I am truly ashamed they are from Texas. They aren't smart enough to keep their mouths shut.

I do support their right to say what they feel, but I have the right not to support them. I will never buy one of their CD's again.

>>By LubbockTX   (Friday, 14 Mar 2003 01:22)

They have disgraced themselves on foreign soil. Revoke their passports now. They can live in France.

>>By elvis   (Friday, 14 Mar 2003 04:40)

I am sickened by the comments and by the false apology. Natalie knew exactly what she was saying when she said it. If she is really sorry, lets see some serious repayment - like giving a speech supporting President Bush before every concert. Like she would ever do that! Freedom includes freedom of speech, but it also means the rest of us have the freedom to boycott, disagree with and be sickened by these traitors.

I hope you all have long memories. I do.

>>By American   (Saturday, 15 Mar 2003 04:37)

I am also ashamed they are from Texas. It didnt take Natalie much time to change from the first statement (http://dixiechicks.launch.yahoo.com/news.asp?id=24), to what was said today (http://dixiechicks.launch.yahoo.com/news.asp?id=26), looks like a complete 180. The Dispy Chicks are about to find out that their fans (now ex-fans) from the USA and Texas have a different view than they have. As for me and everyone I know not another $ will ever be spent on the Dipsy Chicks again. If they are that ashamed maybe they should tell people they are from France, Germany, Russia, China, or North Korea.

This is not Maines' first foray into political comment. Last year, when country singer Toby Keith wrote his pro-America song Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue, Maines called it "ignorant" and said the tough-talking song "makes country music sound ignorant."

>>By disappointedfan   (Saturday, 15 Mar 2003 18:41)

I think this is a lesson the Dixie Chicks need to learn (although I'm sure it's much too 'deep' for them to understand):

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself" -- John Stuart Mill

To all ex-fans that are speaking out - THANK YOU!!

>>By A lesson   (Saturday, 15 Mar 2003 21:37)

I grew up listening to the music of the Maines Brothers in West Texas. Natalie, you know better!

>>By bs   (Sunday, 16 Mar 2003 06:45)

Grew up on music by the Maines Brothers. Natalie, has lost contact with her roots. WIth fame comes responsibility, a very hard lesson they are about to learn. My family is done with the Chicks!

>>By Idalou Texas   (Sunday, 16 Mar 2003 06:49)

I honestly hate them with my whole heart, never again will i buy one of their cd's.Who do they think they are...God? They are just a bunch of stupid blondes who know NOTHING. Natile is just trying to save her ass by apologizing.

>>By katie   (Sunday, 16 Mar 2003 19:46)

These girls are nothing new or unique. They are members of the growing ranks of the Hollywood elite that consider themselves smarter, better and more enlightened than us poor white trash that "DON'T KNOW NO BETTER". The Dixie Chicks are uninformed idealist that have the luxury to question their President on foreign soil as others prepare to fight bravely on foreign soil...IRONY? We should boycott them for their statements and be we should boycott the rest of the Hollywood elite that think we are sheep that will keep lining their pockets with cash.

>>By RANGER   (Sunday, 16 Mar 2003 23:16)

Sorry if I hurt your feelings Nancy, but freedom of speech does not guarantee anyone will pay attention.

>>By RANGER   (Sunday, 16 Mar 2003 23:30)

I thought her "daddy" played in the band. I blame her comments, and her attitude, on HIM! He surely didn't raise her right. If that had been my daughter, I would have put her over my knee and "educated" real HARD!

>>By DE4NRA   (Monday, 17 Mar 2003 02:05)

Freedom of speech is one thing, playing "Bagdag Jane" is another.
I have trashed all of our Dixie Bitch CDs, and burned the concert tickets to the show in Birmingham. Natalie, you can go to hell.

>>By Navy Veteran   (Monday, 17 Mar 2003 02:54)

She's the big one True American.....the cross eyed one plays some sort of instrument.......and not necessarily musical.

How sad it is when a popular group such as these get out of touch with who their fans really are. They shot themselves in the feet and will pay for it. Sure, she spoke her mind. But the group will have to suffer the consequences.

