These guys are good and most of their songs are really catchy, oh dear god am i turning to emo? are these guys emo? coz if they are.........

Would you finish your sentence? I got really caught up in your self-examination- I'm worried about you- and I want to know what happened. Did your head blow up? Also, the fear of becoming "emo" just because you enjoy the music of one band who might (but most probably are not) categorized as "emo" reminds me of the fear most heterosexual men have when they watch a movie featuring Christian Bale. Really, if one is going to be gay for a guy, it might as well be a pretty guy. Much better than it being Chuck Heston. So, in conclusion, nobody thinks you're gay, Breaker, but everyone assumes you have homosexual tendencies, which are almost common enough to be considered natural. Also, please update us on the progress of your sentence. I want to believe all has turned out well.

Yeah sorry, big day dream and lost track on what i was writing. And id just like to clear it out that there is no homosexuality in me and that im scared of liking emo stuff, ok i admit it, there! For a variety of reasons but nothing really worth mentioning otherwise il just get lectured...again.

Franz Ferdinand are AWESOME. I am just hoping that the lead singing isn't gay. Some of their lyrics make me suspicious. Like the song Michael, I think I spelled that wrong. But if he is gay I am going to be very mad, I think he is kind of good looking.
>>By Till63 (Tuesday, 20 Jul 2004 04:09)
why should someones sexual prefrence have anything to do with their music? if their music makes you feel good...isn't this what's important? why can't he just be an attractive man...why label him as a "gay" singer...
>>By giambotta (Tuesday, 20 Jul 2004 07:07)
If he is gay, you can still think he is a very attractive man. Even harder to get, isn't that the point with being attracted to popstars? I am quite sure thre are still oads of girls in love with George Michael.
and then again, only the music should count, another reason for me sounds like a dumb ass reason....
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004 11:16)
Btw, I as gay would like to know what is wrong with being gay?
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004 11:17)
and i as a person who loooooooves gay people wanna know that too!
anyways-the band is just totally amazing! the music just makes me feel so good, and the guys seem totally professional and on a level! i love them:)))))

Loving gays and hating gays for me is the same.
It is like saying I love all Turkish. Ofcourse I a preciate much more to be loved then to be hated from starting point, but both are a wrong starting point. They are based on bias.
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004 14:05)
yeah, cause both things are extremities, and not normal, cause they're not very logical. well, hun, you're probably the only gay that is kinda bugging me!happy now?:)))))))
>>By Eli_Molko (Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004 14:47)
what upsets me is when i hear someone say.."i love gay people" why are they funny....laughable...cute...like how tv portrays them...so use their life and their struggles to somehow justify their homosexulality.
yes...women probably still swoon over G. Micheal but how many of them condone or accept that he is gay. do you see the difference.
all the straight ppl here don't understand the harsh consequences of what happens to ppl when they come out in public...or they could if they had compassion...not pity
>>By giambotta (Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004 19:16)
yeah, you have a point here....see,but i know why i say "i love gay people",and it's not because they seem cute and funny on the tv. half of my friends are gay,and i have a very very good idea what are they like, and through what do they pass every single day.
and still i think this isn't a "gay" discussion, but a Franz Ferdinand one...well-Franz Ferdinand rock, and you know what-they wouldn't rock less if the vocalist is gay.they wouldn't rock more either. they just rock.
>>By Eli_Molko (Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004 20:44)
I find it very disturbing. I never said that gay people are bad, and I think that people should be able to do what they want to do. I know many gay people. I am hoping that the lead singer isn't gay because he is very good looking and, well I think everyone knows why it would piss me off if he was gay.

