hey. if you ppl like "Atmosphere" n with his music and lyrics then i rekon ull love "bliss'n'esoterikizm". theyre an australian rap/hip hop group with amazing lyrics and beats. theyre pretty hard to find though as theyre not very well known (australian rappers arent very publisized) but if you do go searching for them youll find that it was well worth it.
particularly look out for the song "lyrical wilderness". that should be the easiest to find. its on the "culture of kings" cd.
you can also check out some of their music on their site www.blissneso.com

I love Atmosphere! Slug is the best and good ups to Shh. Thats a great song, especially cause I'm from MN. Slug is talented and real - he's fuckin awesome. P.S. Does anyone know if they're having any concerts anytime soon?

Like damn I'm from Minnesota,
Land of the cold air...
So when the people laugh and giggle when you tell them where you live say shhh, shhh
And if you know this is where you wanna raise you're kids say shhh, shhh
If you're from the midwest and it doesn't matter where say shhh, shhh
If you can drink tap water and breath the air say shhh shhh
-Shhh

where upon a magic land lies sleeplesly underhand hit my lawfull jaw of loveless grinding pawed...
howither upon my lakeless spine yet inudated by lime, my back hurt of time bent the wrong way.
Grey walks a butler talks to me, Cecilia, herethertoe, where did you drop yourself, where are your toes, nothing more glows, a butler knows.
Ugh strip bar i hate it here, just another deer head mounted on the wall, drool over my lime on my back, another night of slack. perk my nipples into your face, no milk here, just dry boob, dry body, sit on my stool and wait.
maybe slug will come and see me .

>>By Lindsey <----- from Aesop Disscussion   (Thursday, 26 Jun 2003 19:48)

I am just wondering why the people on this forum cannot spell. Is it really that hard to write in English? Your lucky its not even Mandarin or Hungarian, even French. What is this junk above me "any body wantin to speak on it hitma up at aim under ladypimph.."
The worst is that mr. hiphopfoeva is on the internet, spending money somehow to gain accesibility into the world. Well the best way to do that is to be able to make some sense.
This is not a commentary on the disadvantaged, but a critisism on the lazy comfortable wannabes. Be you be smart read detective stories, play baseball anything that pulls you away from that world which talks to you like your a retarded four year old and , you answer back.

>>By plucked chiken   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 06:30)

Okay, first you're talking about people not spelling right and whatever look at your name chiken... do you mean chicken. Second I heard about atmosphere from a telemarketer from chicago that called my house, I live in Maine and I don't think many people from here know about atmosphere. Im was never really into hip hop that much until recently. Most rap music I hear is about bitches, hoes, weed, and 9's so its cool to hear something different.

WOW...atmosphere is probably one of my favorite groups in hip hop. SLUG:an intelligent individual who knows the game and knows his shit.and he does it well!he has truely made a difference in the underground hip hop culture, but is not the only one........most people on here talk about atmosphere like they are the greatest.....they are good, but do half of you guys even know what real hip hop is?.....i mean yeah, Slug may inspire many of you out there, but have you ever thought about "WHO INSPIRES SLUG?".....you know hip hop DIDNT start with atmosphere. there are a lot of pioneers out there such as:Slick Rick, Dana Dane, Salt'N'Pepa, Fearless Four, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-ONE, Biz Markie, Boogie Down Productions, Doug E. Fresh, Eric B. and Rakim, Afrika Baambata, Fat Boys, Ghostface, Kool Moe Dee, LL Cool J, M.O.P.......and many more that i cant think of....so maybe you should all do your research!.....maybe it will do some good for YOU!......if you want to hear some genious poetry...listen to SAGE FRANCIS.....you wont be dissapointed!....for me....i hate listening to babbling kids who think they know all about hip hop.....and im not saying that i know everything there is to know, but at least i know the value of good music...and it doesnt always have to be hip hop.....jazz is another genre of music i like....but back to the topic........YOU KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT...those kids that listen to that shit on the radio...."commercial rap".....and all they have to talk about is bitches, money and cars!....i just sit there and think to myself "what the fuck are you talking about?!?!".....how can these people actuall make a living believing that their shit is dope!.....its just half-ass cats with no creativity whatsoever....Those with skill might get paid less, but they take pride in how much harder it is to be original than it is to mumble over tracks and stagnate this art form with tired topics.
any comments: mihzhiphop@yahoo.com.....
but really..i didnt come here to smash on atmos....i love them..there hella dope!!!...and as i said earlier...Slug has truely made a difference in hip hop...and in my life as well!!

