Somebody should have told these dudes after the first Ramones album, "Hey, this is really great. Let's not ruin it by making the same one twice a year for the next 3 decades." I know this is a sore spot, seeing as how Joey recently passed away, but enough with this "Ramones started punk rock" bullshit. Why are New Yorkers always quick to claim the "originator" title? Anybody who keeps up this "Ramones started punk rock" crap needs to have a Stooges record dropped into their lap and shut the fuck up.

I dont care what anyone else says, no one can rock the leather pants and short shirts like the ramones, i swear if i was alive when they were kick ass id be one of their band mates! No one can rock like them theyer a completly diffrent catogory than any other band. The kick ass!

Back on my nicer side, I miss Joey! And, by the way, he was NOT sexy. A great person, a great singer, and a great personality, but definatly not sexy. Sorry. Now, Joe Strummer... Not pretty at all, but something about him made him sexy. I can't decide what. I guess that he was just so pasionate about what he sang. :-( I miss both of em! Ok. I'm gonna go cry now.

OLD TIME PUNK:
The Clash didn't invent punk rock. Sorry. I mean, they're my absolute favourite band (Ramones are second, only because The Clash experimented with other kinds of music) But Joe even says that the release of the Ramones' first album really influenced them (as well as most of the other well known Brit punk sceners) on West Way to the World. Here's how I see it:
The Ramones made punk what it is
The Clash did it the best
The Sex Pistols took all the credit.
I'm not saying the Ramones invented it. You can't just invent a type of music. It just kinda evolves. But the Ramones definded it. As for any Sex Pistols fans, don't get me wrong. I like them too. But they're given more credit than they deserve.

euhm, just wonder who first on the scene, and you might find that this is not even possible....
anyway, Ramones are more Garage punk, the Clash were one of the first to do a more reggea influenced pop punk thing and the sex pistols are highly overrated, and for me didn't stand the test of time (not saying they weren't good, but not that good....).
I am happy that I saw Joey Ramone live on his last European "solo" tour. It was great, to bad such a guy is now longer around.. To use a lame statement: "He rocked", and he really did....

I'm a Big fan of Johnny Thunders and The New York Dolls, CherryBombshell... but still I'd say it's VU who's to blame for punk, later on came the stooges, MC5, NY Dolls and dictators! also big sucker for television, richard hell,suicide and patti smith while talking about early punk! I think it was the pistols who started punk in the UK, not sure bout that!
The Ramones would still be one of my fav bands if they now started punk or not who cares!?
