/Rock resurgence many bands never got the respect they were due....can't wait to see em live again!!

check out www.rearviewmirrorband.co.uk thats the PJ Trib band im in at the moment.....the songs on the site are of terrible quality...Animal isnt too bad tho.....still trying to do a gig where i can actually hear what im singing lol......be good to see some of ya at a gig sometime....theyre coming in thick and fast now so hopefully we'll see you at a town near you soon.......

Peace

I think the album order is:

1) Vs
2) Binaural
3) Ten
4) Vitalogy
5) Yield
6) No Code
7) Riot Act

And that's off the top of my head,
but it doesn't matter because their best song is State of Love and Trust, easily.

>>By Flagg   (Saturday, 6 Aug 2005 10:19)

i've never heard that song. but a few of my favourite Pearl Jam songs include:

1. Tremor Christ
2. Indifference
3. Satan's Bed
4. Off He Goes
5. Around The Bend
6. Cordoroy
7. Alive
8. Yellow Ledbetter

there are many others, of course. some i've over-listened to (eg Black), others i can't think of at the moment (eg the Riot Act songs)

>>By spikee   (Saturday, 6 Aug 2005 14:10)

Oh mate, you have to hear State of Love and Trust any way you can! It's one of the best songs ever written I think.

>>By Flagg   (Sunday, 7 Aug 2005 20:16)

Obviously its not on any of their albums. Is it a song they perform live? I will see them live next time they are out here. Is it an old song they wrote but never released, or a new one, or a cover version? Is it really that good?

>>By spikee   (Tuesday, 9 Aug 2005 15:05)

Yeah they do it live. It was on the soundtrack to the film Singles. And it's on the greatest hits. I think it was a single from around the Ten era, just wasn't on the album.

>>By Flagg   (Tuesday, 9 Aug 2005 19:42)

OK, i will have to get that Rearviewmirror cd thing. i saw there were about 4 songs i didn't know on it, but i couldn't be bothered buying it. because who wants to buy a whole cd for just 4 songs?

>>By spikee   (Wednesday, 10 Aug 2005 08:32)

A real fan ;)

>>By Flagg   (Wednesday, 10 Aug 2005 20:50)

Geee thanks for saying that. Especially after I just paid over $4 a song for Breathe, Man of the Hour, I Got ID, and State of Love & Trust. I would say more a "complete sucker" or a "obsessive completist".... of which I would like to think I am the second.....

>>By spikee   (Thursday, 11 Aug 2005 11:02)

Nah an obssessive completist buys the album twice if it has the title moved six milimetres to the right on one copy.

>>By Flagg   (Thursday, 11 Aug 2005 21:36)

I better go check that. actually i hate some pearl jam albums they way they're packaged. like Vitalogy and No Code, they look cool, but the cds get scratched when you take them out. and the digipak like on Binaural.... the edges are subject to getting more damage than a normal cd case. so......... do i make the cut yet?

>>By spikee   (Friday, 12 Aug 2005 02:29)

i prefer those fancy cardboard cases, they're just nicer. just means you have to be careful handling them.

>>By Flagg   (Saturday, 13 Aug 2005 23:05)

You're right about Love & Trust, it's a fine song. But I prefer I Got ID, its "riffier". Worth paying $16 for.

>>By sp1kee   (Friday, 14 Oct 2005 16:42)

1. Ten
2. No Code
3. Vs
4. Vitalogy
5. Yield
6. (The Rest.)

>>By ftad   (Tuesday, 12 Aug 2008 16:59)

some of the worst songs i've ever heard are by pearl jam...

>>By Brittybop   (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2008 01:14)

Wow. No way. Pearl Jam rock.
