Obviously, when someone listens to the first sounds of any Opeth song, instantly knows that its music is original, unique I should say, and that goes also for the lyrics. The supreme mastership these four musicians show in every album is just galaxies away from other metal bands (exception: Arcturus - Katatonia - Ulver - Winds- maybe Borknagar). This music is not for everyone. If you are searching for something not very complex, go and find some records from Children of Bodom or In Flames. They are good, but have linear songs, with almost the same riffs and singing. Opeth is more profound. Its music is a mixture of dark feelings and a search inside ourselves through magnificient riffs, solos and acoustic (but never out of place) parts. And that is without saying anything about the vocals, both grrunts and melodious, that rise your soul to incredible heights.
I have never found a band which everyone of their releases is as good at least as the previous one. Opeth knows better. Their music keeps growing with each song. It is metal, but not only that. It goes beyond. I recommend all their albums to everyone with good taste, and also to those poor souls that have none but wish to acquire some. It is always rewarding the money you spend on their albums.

I think opeth is the most interesting band in the heavy music. Their music is very complex, and it's full of emotions. It's hard, dark, beautyful, difficult, and, for the rest of the people, it's too difficult to understand. Every album of Opeth is different, but they are all very good. I am very excited about the "deliverance part two"....I'm sure: it will be their best album until the next one!:)

Opeth's music just blows me away! I wish some of the harder rockin radio stations would play their stuff. But then again, stuff like the awesome 'Face of Melinda' (my favorite) or 'Harvest' or 'To Bid you farewell' would not even be considered hard rock. And one argument for sure is that the length of their songs are too long to engage Joe meathead and the rest of instant gratification American youth from the radio. The wierd thing is that those are excellent points made regarding Opeth and there genre bending sound and style. Although they can be extremely heavy, it is the lighter, folky, spacy side that really endears them to me. And what I really want is to turn on the radio one day and hear 'In Mist she was standing' followed by 'The Moor' and then followed by 'The Drapery Falls' and then realize your listening to a classic rock station..... Spread the word about the peth!

Opeth are the best band on the planet i absolutely adore them for many of the reasons listed above but what would you guys class them as Black, Death, Doom?
And what do you consider as their best album? for me it's got to be BlackWaterPark

The first time I listend to Opeth was at school. I didnt even know what Opeth was. This hot chick that knew a shit load about music was sitting their listening to her discman.
Little did I know I was about to be listening to the Best metal band in the Universe. I ask her if I could listen to her discman and she hands it over. I begin to listen and at first I thought it was Awsome and then it began to grow on me. In a matter of days it took over my life and all my CDs, I had ever owned were nothing compared to my new Opeth collection. And unlike most music, I did not eventually get tired of it. The riffs and lyrics of Opeth just consumed me, more and more.

I would just like to say..Opeth.is one of those groups you just "get" into..this quartet of awesome musician's fronted at the helm by main writer/vocalist/and guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt absolutley take you on their journey through the soul,mind and a path that has almost never been trudged on by one,single group before..there are no "real" words that can completely describe Opeth..this band awoke a part inside myself i forgot existed..it helps me get in touch withself..as a whole...in one word { spirtual }

Have to find some way to put all songs on one cd or something, cause i hate changing cd's over, and then listen non stop. Their songs send shivers up my spine then around my temples and around my whole body, very powerful music. No other music has done this. Especially when you know a killer part of a track is coming up you just anticipate it and when it hits you, look out!!!!!!!!!!!!! It satisfies all my feelings and emotions taking me on roller-coaster ride through my darkest side to my "spiritual" side.

Opeth will go down in metal history no doubt about it...i just wish they would revert back to more of an Orchid or Morningrise style. I like it all but the first albums were my favorates by far.

I remember the first time i heard opeth was at a freinds house while having a party.This kid i knew but dident really like had a huge book of cd's.As i was going through them i noticed a very kool cd cover.It was opeth blackwater park.The cover was so erie and beutiful.The O on opeth was so smart looking.I had to put it in and try it out.I turned on the first track known as THE LEPER AFFINITY and was blown away.I sat there and listened to the whole alblum knowing my whole music world was going to change.I swear the next day i went to Bakersfield,CA to the mall so i can buy that cd.I had every opeth alblum in six weeks.I also had the best time in my life in Hollywood at the Troubadour watching the greatest band perform just feet in front of me.My freinds and i were the first ones in the Troubadour so we had the best spots.I was right in the middle of Peter and Mike on the left side.Peter gave me his pick after they performed "A FAIR JUDGEMENT".I was speechless.I met Martin Mendez and Martin Lopez after the show.They were great lay back guys.Mike and Peter took off to a club so we dident get to meat them.I'm going to see them again in San Diego on May 4th so all you opeth fans that wont be there please wish me luck on meeting the masters of metal.Keep fu!#*ng!!!! jamming opeth!!!!

Opeth is much further beyond music... it's a way of feeling. And everybody who've seen them live, know they are a band that's pure of feeling and sounds... no commercial influences. Please play a song when i am about to die, 'cause that's my only wish, to here them 'till the end of time.

i'm seeing opeth play tomorrow night!!! i am so excited! opeth were one of the first bands that got me into the "metal" genre and i was just amazed at their brilliance in mixing beautiful symphonic melodies with brutal guitar riffs. i love their lastest album, damnation, n i recommend it to anyone that enjoys opeth's more mellow music. OPETH ARE THE GREATEST BAND EVER! \m/

I remember hearing Advent for the first time, it was also the first Opeth song I had ever heard. I really like the mellow parts, but I didnt really like the Black Metal/ Death screaming, it kinda made me cringe.
Now I play it in the car with my Mom, even my mom has gotten used to the hard singing and has appreciated their music.
Anything good takes a while to make, that's why good music only gets better everytime you hear it, and Opeth definately get better on every listen. Once I listened to in The Mist She was standing like 8 times in a row, and it only better each time. With any other band you cant listen to a song more than twice without getting sick of it.
Opeth are the best so far in history, and I don't see anyone touching their greatness, unless of course my solo album I am making turns out the way it sounds in my head:)
