What can I say 'bout Coldplay? They're magicall, their music is fulfilled with passion and listening 2 them makes m go crazy!!! When they came 2 Portugal, I couln't go 2 their show (I felt like dying) and a friend called me from the show... well, it's undescribable the way I felt!!! I agree with the person who said above that wants her kids (when she has them) 2 listen 2 good music, and for that, I also hope them 2 be around here for as long as they live, because the universe, without their music, it's graceless, empty... Their positions towars the actual situations in our planet are just so dignifying, so beautiful, that I often get speachless... COLDPLAY, U'RE THE BEST************************************************************************************ Lisbon (ESJO) =o}

i wish i could talk to "can't believe it".
if she/he would have listened to this album before commenting on it,
she would have heard chris (the singer) praising and pleading to God.
"come up to meet you/ tell you i'm sorry/ you don't know how lovely you are/
i had to find you/ tell need you/ tell you i set you apart/... i was just guessing
at numbers and figures/ pulling the puzzles apart/
questions of science/ science and progress/ do not speak as loud as my heart"

"in my place/ were lines that i couldnt change/ i was lost/
crossed lines i shouldnt have crossed/
how long must you wait for it/ how long must you pay for it/

if you go and leave me down here on my own/
i'll wait for you (Jesus)/

please come back and sing to me/ to me/ sing it loud/ now"

the whole album is a love letter to God

"green eyes/ how could anybody deny you/ i came here with a load/ now it feels so much lighter now i met you"   (Wednesday, 18 Jun 2003 19:36)

Unfortunately, all of you seem to avoid the fact that Coldplay never mentions the name of Jesus through out their entire album. If Coldplay's album is suppossed to be a love letter to God then how come they never clearly state who they are talking to. Sure they have lyrics that suggest that they could be talking to God. However, you could twist their lyrics to point in any direction that you want to. I think that this is simply another band who doesn't know where to point their heart-felt lyrics. Coldplay as well as other borderline Christian bands forget that there is Power in the name of Jesus...

"There is no other name by which men can be saved."

Although Coldplay has a positive message they can not be considered a Christian band. The true definition of a Christian band is a group that out rightly professes their relationship with Jesus Christ through their lyrics.

Writing love letters to God is humanlike, and naive, just like us. However, we have to pay tribute to God, to thank him for creating us, and not letting us go. We can only pay tribute by living the life He's given us. This music is much of a help in a struggle for living is God's honor.

ps> My favourite song is Amsterdam.

Ladder to the Sun is such a brilliant song. It's so simply, definitely Coldplay. If I had to show someone what Coldplay was about, I'd play them Ladder to the Sun. It's not their best and it's not their worst, but it says a lot about them. There is of course a lot more to Coldplay than this one song, but it's overlooked when it should be the first song on an album.
I don't know what Power in the name of Jesus is supposed to mean, because I just said Jesus (and I did it again!) and I don't feel especially powerful. A Rush of Blood to the Head IS a love letter to God, and I love Coldplay for making it. Remember that it was extremely popular for a very long time after coming out, but how many people would have bought it if they'd thought that Coldplay was a preaching Christian band? The good preacher converts the heathen subtly.
I was listening to Crests of Waves as I typed this. It's my favourite B-side (from Clocks) by any band, and Chris sings brilliantly in it. It makes me realise that Coldplay's songs are twice as deep as any other band's music, and they have a lot of musical talent to add to the meaning.

Hehe Rog' you shound like me describing emo!

>>By punk_child_8713   (Friday, 12 Sep 2003 03:18)

Coldplay isn't depressing though! Coldplay makes me very happy because I can sing to it and it puts ideas in my head. I can really to entire songs because none of them have dumb meanings. Green Eyes means some really special things to me.

>>By Brazilman   (Friday, 12 Sep 2003 08:53)

:) A lot of songs mean things to me. and no, they're not all emo. Maybe I should get off this board as I'm taking away from the coldplayness...

I am really looking forward to Coldplay's third album, because looking at their first two it can only be great. Each album has its own unique message and the music is basically perfectly performed in every song. I expect the next album will be involving love, but that's just speculation from an obsessive Coldplay fan.

Coldplay is Great

Aww, I can't believe Gwyneth and Chris got married in secret... that is so stupid. Curse Gwyneth Paltrow - she's going to tear Coldplay apart.

