Franz Ferdinand

I don't care about their sexual preferences... Franz Ferdinand rock! I've read an interview, they said that their next album will be more like Auf Achse... it should mean more synths and 80's electro pop and less guitars, we'll see Auf Achse reminds me of a Blondie's song... Am I the only one?

i have never heard of it...so, i can't really say. i know it may sound a bit strange, but, their musical style remind me a bit of Adam Ant.

Has the topic returned to Franz Ferdinand yet?
Jesus, some people just love talking about "issues" don't they? The board is about Franz Ferdinand, not gay people.
They're a great band. Would love to see them live, and I recently worked out that infinitely catchy and instantly recognisable "Take Me Out" on guitar. 8D

don't they sound to you a bit like Adam Ant? Anyone?!:))))
>>By Eli_Molko (Wednesday, 1 Dec 2004 00:23)
Adam Ant? ...hmm.... well, they have a lot of 80's sound in them, so why not Adam Ant? :) But the first name that comes to my mind, don't know exactly why, is: Echo and the bunnymen.
>>By ZoT (Thursday, 2 Dec 2004 17:28)
yeah, you're right, it has something from Echo and The Bunnymen in them...not that i've listened to a lot of them, but, yeah, there definitely is something....plus something Adamantish...:)))))
>>By Eli_Molko (Thursday, 2 Dec 2004 18:17)
Yes, actually Darts of pleasure is adamantish :-)
>>By ZoT (Saturday, 4 Dec 2004 11:42)
Darts of Pleasure is slightly different from the other songs, I think, but it's still easily recognisable as Franz Ferdinand. Take me Out is my favourite song by them, but I jhave to say that I love the fact that all of the songs have really cool riffs! Especially Tell Her Tonight.

"So find me and follow me through corridors, refectories and files You must follow, leave this academic factory You will find me in the matinee The dark of the matinee It's better in the matinee The dark of the matinee is mine Yes it's mine"

Aww, i saw them in San Francisco some time ago, they are impeccable live!!!!!! They're sooooooooooooooooooo good!!!!! I didn't really expect them to be that good, really:)

They're the best band to come out of the UK since Oasis blew onto the scene in 1994. While they aren't as good as the aforementioned band, they are a high quality band. Why did we have to wait till 2004 for Alex Kapranos to go international? The guy is 33 already! Most bands break onto the scene when theyre around 22-25, their youngest member is 26, and their olded is either Alex or Bob. Anyhow, good group.

Rubbish - Coldplay were much better

A lot of British people are impatient and tend to demand change a lot. It's been a long time since I heard decent alternative music being played on mainstream radio and I think the death of John Peel has a lot to do with this.
The UK music scene almost died with the introduction of Pop Idol and X Factor which I have no time for whatsoever and truly believe that if this is indeed the way things are going, I will start looking outside my country for inspiration.
However, the introduction of Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs etc is starting to push these other poseurs out of the window and we are looking towards the kind of rock explosion we saw back in the early 90's with the likes of Blur, Pulp, Cast, Lightining Seeds and Paul Weller.
I can only hope that this sort of thing continues and people start to appreciate music that is actually played by real instruments and not these bloody club anthems / mobile ring tone tunes I get sick of hearing.
See, there are really only a handful of albums worth recommending from 2005 but this started to pick up speed towards October so with any luck, it will be a very happy new year for Brit Rock enthusiasts.

I'm annoyed that Franz Ferdinand seem to be part of the same of 'wave' of slightly similar bands as Keane and Kaiser Chiefs and the Magic Numbers and whoever else, since Franz Ferdinand are infinitely better than those bands.
>>By Flagg (Friday, 16 Dec 2005 16:30)
Infinitely better? That's a fairly bold statement... I like Keane, who are probably more original than Franz
>>By Sk8a H8a (Saturday, 17 Dec 2005 01:13)
Keane sound exactly like Coldplay. Which is okay...I suppose?
Franz Ferdinand are fun. That's it. Not good, nor bad, just "fun". Kapranos, the lead singer, kinda looks like David Byrne. All of them do, actually. I think it's not a coincidence that they do.
>>By CHARLOS (Saturday, 17 Dec 2005 01:58)
Well, that was an accurate statement - they really are fun. I don't think they can be compared to Keane. Keane are like Coldplay. They are moaning. I don't like them. But i like Coldplay though. Anyways, back to Franz Ferdinand- i know what you mean Neural Flux - about the bands, they indeed are a part of a new alternative music wave that can as well be appreciated by more people. And they just ROOOOOCK, they're sooooooooo fucking good live! They're flawless! Very artsy, and definitely know how to put on a good show! Which is exactly the thing i want if i am going on a gig like that!
>>By Eli_Molko (Saturday, 17 Dec 2005 05:22)
My point exactly. There is far too much manufactured pop going on and it's about time the UK had people playing real instruments for a change.
That crazy effin' frog can just curl up and die as well, twat that he is.

They have a lot of potential to be an amazing band. Instrumentally and vocally, they rock. They have a really good alternative sound... but their lyrics suck. I wish they would'nt waste their talent on shitty songs.
>>By Brittybop (Wednesday, 8 Oct 2008 01:21)
I like some of their lyrics. Their second album was a bit similar to the first for my liking, I was expecting them to be a bit more experimental with their style. I hope they release something new soon.
