to me as a musician the crucial character in the Fab Four story is Brian Epstein. Without this brilliant person we'd never had the Beatles music in our life. I tell what: There's no such man nowadays, he was the person, which really is underrated I'm sure...

Who was Brian Epstein?

So yeah, my take on the beatles. People who claim they are overrated miss the point. Without them there would be very little out there by which to make any sort of comparison. Its kind of like saying the primordeal soup from whence life sprang is overrated compared with todays humans. I rest my case.

Central point 'bout their music is this unique inspiration when you have a nice team of pals. Added by an uncomparable vocal purity and harmonizing approach it makes it even more attractive. I am not a blind fan of the Beatles - take the Byrds and you'll feel similar marvels in play. So many fantastic artists in this world. But somehow they all come down to the Beatles...

And yes, I just need to live my life with the Beatles, that's the way it goes

I don't think the Beatles were overrated. Music was MUCH different in their heyday, the 60s- 70s. The Beatles were breakthrough artists that created a whole new style and started many new trends. They inspired countless artists and musicians. Sure, they weren't the four most talented guys ever, but when you consider what the music was like back then, the Beatles were great for their time.

Listen to Rubber Soul.... No band ever will churn out anything similar. Each song is a pure magic

The Beatles are like none other. The White album is amazing.

I was astounded by the very fact that phrases and elements from Beatles music were to be found on albums of bands like Yes, D.Purple and even Pink Floyd...
>>By Vallerius (Tuesday, 1 Feb 2005 16:50)
I definitely think they cast a big shadow on everything that happens in world of music today

>>By Vallerius (Thursday, 24 Feb 2005 15:58)
And you know what? I'm having big time just performing the Fab Four music live onstage with my band and believe me - this is absolutely insane!
>>By Vallerius (Monday, 28 Feb 2005 17:43)
Gosh, you don't know how it feels performing Beatles songs onstage with a good band of your own!

>>By Jane (Saturday, 5 Mar 2005 04:16)

I deeply respect Paul seeing he's performing live to this day, and he really is great singer and an extraordinaty bass player, something that many folks don't see behind his many talents...

The Beatles aren't overrated, but to say they are the best band of all time is somewhat narrowminded. To some they are to others they are not. The Beatles influenced many bands to come after them, but their influence is somewhat exaggerated. Many of the bands from the 60s and 70s were heavily influenced not by The Beatles, but by the blues. Black blues music from the 30s-50s influenced bands like The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, and many more. However, will any band ever be as highly respected as The Beatles? Other than one or two bands, probably not.
>>By GetTheLedOut (Monday, 28 Mar 2005 18:10)
versatility, is the key word for the beatles. i've yet to hear any other band that has so many different sounds.
>>By coca (Monday, 28 Mar 2005 18:33)
Sure, somebody like the Yes group really is the best musical group ever... But to have so much greatness in one early days band, this is unbelievable by any measure. You may try and find many bands, where there are good musicians at work, but you'll never find so many great talents, real talents within any other band ever since... I know what I'm talking about, I really am a musician myself. You may find and bring into a certain group nice players, but you'll never manage it to assemble and unite big talents who are aware of what they're doing. And blues is what it really is - it is blues and there it ends, whereas making music requires a bit of something else ocurring, something unexpected and fascinating.

All I want to say is this: Just look around you, and it'd turn obvious there's nobody even coming close to something John, Paul, George and Ringo were, both as musicians and humans. These days you ain't got anybody to make a smart band with. That's the main point about the whole story. The world gets insane with every day and so does the music... go figure!

The Beatles just released four new albums, all at once, in 2004, titled "The Capitol Albums Vol 1". Not bad for a band who have been around for 40 years.
>>By spikee (Thursday, 7 Apr 2005 01:44)
The band as such is no more. Those "new" albums are sheer song compilations... Actually they don't need to make any new music, seeing that their input into world of music is very tremendous anyway. There can't be a group with half of the line-up not alive... But all the same theirs is an enormous contribution into music of today. One thing is good about any music - is has no past tense.

john lennon idolized frank zappa frank zappa idolized nicholas strominski the beatles, especially john and george wrote some amazing music. paul is one of the greatest pop singer/writers of all time...but john and george seemed to have an ability to mesh vivid imagery with beautiful melodies. i love the eastern influence coming in the late sixties...love 'within you without you'...still one of the best songs of all time

I love The Beatles. They're one of my favorite bands. I'm actually listening to ''The Beatles 1" right now :-)
>>By Valienc (Tuesday, 12 Apr 2005 05:31)
Frank Zappa actually jammed with Lennon... They performed a few numbers onstage. Yeah, Beatles pioneered what today is known as world music cross over... Me, personally, I appreciate their celtic background in all that. They were a British band above all.