The songs are just wonderful - when I ascend to heaven I want Yellow to be playing in the background.

hey im not a big Coldplay fan but id just like to show off a bit and say CHRIS MARTIN WENT TO MY SCHOOL (Exeter Cathedral School) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH yeah my music teacher has this big poster on the music room wall saying "Thanks for starting it all off - chris" hahahahaha

>>By idontknowdotcom23   (Saturday, 10 Jan 2004 21:50)

i really like Cold Play. I love Chris. He got married to the "Yoko Ono" of Gweneth Paltro. i dislike her very much. i just hope she does't REALLY seperate the band.

>>By Box Trapped   (Friday, 16 Jan 2004 21:59)

i love coldplay...their music is beyond words...nothing i write could come close to describing what i feel when listening to them. And it is not fair to compare Gwenyth to Yoko.....she hasn't done anything, and for those of you who dislike her simply because she is with Chris...well that doesn't say much about you....so let them be and discuss the music, not the personal lives of the members.

>>By Mahli   (Saturday, 17 Jan 2004 22:27)

Cold Play is very interesting. and yes i admit that it doesnt show much of me by comparing Gwenyth to Yoko but i still feel that she is something big in the band...like break them up. i have that fear and wouldn't like for that to happen.so i apologize Mahli.

>>By Box Trapped   (Wednesday, 28 Jan 2004 22:04)

I feel the same about Gwyneth - but I'm probably just an obsessed fan panicking about a little nothing. It would be a horrible tragedy if Coldplay split up any time soon, but their music would still live on in my CD player!
A Rush of Blood to the Head was such a success it's unbelievable! How can such a great band be so popular? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but Coldplay have never had a number 1 single (at least not in this country), so why was the album so popular with the mainstream crowd?

>>By Flake 1.6   (Thursday, 4 Mar 2004 23:40)

simply to say,
they make the music of love.

Listen yellow!!!

>>By Must-afa   (Friday, 5 Mar 2004 22:10)

"Yellow" is without doubt a lovely love song. If I may say, it was a couple of years ahead of its time as well. It's amazing how well it fits in with the other songs on the album as well... Coldplay's albums work brilliantly - I'm not so sure about the singles though. I'm sure "i bloom blaum" doesn't belong on "In My Place". I like it anyway.

Coldplay put a smile on my face =)

i dont think gwyneth will do anything to coldplay. THEY'RE GENIUS!

>>By eatengold   (Monday, 29 Mar 2004 08:29)

cold play..they are geniuses and they were ahead of their time for a couple of songs and thats what makes them so unique....their music sorrounds me with rhythm never heard before...

>>By Box Trapped   (Thursday, 1 Apr 2004 00:59)

C'mon guys, you really think that Gwyneth Paltrow will split Coldplay? Why? How? She Can't Just make Chris "quit the band" (of that i'm not really sure, but) and she loves his music just as much as she loves him so there would be little point of her wanting to split the band. The only problem I see is that the other band members might get jealous, but I highly doubt that would happen because the splitting of the band will probably make their careers go downhill (I think we all agree that Chris Martin is probably the biggest provider for the music).
and since the two of them love each other so much, why should you care about their marriage, after all it was their decision and even if this action was somehow a risk to the band then i'm sure it was a risk that Chris was willing to take.
yeah, that's pretty much it.
Oh yeah, their marriage should have stayed private, it's cause thats what they wanted.
What I'm trying to say is, he doesn't live to keep you guys happy, thats only part of his "job".

As good as Coldplay? www.markharding.com

>>By Mark Harding   (Friday, 16 Apr 2004 14:20)

Ssshhh, nothing's as good as Coldplay. They're the best.
It may be a risk he's willing to take, but he's putting his love for Gwyneth over the welfare of the band. Okay, I'd do the same in his situation, but surely this is something we should be worried about. I think she's already delayed the release of the third album, because he's spending more time with his wife than writing songs. If she causes them to split up, we're screwed. But if Chris realises that his fans feel so strongly, he'll probably work harder to keep them happy.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Friday, 16 Apr 2004 14:39)

Coldplay are awesome! They've inspired a lot of bands with their combination of classic rock instruments and piano. I think they're all extremely talented musicians (Will Champion is just amazing) and the songs are wonderful. But I guess if you don't like that sort of thing, you won't like Coldplay. However, they're perfectly capable of performing different styles of music. They even did a punk version of Trouble - it's on their Live 2003 DVD. By the way, if you don't have that DVD, you should definitely get it. It's totally worth it.
