The Mars Volta

actually "lzawwlgood" you should check out the story book to the story. i have a copy and it really opens the lyrics up and gives listeners a chance to unlock alot of the meaning. roulette dares is about the choice cerpin makes to continue his journey through the coma; to dive deeper into this new world he's found himself in. just a polite suggestion though...

I believe Mars Volta is a better band the ATDI, also based on my live experience with both. But then the live show I saw was the last in Europe, after a very tiring tour of ATDI and maybe even their last show before breaking up, so I am not sure if this show gives a good idea of what they were live. Anyway, they were energetic, but they didn't seem honest and fair to me, Mars Volta did have that power, the two times I saw them live......

Just as he hit the ground they lowered a tow that stuck in his neck to the gills fragments of sobriquets, riddle me this, three half eaten corneas who hit the area, stalk the ground, you should have seen the curse that flew right by you, page of concrete stain walks crutch in hobble sway autodafe, a capillary hint of red, only this manupod crescent in shape has escaped, the house half the way, fell empty with teeth that split both his lips mark these words, one day this chalk outline will circle this city, was he robbed of the asphalt that cushioned his face, the room colored charlitan hid in a safe, stalk the ground, you should have seen the curse that flew right by you, page of concrete, stain walks crutch in hobbled sway, autodafe a capillary hint of red, only this manupod crescent in shape has escaped, pull the pins save your grace mark these words on his grave, pull the pins, save your grace, mark these words on his grave, pull the pins, save your grace, mark these words on his ...you should have seen the curse that flew right by you page of concrete stain walks crutch in h hobbled sway autodafe a capillary hint of red, every one knows the last toes are always the coldest to go....

ahhhh man FRANCIS THE MUTE !!! such a wonderful album omar composed it all NO one knew what it would sound like until it all came together each instrument played its own tune, unknown to what the others were playing tick-tick-tick to the metronome ALL coming together to form................... this amazing album
ahhhh i wanna see them LIVE !! & not only because they play the doctor who theme tune at the end !!!

Eh, surely if Omar composed all of it, he must have known what it was all gonna sound like... or do you mean he tabbed it all for the rest of the band and they had to just record their parts and then they put them together? Aaanyway, 'tis indeed an awesome album, especially Plant a Nail in the Navel Stream!

Ooh, Tchock, you've heard Scab Dates? That's cool... Ee, you should also listen to Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Dassein! I think the guitar part is reminiscent of Omar to some extent

i mean that only omar knew what it was going to sound like............. its kinda obvious if you compose it you're kinda gonna know roughly how it sounds......

Surely Cedric didn't just sing it to the metronome..? I mean, presumably they did all the music and then he sung over the top of it? Eeeeeeeeveryone should know who Dassein are... check 'em out on www.myspace.com/dassein

TMV should not be allowed to play live. It's a distressing experience. Cedric seems to consistently fade, and Omar either turns the distortion levels to far up so that his beautiful riffs are ruined, or too low so that when they build to the crescendos of say, Roulette Dares, it just sounds thin and kind of tin can-ish.
Here's my list of top 10 bands I was most disappointed by upon seeing them live:
1. A Perfect Circle 2. Portishead 3. THE MARS VOLTA 4. Eels 5. The Prodigy 6. Deftones 7. Radiohead 8. Alice In Chains 9. From Autumn To Ashes 10. Deerhoof

Stinkfist, how big was the venue? They are meant to play live for small audiences only. And not outdoors, also.
Cedric's vocals can (and perhaps should) be ignored altogether. Music and noise is what The Mars Volta do better.

ahhhhhh man ANOTHER album out & so soon after francis the mute??? they're spoiling us !!!
ahhh man i won't ever get bored of francis the mute & deloused at the comatorium !! televators................... what a wonderful song
cedric's voice is amazing on Facilis Descenus Averni the way he almost screams it's even more impressive that he sung that to nothing but a metronome having no knowledge of what he was really singing along to....
love 'em :)