Funny discussion in a music board.
Eli, I once heard a black man say: "Seeing what we go through every day is not the same as knowing what we go through. You have to be black to understand that." I think this is the same for gay people. Your attitude towards gay people reminds me of an old disco hit: "So hip to be square" or the song "Bi" from Living Colour. I have some gay friends as well, and they are all different, some you wouldn't say they were gay and others are closer to queen then anything else. The only thing they have in common for me is that they are all nice people, and they fancy men over women. So I guess, besides the men thing, they are all just like my hetero friends. And the certainly don't like to be put into the big group that is called the gay community, they all want to be treated as individuals.
Isn't Eli Molko Bi sexual?
>>By Campking (Thursday, 22 Jul 2004 10:41)
from where did you figured i'm a bisexual? yeah, you're totally right here-they don't wanna be put in the group "gay comunity",they want to be treated as individuals!and that's normal.cause they are individuals, and the simple fact that we are talking like that is offencive! but it's just the way i am-i have a thing towards gay people, and can you blame me for that?just try! you are all so keen on arguing,so,go ahead!
>>By Eli_Molko (Thursday, 22 Jul 2004 14:12)
Positive discrimination is discrimination as well!
I wonder if you would recognize me as Gay when you would run in me in the street? So I wonder what is so special gay, that you don't find in hetero people that makes you like gay people soo much?
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Thursday, 22 Jul 2004 16:15)
well...some things just don't have explanation...i just like them.plus,i haven't said that i like gay people more than hetero people. so,i cannot give you a proper answer to the question you posed me...but,can you tell me Joris, what is so special about men, that you don't find in women, and makes you like men so much?!see-some things cannot be explained...may be i've been gay in my previous life:))))
>>By Eli_Molko (Thursday, 22 Jul 2004 17:53)
That's a rather ridicilous question, I don't think liking gay people because they are gay can be compared to being gay an d terefor liking men.
Btw, I ment Molko the singer of Placebo... Sorry...
>>By Campking (Thursday, 22 Jul 2004 18:06)
i don't think it's a ridiculous question!!!!!! i cannot explain why i love gay people.i just do.and,i don't think a gay can explain why he loves men! and, yeah,Brian Molko is a bisexual.at least he claims to be one.
anyways,why don't you just cross me,cause i love gay people...Jesus!
see-i don't wanna feel bad about something i like.i mean,i don't care if it's wrong or right,i just like gay people.why everyone's got a problem with that,i mean,am i making someone feel bad from it?!
>>By Eli_Molko (Friday, 23 Jul 2004 10:30)
The way I see Joris reacting I don't think he is very happy with your blank and unfunded statement: "I love gay people" with out giving any explaination at all.
Then I don't think that you liking gay people can be compared to gays perefering the same sex. But before I get that in your head I will be 50. And then again most gays can explain quite well what they see in the ones they love. But here we go again, judging for others. You just can't tell why, so know one must be able to tell why. Good for you. Eli Moklo, I think you are shortsighted and rather biased. But don't worry, everyone discriminates, and noone sees the whole picture. Some just see very little of it.
>>By Campking (Friday, 23 Jul 2004 12:36)
Please don't speak for me.
But yes, it hurts me. Less then all the bullshit other people throw at you because they are affraid of/hate gays, but I think it is very simple and demeaning to love someone just because he has a certain sexual preference. And I hate to be put in a group just because of what I am, not who I am. So yes it hurts. It is nice to be loved for who you are, but not for what you are (is nice to, but these people don't lnow you).
And this was my last word. Let's give this board back to Franz Ferdinand, whose singer is probably not gay.
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Friday, 23 Jul 2004 12:44)
right...Franz Ferdinand rock, and it really doesn't matter if the vocalist is gay or not...
>>By Eli_Molko (Friday, 23 Jul 2004 13:43)
oh,and,Joris...". It is nice to be loved for who you are, but not for what you are (is nice to, but these people don't lnow you)." - yeah,i know,i mean,i totally get that-i am not retarded as probably you think i am-of course that the person matters for me,not the sexual orientation-i just wanted to say that i have a thing for gay people as a whole.
>>By Eli_Molko (Friday, 23 Jul 2004 23:42)
FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!! Why in the name of God are all of you still talking about this??? This discussion is supposed to be about Franz Ferdinand!!!!!
>>By Till63 (Sunday, 25 Jul 2004 02:22)
blah blah!!!! enuff about this gay stuff, lets talk about the band... they rock!!! for one, and for two well they have this sort of hypnotizing funk in their music, its weird and unheard of but somehow it works....i think that a president of the Philippines was named Franz Ferdinand, i think thats where they got the name, but im not sure....but i love theyre song Jaqueline and take me out of course...^_______^
>>By Box Trapped (Friday, 30 Jul 2004 04:24)
uhm,nope...Franz Ferdinand was the Archduke of Austria, and World War 1 started because of his assasination.
>>By Eli_Molko (Friday, 30 Jul 2004 15:17)
guess you are american oversseing such important person in history?
Anyway I do like the music, but it is not unheard of, in the eighties there were two bands who were already doing this, but FF claims to have never heard them, which to me sounds possible, but not very likely.
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Thursday, 5 Aug 2004 00:18)
well,it's not very likely, but it's likely, right?they may never heard of the bands!i guess we'll never know.and it doesn't even matter.cause the music is good,no matter if it's not unheard of!
>>By Eli_Molko (Wednesday, 11 Aug 2004 04:34)
The music is good indeed, but not knowing the Talking Heads or XTC sounds kinda weird to me, but then can be my age.
>>By Joris Spikkelaar (Wednesday, 11 Aug 2004 12:48)