I don't even listen to country music but I am proud of their fans sticking up for what they felt was wrong! This is a stronger message than anything one of them can say to rectify the situation.

>>By music fan   (Tuesday, 18 Mar 2003 07:43)

Vote w/ your pocketbooks and your feet ... boycott ALL things related to the Dixie Chicks ... do you really think that "apology" wasn't wriiten by an executive w/ their record label? ... sales are in the basement and will stay there, I'll bet ... freedom of speech is wonderful, but to criticize your country and its leaders on foreign soil and then not expect it to be reported back home is the height of arrogance ... which probably is a result of spending so much time in Europe in the first place ... do we want a nuclear 9-11 ... I think not ... it's time to bomb Sadaam, and time to stop supporting these fools

>>By markomur23   (Tuesday, 18 Mar 2003 21:09)

The Dixie Chicks say they don't beleive in violence of any kind, yet they write a song titled "EARL'S GOTTA DIE"

>>By Randy   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 09:28)

Sales on the latest Dixie Chicks' CD is down 40% - OUCH.

These little commies better learn how to wait tables.,

>>By I love the USA   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 09:31)

People all over are sending back in their Dixie Chicks concert tickets, asking for refunds. The Dixie Chicks are history.

>>By Uncle Sam   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 09:35)

Go Dixie Chicks. Down with King George II, the ultimate example of affirmative action for the rich. (Sure, this half-wit loser would have gotten into a top-rate college without daddy opening the door.) Har. "Guess I'll start a war to shift focus from the faltering economy. Just like daddy did." But remember, Little George, Daddy's war ended too soon, and when the elections rolled around, it was still about the economy, stupid.

Think I'll go out and buy another Dixie Chicks CD ....

>>By madcap   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 18:12)

Love the bozos who are arguing the Dixie Chicks should be banned from the US because they dared to speak their mind. Guess that's the kind of country the rightwing is gunning for. Dissent and be banned. Dissent and be shouted down. If you want to boycott their music because of what they said, more power to you. But when you start demanding that they be banned from the U.S., you're showing your true colors.

So much for Freedom Fries and Liberty for All.

>>By Freedom Figher   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 18:15)

madcap, George Bush Sr. freed the nation of Kuwait, you moron.

It's a free country, and I choose never to buy anything from the Dixie Chicks again.

>>By Uncle Abe   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 22:10)

Sorry, Natalie, but you have lost a fan forever with your comments. I agree with your absolute right to speak your mind, but I also believe that my freedom, thanks to soldiers who fought for it, gives me the right to say "no" to any future Dixie Chicks purchases. Never again will I buy a product produced by you and yours. I do not believe you are anti-American, as some suggest, I just believe your are amazingly stupid to do such a thing as to speak against our commander in chief on foreign soil! Unamerican? no. Stupid? YES.
Remember, it is the SOLDIER that makes it possible for all of us to express our thoughts without fear of governmental retribution... to quote from a commercial now running, " It's not the poet who guarantees feedom of speech, it's the soldier... Were it not for the brave, there would be no land of the free! " You, my dear uneducated child, have all but spit in the face of the soldiers that make this the land of the free. I understand your right to be this way, and hope YOU understand MY right to stop supporting you and your group The Dixie Chicks. You do NOT represent my values. Not today, and apparently, not ever. By the way, my SON is one of the soldiers you insulted with your comment. But he still fights freely for your right to be stupid!

>>By ken   (Monday, 7 Apr 2003 18:58)

I use to think very highly of the dixie chicks until they made the sad decission to go against every sane person in this country that loves the fact that they are American and able to choose their religion and have the freedom to make their own decisions. I think that all the protestors to the war including the commie Dixie Chicks need to be sent over to Iraq to live and see what it's really like to. We are fighting for our freedom and our rights to live in a free society. To: The Dixie Chicks, find a new lead singer and maybe we will start buying your new albums without Natalie as part of your group. Aren't you glad we have freedom of speech now CHICKIES.

