I hear Coldplay are breaking up. Like, what??

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Wednesday, 26 May 2004 12:35)

Yes, they are. I was talking to.... er.... the guy who does the singing.... as he's my friend, and he said "yes Undertone, it's true.... Coldplay is breaking up."

>>By Undertone   (Thursday, 27 May 2004 13:06)

Amy Lee said it apparently. It's good to know that I know someone who's friends with Chris Martin. I'd that close to Coldplay. Yay!

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Friday, 28 May 2004 09:07)

Yes, I thought I heard Amy Lee mention something about it, when I was worshipping him.

>>By Undertone   (Friday, 28 May 2004 13:01)

What was she doing there? Does she worship Coldplay too? If so, good for her. I adore the Live 2003 DVD.

>>By Flake 1.6   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 13:15)

No, I was wishing Amy Lee. I think Chris worships him sometimes also.

>>By Undertone   (Saturday, 29 May 2004 22:00)

Wishing, eh... Why is Amy Lee still male?

>>By Flake 1.6   (Sunday, 30 May 2004 17:33)

*waves* Coldplay rock my ass! Only Superstition is a really cool song - I don't know why they don't do more stuff like that...

>>By Flake 1.6   (Thursday, 15 Jul 2004 16:57)

Aww, what? Comment on Coldplay! They're awesome.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Friday, 6 Aug 2004 22:08)

Blandplay.

>>By litgirl   (Saturday, 7 Aug 2004 00:15)

they are great. its not up for discussion.

>>By Ronza   (Tuesday, 10 Aug 2004 19:50)

I wud say coldplay "rock" but, they're so much better than that. I wish there was a more musically complementary word than "rock". But neways hooray for Coldplay! woo! :-D

>>By Wiglaf   (Tuesday, 10 Aug 2004 20:19)

::sighs:: they are oh so sassy and oh so lovely, ::i want to live life, and always be true, i want to live life and be good to you, i wanna fly and never come down::
...................yay...................

>>By Singme2smiths   (Tuesday, 10 Aug 2004 21:59)

Just want to comment on the discussion a page earlier.
Mahli was right. We really should discuss their music, because that's subjective. The thing with Gwyneth isn't something to discuss about. it's not ours to decide. That's a fact we can't change.
Like Yoko Ono. Well, some say she's the cause of the Beatles' break-up. It doesn't matter anymore. We still have the Beatles, their music I mean.
The only bad thing about an eventual Coldplay break-up is that they won't be able to bring out any new albums, or songs, and they won't be able to perform live.
But some of us never even get the chance to see them live. I don't think they'll ever sing live in Pakistan, Lybia, Trinidad and Tobago or Romania for example.
And new albums....What about the old ones? That's enough to be legends, though i wouldn't want them to stop, nono. Don't ever stop!- though that's not ours to decide either.
But if they do stop, i think there are plenty of great songs to cherish.
I still think they're good.

Discuss their music? how many ways can you say "middle class whinging shit"?

>>By monkeyfeet   (Tuesday, 7 Sep 2004 10:27)

Coldplay are good.

>>By Trenounde   (Tuesday, 7 Sep 2004 15:21)

yeah, they're good indeed.i like their 1st album best though....
and where did they go lately?

>>By Eli_Molko   (Tuesday, 14 Sep 2004 13:14)

Gwyneth Paltrow destroyed them ):
Their first album is better, yeah... but A Rush of Blood to the Head is excellent. But I really do adore Parachutes.

>>By Flake 1.6   (Tuesday, 14 Sep 2004 17:22)

Can you define "middle class whinging shit" monkeyfeet?

>>By Csongi   (Friday, 17 Sep 2004 11:06)

Coldplay are lower-upper class, like Radiohead. I've yet to hear them whinge and their music is not at all shit. It's as musically brilliant as the best emo songs with the catchiness of rock music.

>>By Flake 1.6   (Friday, 17 Sep 2004 17:53)

Coldplay lacks heaviness.

>>By Obfuscated   (Saturday, 25 Sep 2004 14:10)

Wow - Fl8a H8a and Trundertone managed to take up most of this page....

I've never actually heard an entire Coldplay song, but I like what I hear. I like the piano in some of their songs... I will learn them...
Congratulations on being one of the very few existing bands I like.

>>By Tchock   (Saturday, 25 Sep 2004 21:25)

wow,Tchock, they must be so proud!!!:)))
aaaaand, haha,Flake 1.6-may be you're right about Gwyneth Paltraw, she could have been the one who destroyed them:)))))))
thr last thing i heard was that they are done with the soft rock, and are going heavier...but then, they didn't do anything...which is strange.
i really like the band,i hope they'll get together and do something good!cause their music is very touching!

>>By Eli_Molko   (Saturday, 25 Sep 2004 23:56)

I still like this band despite the 2nd album which I thought was a little disappointing. I wanted to hear "Animals", "Murder", and especially "Idiot" on the new album. "Idiot" is an awesome song in my opinion. Did they release that as a b-side yet? All I'm gonna say about thier newer material is that Chris needs to get off his ass and start playing guitar again. He shouldn't be in such a hurry to become the next Elton John. I'm not asking them to go hard rock or whatever but they need to have heavier moments in thier songs. The live pre-album version of "A Rush of Blood To the Head" is much grungier during the chorus. They used to be my favorite band but they got knocked off because it seems like they lost any edge they had. Parachutes is still one of my top 10 though.

>>By tasty_wheat   (Monday, 27 Sep 2004 03:42)

I think Coldplay have a future in the Death Metal industry.

>>By Obfuscated   (Tuesday, 28 Sep 2004 00:35)

Somehow I doubt that... I like the songs with piano. I have never heard Idiot. Whgat's that like??
I think A Rush of Blood to the Heard would have been very different with Animals on there... Crests of Waves is a nice song - I hope that's the direction they're moving in now. If indeed they're moving in any direction. When will there be a new album?? We've waited 2 years and only got a live DVD.

>>By Bitch Fit   (Wednesday, 27 Oct 2004 17:01)

You know what? Coldplay used to be one of my favourite bands, but the new album stinks - the only song I like is Speed of Sound - they're sounding like U2 for God's sake! This is unacceptable; looks like it's death metal all the way for me, Obfuscated *listens to Meshuggah instead*

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Monday, 13 Jun 2005 19:11)

X & Y has been on continuous play lately. i'm in love with it, not to say that i've never loved coldplay to begin with because they are fabulous.

>>By rina colada   (Tuesday, 14 Jun 2005 07:45)

Coldplay songs and video clips are pure emotion. They really love what they do and that love is clear in their song. The great affinity between the group helps it a lot as well. Almost everyone I know like their music... I bet they'll make history.

>>By peacemaker   (Monday, 7 Nov 2005 21:48)

They make so wonderful music with so great lyrics!!!!
It's music for chilling in the afternoon, when you come home and just wanna sleep.