>>By mihzhiphop   (Monday, 7 Jul 2003 20:56)

I love atmosphere. they've changed me, I've listened to them in super hard times in my life. However, most you guys sound like idiots. it's unfortanute, and makes me nervous. It seems like Slug's rhymes and Ant's beats have become the national white-friendly rap. I guess thats okay, and underground hip hop is more focused on a higher understanding than on race, but if you're into atmosphere don't stop there. There are other good white rappers if you need that to feel accepted: Eyedea, Eligh, The Grouch...but if your listening to them simply for their ability to rhyme combined with their pasty complection than your missing the point. Scarub is amazing, along with the whole ll crew, Aceyalone, Busdriver, etc. And don't ignore hip hop's history either (listen to KRS ONE, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, etc), or the understanding that it did come from black culture, and to get past race barriors we have to first acknowledge them. Sorry to preach to all of you. I'm learning too. Just a mixed race girl trying to make sense of this all. <3

you either make me or break me and when u break me im broken
you always pull me back to hell after my heaven just opened
all the feelings of ur love are like the waves in ocean
one day is fuckin big and the next days a joke and
this virgos getting pissed
how much shit can dish
how much shit will i take?
before i hit a fucking breaking point
joints, is what i need to calm down
after getting off the phone with u i feel like a clown
putting on a fucking show
and i dont even know
in my habitat is where the fat
doobies are smoked
to ease my fucking mind
cause im going insane
i feel a little fucking high but the pain still remains
pondering, wondering
across the desert in chains
begging for a sip of water or a droplet of rain
my domain hasnt changed seaside apartments
if u think u got the range come over and start shit

atmoshpere has made me see what life is about
no materials or hear and nows

thanx slug

I cannot express how much i appreciate Slug. He is so great, great enough to be compared to KRS-one. There is nothing more i would want ion my life time than to meet slug. I love him, it he is so real and so original. If i ever meet a man that can write and think like slug than i will fall in love. His lyrics are life changing, they make you think. The puoint is i have found myself to be truly ubsessed with atmosphere and i cannot wait until he tours Colorado. But i am having trouble finding when he is. Basically i love Slug of atmosphere.

callouses upon my mind make me strain for my lines
out I ripped it, squeeeeezed the brain: it made some liquid
drained it in a cup and then I sipped it

>>By OceanBubbles   (Sunday, 7 Sep 2003 06:52)

Aight Aight...since i was twelve i been listenen tah the unique styles of Atmosphere....and feel in love with slug's style and Anthony's beats....The thought that someone could express music the way slug does was amazing...And the fact money and mainstream never really effected his abilitys....I picked up "Seven Travels" the other day....and i was impressed...then a b-boys friend of mine told me to check out "etertainment magazine"..and told me to turn to page 92 i think it was...wtf is this bull...an article on aesop and slug..comparing them to eminem..i mean i knnew that signin to Epitaph would change a lot...because call those lil punk rocker kids would have a chance to take slug in...(**Takes RhymeSayers stickers of wall**)...i presee the future...i see slug rockin n'sync fans a madison square garden...or stop at a light...turn my head and see some black guy wearin a leather suit...and a cane by his side...bumpin If i was santa clause...that will be the end of hip-hop....no "pun intended to slug"...the Sellout emcee who you spend your precious time shouting out too..that, will never actually read or see any of these posts...
Im just a little confused....The whole point of underground hip-hop is love..loving your music so much that you dont need to sign to a semi-huge record label..(why didnt he just sign to shady records??)...but still, we both know your going to be on mtv net eh?...doing duets with pink...

I have respect for you slug...but your ruining all your biast perspectives about the normal radio head...

Asslyum...

I don't understand people bouncing around these message boards with the soul purpose of dissing an artist, a group or an artform. I also don't necessarilly understand some of the people who are so completely infatuated with an artist that all they have to say is "oh my god, atmosphere is the shit."
it seems that probably nine out of 10 of those posting on this board are bringing nothing but mindless banter and ignorance.
i think it is completely absurd to jump on a board and diss someboy's art (notably GOOD TASTE). to me, hip hop is an art, even if it is some of those mainstream jackoffs. those mainstream jackoffs are reaching somebody just as Slug and Atmosphere are. whether or not you enjoy what the artist has to say, i think there should still be some level of respect that he/she has the balls to put their thoughts on the table.
since i've old enough to form thoughtful opinions, i've always had problems with comparing one artist to another. it's all a matter of preference. you are going to prefer the style and/or sound which an artist brings that better relates to you, your life, what you're going through, a single mindstate, etc.
so, while i'm glad to see artists such as atmosphere getting attention on boards such as this because it proves there is more exposure right now, it's mind-blowing how few people have posted something worth reading.
i'd like to know what people think of the track with Sage Francis on the sevens travels disk. i've been trying to dissect it, but i haven't come up with anything at all very clear. let me know if you have any thoughts.

Anyone who sais Atmopshere is bad, should go watch MTV and be happy with it. Atmosphere is the best thing to hit hip-hop, he made me realize Eminem is pure garbage. Slug is real, and his rhymes are smart, not just some "rolling on dubs" crap spits them with flow and rhythem. The best artist out there, he should do a record with Blackalicious, Dilated Peoples, or Aceyalone, that'd be some nice flow.

do i sound mad?
well i guess im a little pissed
every action has a point,
five points make a fist
you close em , you swing em
it hurts when it hits
and the truth can be a bitch
but if the boot fits
i got an idea
you shoud get a tattoo that says warning
thats all
just a warning
so the potential victim can take a left and save breath
and avoid you
sober and unupset in the morning
i wanna scream fuck you lucy
but the problem is i love you lucy
so instead, im a finish my drink and have another
while you think about how you used to be my lover

just wanna say thanx to atmosphere and i love ya
