"how many times must you prove you're angel?
how many more demons do you need to strangle?
how much longer must you remain in this dream -
before i finally figure out if you're insane or a genius?" - atmosphere/lovelife

I can't believe this music. Where I grew up, there was no such thing as good hip-hop. MTV played shit, and there was simply no hip-hop presence. I got introduced to Atmosphere by a friend, and before then, I had never heard a hip-hop song make me sit back and say "Whoa." This music has hit me in a profound way that I thought impossible of this genre of music.

This is life right here.

If I
Could show you
You would

Leave it

Before I heard Atmosphere, I didn't listen to hip hop just because everything I had heard sounded the same and none of it had any application to myself. This is some of the most amazing and surprising music that I have heard in years. Its great to hear smart artists creating beautiful music that hits you hard and makes you think.

What could you say as the earth gets further and further away?

The first time that I heard atmoshphere, I felt like someone had tapped into my head. Sorry to burst your bubble, slug, you're pretty damn beautiful.

Atmosphere is the shit man, i haven't been so inspired in a long time i'm not big into hip hop, which speaks even more for atmosphere they turned me a, Staright Metal Head, into a person who is open to all types of music now. I'm glad i found them out and gave them a shot. They are talented and slug is the most creative lyrisist i have heard in a while. keep it up guys.

Atmosphere i believe could be huge underground if we can pass it on to other like love sould be passed on. Today for example i gave a fellowclassmate 4 cd's because he rhyms and i thought he should hear some dope tunes. If you dont tell everyperson bout them nothign will happen. No one knew atmosphere at my school, now when i drive home i hear boys blasting it from their systems.
peace love
and atmosphere if you come to chi-town i will be there

atmosphere is a beautiful thing. taking the pointless world of rap, pulling it underground and working it into something truly amazing. i used to be straight punk rock. then i heard atmosphere, since then i have opened my eyes to many other types of music. slug is one intelligent mother fucker, and flows like no other.

live lightly

>>By john   (Thursday, 13 Feb 2003 23:18)

atmosphere is the shit...plain and simple. a lot of people are thick headed and believe that if ur not black or ur name's not eminem ur not alot to rap, but slug juss blows them out of the water lyrically. i hope they get big so they can come to my town, reading pa.

This is hip-hop where it needs 2 be.......

>>By paco from Detoit   (Monday, 24 Feb 2003 04:48)

Yeah
Atmosphere is cool, but some of y'all are talking like they invented hip hop. Haven't y'all ever heard of The Roots, Dead Prez, Fugees, Mos Def, etc,,, The list goes on and on and on and on and on the list goes on and on and on and on and on, I give them total props especially slug and eyedea but let's not forget they the only one and one and one and one. They are deep and that's what's cool, probably deeper than you'll even come close to, so why don't you take it in instead of talking about their rhymes and not even understanding them before you recite them.

first time i heard atmosphere was in this guys car and i just sat there whil i waited for him to finish his cigarette, and when he got in i was like, damn, this is good, who the hell is this? and like, 5 days later i had the cd. these guys are the shit. all the hip hop im used to hearin is by these black guys who really sing about the same shit over and over again. and the whole fact thats hes cute has nothing to do with my respect for their music, but it sure is nice!!!

Yo Slug Is off the hook there is something about this guy that just has me hooked to his lyrics like a crack head. He really doesn't come too complex and he doesn't use that much word play but he has unique metaphors and he is really deep. Plus he seems like a lazy ass mother fucker just like me.

One Love 2
Slug

>>By Strick Nizzle   (Sunday, 23 Mar 2003 06:31)

what to say: sick . in a word the only thing that motivates me to be . i love slug . kindred spirits prob not . but i relate to the words he speaks . complex metaphors for life, the way it doesn't work . ill . ive caught so many commercial-hip-hop-loving-beat-seeking-lyric-loving southern california tricks onto slug and his madness . the thing that's tite about him is that he'll never appeal to everyone, so this cult-classic flow that permeates the subculture of rap lovers, its ours and ours alone. slug is not the next big thing, he is the BIGGEST thing . the SH*T in other words for us underground hip hop loving freaks. aight im out . hit me up on AIM - xonefinecaligalx or my email onefinecaligal@hotmail.com if you have something to say about Slug or just hip hop in general. Im down and im out. PEACE .

one of a kind. these cats are genuine article, atmosphere gives hip hop a needed shot in the arm. and for anyone who ain't hip hop but catch themselves bumpin slug tracks, take this as a sign. good music is out there, you just gotta turn down the radio and put an to ear to the street, you might find somethin you like just below the concrete.

ya know.... Slug raps different. I've been a rap/hip hop/whatever fan forever... I was always into hard ass shit like X-raided and brother lynch... then one day i heard slug..
after that it was over.. i was borrowing Cd's like crazy...
all my friends from the bay, and from santa cruz had his shit... why didn't I? what the fuck? how could I miss out like this?
i remember getting all the Cd's I could and then smoking blunt after blunt and bong load after bong load... disecting his lyrics and realizing how much they related to me... it's like he picked out all the words and thoughts inside of my head and put them together to make a beautiful poem/song. You see, most of his songs are poems, just read his lyrics with no beat.....
it's kinda crazy, i guess....
i show people his music and they blow it off... but I think that a big reason i listen to slug is the words... and i guess some people are so simple minded that they don't notice what he's saying... or what he "really means" .....I mean dont' get me wrong, I listen to the beat... and let me tell you ... "ANT" has the sickest beats...... it's just some people only notice that..and nothing else.....
i have a good friend that lives in swizterland, i met him when he came as an exchange student my senior year in high school... I had more in commen with this fool than i did with some people i've been friends with my whole life...
I showed this guy X-raided, etc... he liked him...
I showed him slug and he liked him too....
Me and him are the same person... we both listen to music for both the lyrics and the beat....
If he, even from swizerland likes slug and eyedea and the grouch, etc... then it proves it.... slug IS sick.
sicker than most people know....
it's too bad though... that we are the lucky one's....
keep listening, he'll always be sick...
and if your ever drinking Budweiser...
Chug one for me and Markus.... 30B - Stlye
late....

Slug has probably the best music out there right now. Actually, he does. His lyrics are meaningful and from the heart. I hope he never loses that. All of the "rappers" you see on Tv either suck, have someone else right there shit, or both. Much respect for Slug and I hope that he keeps making albums because I'm going to keep buying them. I myself write and freestyle. I'm not that good but I'm getting better. I would be a fool to say Slug hasn't inspired me in one way or another.

Man....none of you know what the hell you're talking about......
How can you call someone a good lyricist if you dont know HipHop?!
Atmosphere is ok.....nothing amazing....I guess he is more conscious than others, but thats about it....
He needs to up his game if he wants to be known as a rapper/MC/lyricist.....

Peace....

Atmosphere is my favorite artist. Not just out of poets, and musicians, but artists in general.Slugs art form is pure expression of his soul.I never thought there could be rap that questions life, expresses deep feelings and puts them into poetry. His music is incredibly identifiable if youre a thinker. "the only thing on my mind is everything". He needs to keep making music, and I'll be listening. And he should stay underground, i dont want stupid people listening to him, because everyone else is. Question everything

>>By Pete   (Tuesday, 15 Apr 2003 06:08)