>>By TT   (Monday, 7 Apr 2003 23:35)

I think you are all ignorant. You forget that the basis of our country is FREEDOM!!!!!!!! Freedom of speech and to state our opinion. She was just saying how she felt. You wouldn't disown your friend if he/she felt the same. Or would your friend be afraid to say how they feel because you are so ignorant and closed minded. If you like someones music or someones writing or any other genre would you stop listening or reading just because you don't have the same beliefs or feelings as them. It shouldn't matter who you are or what color you are or what religion you are or anything else for that matter. That's called discrimination. That means you're a Bigot, predjudice and ignorant. Life is about forgiving and being forgiven. I'm not saying I don't support the President. But I didn't vote for him. And what's with all the name calling. What? Are you 12 years old and trying to use all the new bad words you learned today in school. GROW UP AND LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD! Nobody likes war and everybody reacts differently.
I support our troops and I'm glad we kicked ass. My condolences go out to those who lost loved ones and to those who are still over there, Watch your back, and come home safe.
A mad Redheaded DixieChicks Fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>By PROUD   (Friday, 25 Apr 2003 04:50)

>>By popoh   (Friday, 25 Apr 2003 08:04)

Just watched the interview. I support freedom of speech and so I'd like to say that I find the "Chicks" ignorant and "proud" in that most un flattering way and I will continue to excercise my right and let everyone I know how I feel and also not support them in any way.

>>By bdog   (Friday, 25 Apr 2003 08:14)

Dixie Chicks your comments only go to show that you had no understanding of anything leading up to this war. I full y support our country in helping a country in the oppressed shape iraq was in and also in assuring us that they would not be doing anything in our back yard as well. I hope america does put you out of business however, in the future maybe you should learn all of the facts before making rash judgments on something and makeing a fool out of yourself by saying stupid comments that don't add up to anyone who knows the facts. If you don't like this country please get out and stay out but, never talk bad about your country while in another country. YOu couldn't have been any more disrespecful to our people if you had tried.

Tired of stupidity please disappear.

>>By True Texan   (Friday, 25 Apr 2003 08:56)

All I have to say to all of you, that are not behind there music YOU ARE NOT AND NEVER WHERE TRUE FANS!!!!!!!!!!

You cannot change your opinion about anyone just for the simple reason of freedom of speech saying how they feel. Yeah she doesnt like Bush and to her she is ashamed he is from Texas who cares it's her opinion if you dont agree that's why IT"S HER OPINION, IGNORANT humans making people feel bad for a comment made how can you call yourself's fans or supporters YOU are all just followers going with the media that made this such a big deal to me it's not because personally I did not vote for Bush I dont like he's values plus he never made it clear why we went to war with Saddam and not Vin laden all his speeches do not make sense to me because war has never been the answer and he forced the issue that we had to go to war. They have nuclear bombs well have they found any yet, NOOOOOOOO, and a little lab doesnt mean anything all they are doing is trying to find Saddam capture him what is that going to do if he has followers he can easily tell them what to do to cause damages to our home and where is all this terrible things he had that we are searching for it's just more clear we went to war for his father since he couldnt finish Saddam here comes Jr. trying to do it for him. I get so furious just thinking of him sending all those soldiers out there, the ones that have lost there lifes for worthless cause but does it matter to the big shot him and all the wealthy friends are not in any danger so who cares it's only a few that will die that have lost there lifes in this so called war right........ War is for Bush not for the American People and I am not againts our troops people in general take is so offensive when anyone talks about Bush but they dont comprehend that it's him we dont care about not our troops I have friends that are over there right now and I support them 120% but I dont and will never support our selfish president who did this to them for no reason.

Either way every one has there own choices and we are going to keep making them to me is not right to pin point at peoples opinion that's why it's an OPINIONNNNNNNNN

But ofcourse some people wont agree and it makes sense it's Texas Closed minded citizens dont understand the word "FREEDOMMMMMM"

Anyone can make a remark about a comment without putting someone down and making fun of the way they look.

I say GO Dixie Chicks never back out on your true feelings.

LIFE WILL GO ON and you still have your True FANS and supporters.
