actually I don't even know what they sound like now, while I was one of the first in myt local recordstore to buy Ten... Do they still have the same power and intesity, or have they cooled down over the years..... Actually the last record I bought was No Code... and then I started focussing on other bands, new things....

Pearl Jam inspired me. I have nothing bad to say about musicians....just good things!
Eddie and Matt are great ..I love all songs ..each one of a special way
Thanks for stilling alive!

>>By Lifeishard   (Tuesday, 6 Jul 2004 05:35)

Eddie Vedder is one of my favourite grunge singers - his voice is so malleable and his lyrics - genius. I especially like Do the Evolution, Alive, Immortality and Rearviewmirror, to name just a few.
Those of you who have seen Pearl Jam play live, know that they are not only brilliant musicians, but brilliant improvisors... mind you what I saw wasn't exactly for large audiences who paid...
It's not that the music is so unbelievably complicated, but that the guitar (solo or not) is so beautifully crafted that it makes the song not just good, but great.
However, the many great songs they have produced, there are some rather average songs - sorry Ed - within the genius that is Pearl Jam.

Not many people like Pearl Jam here do they... which is a shame. They are good. They have more talent than the crap in the charts. But it is good that they are not in the charts. We wouldn't want them to be all popular on us, would we....

I love Pearl Jam... they are the shizzle!

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Friday, 6 Aug 2004 22:05)

Hey - I thought I was the shizzle!!!!! But I love them too. Can anyone else "play" the Alive solo? I printed off all 14 pages of this tab on the net that was it, but guess who had to think it was junk?? Do the Evolution tab went the same way - so did the Santana one, but thankfully the Immortality one remained safe and sound inside my tab books. Pity I know it all off by heart. But yes, I shall be having words with you sk8a h8a. And if you are reading this at my house, my hands are approaching your neck so be warned. A Zero just came on.

I'm ahead, I'm the man, I'm the first mammal to wear pants, I'm at peace with my lust, I can kill cause in god I trust.
I'm the beast, I'm the man, buying stocks on the day of the crash, I'm the noose, I'm the truck, all the rolling hills I'll flatten them out.

Admire me, admire my home, admire my son, he's my clone.
Yield. Yield.
The son is mine, the son is free, I'll do what I want just irresponsibly.

I'm a beast, I'm a liar, there's my church I sing in the choir. Hallejuiah.

Every time, the nightly feast, those indians got nothing to eat - NOTHING! Why?
Because it's Evolution baby!

I am ahead, I'm the best, I am the first mammal to make plans, I crawled the earth, but now I'm high, trade it in and watch it go to fire.
It's Evolution baby, do the evolution, come on, come one.

Oh man, how i love this band. I hear them since I was eleven, and it's one of the best bands I've ever heard, right there next to Tool and A Perfect Circle, simply marvellous. I don't mind that they're not as famous as other bands, it just makes them even more attractive :)

>>By [SchISm]   (Sunday, 22 Aug 2004 22:18)

They are famous!
in my coutry (Mexico) they're huge!
I

>>By CHARLOS   (Monday, 23 Aug 2004 02:28)

I doubt I could play the first 6 notes of the Alive solo properly, but I can do the start of 'Wishlist' :)

>>By ftad   (Monday, 23 Aug 2004 13:49)

Come on, ftad! You can do it. Keep practising!

>>By Csongi   (Sunday, 29 Aug 2004 16:05)

Yeah ftad - the first six notes are the easiest - it's the rest that's bloody hard!

>>By Tchock   (Sunday, 29 Aug 2004 21:44)

So. All you P.J fans..Have you heard 'Brad?' Stone Gossards side project...Fantastic stuff. 3 albums: Shame, Interiors, and the latest 'Welcome to Discovery Park.' Check it out...Jeff has a side project too..Something with 'fish' in the title...Good stuff as well.
And everyone remembers 'Mad Season,' right? Mike McCready and Layne Stanley....Temple of the Dog? Tribute to Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone....Did I miss anything?

>>By KlarkKent   (Monday, 30 Aug 2004 22:34)

Jeff Ament's side thingy was/is called '3 Fish.' Apparently I'm all about side -projects. Peas.

>>By KlarkKent   (Wednesday, 1 Sep 2004 05:24)

I feel that Jeff Ament had a much more productive input into the 1st 2 p.j. albums, what with the 8 & 12 string bass thingy. Maybe he composed more before their conception. Although I'm still a fan of much of their later material (particularly 'Yield'), I'd love to hear Jeff pull out something akin to 'Jeremy' again, or at least more fretless material...Maybe the time for this has passed?

>>By passanger   (Tuesday, 21 Sep 2004 09:50)

Hmmm... Ament is a great bassist and should do more... I know... As I play bass...

I'm not sure if they are still as energetic as they were in Ten... Ten was just a powerful album...

>>By Grazyl   (Tuesday, 21 Sep 2004 12:27)

Hey Grazy I'm a bassist too. One of the things that drew me to P.J was Aments fretless work. I was in a Band that covered "Rats", Rearviewmirror, Alive & others. In Alive. that last split second slide in the bar (alternating up & down) as well as the harmonics on the intro to Alive is/was something a bassist could be proud of...Not to mention his 8 & 12 string work on TEN...Is it just me or has he pulled way back since then? Like I said before I still like much of what they do Maybe they just matured beyond guitar histrionics?

>>By passanger   (Friday, 24 Sep 2004 10:29)

Hmmm... He has sorta pulled back a bit...

Yeah... Maybe they have matured beyond their guitar histronics... I still like them though...

>>By Grazyl   (Friday, 24 Sep 2004 12:40)

Having a good solo concealed, is just as good as an audible one. :)

>>By Tchock   (Friday, 24 Sep 2004 18:02)

Did anyone here used to go on a site called Lukin.com? It had a great message board with loads of devoted Pearl Jam fans.

Smile, Rearview Mirror, Black and Tremor Christ. And Oceans. They are masterpieces, even though I don't listen to the band as much as I used to.

>>By Flagg   (Saturday, 16 Oct 2004 14:02)

Rearview mirror is one of my all time favourites its got everything its just awesome. I went through about five years where all I listened to was PearlJam ! They are just a great band. Saw them in Manchester a couple of years ago and they were incredible. and Grazy is right Jeff is an awesome Bass Player , he is one of my favourites up there with Ben Sheppherd, Jason Newstead, Marcus Miller and Flea.

>>By Phoenix Dark   (Tuesday, 19 Oct 2004 13:33)

I love Pearl Jam, who doesn't.

No Code is an under-rated album imo.
