I think that this band is awesome. There should many more bands like The Juliana Theory. I can't wait until January 19, 2003 to see them in Ventura.

one word...SWEEEETT!!! (Thursday, 27 Feb 2003 18:42)
Grossly egocentric soft rock with a headphone headset. This band is the polar opposite of rock n' roll. If there was ever a reason to carry firearms to shows, this would be it.

Musically, the stuff I've listened to is better than most bands of their type. If you ejoy "EMO", you will probably enjoy this band...
However, you can't really say that a band "ROCKS!!!!!!!" when the words to the chorus of one of their songs is "Sha-La-La-La" (...Top of the World). Sorry, but that's an automatic disqualification.

This band was something really great when they were in their prime. A lot of bands before and after them have done similar stuff, but these guys nailed the "emotional indie rock" thing pretty damn well. Their breakout from the emo tag record "Love" though, was something else entirely. They were able to meld melodic alternative rock with retro-flavored classic 70s rock, to totally breakaway from their previous image. Very seldom is a band successful with such a risk, but Love turned out to be their masterpiece. I'm pretty much a fan of anything these guys have done (barring their final album, which was uneven at best). Too bad they had to end on such a un-fulfilling note, but maybe they'll come back one day to regale the die-hard fans once more? One can only hope...
