I saw the movie Almost Famous the other day. It really affected me. It now ranks as one of my all time favorite films. The acting is superb. Great performances by Phillip Seymor Hoffman and Kate Hudson. I can relate to many of the characters. It makes me want to run away and join up with a band. I kind of see myself as the young journalist kid, yet i am still living in my mothers-made hell and haven't escaped as he did, i have yet to leave and find myself- I must join up with life and LIVE.It made me sick to find out that stillwater was just a made up band. The dream was a fake!!! Now here I sit all alone in the REAL WORLD, as Penny Lane would say. The story of Stillwater is the stuff dreams are made of! I guess I'll just have to keep dreaming.

I WAS in the band STILLWATER in the seventies. We were called STILLWATER JUNCTION, but eventually were referred to as STILLWATER. We recordered in the seventies in Atlanta and Macon and lived our lives much the same as the movie, travelling across the states and perpetually playing and partying with friends like The Atlanta Rythmn Section. Cameron had it down right, but the movie had references to LED ZEPPELIN, with statements like " I was a golden GOD ". I played lead guitar. Thanks to all of you!

If you would like, you can listen to a bit of my first solo c.d., "SECOND CHANCE". It debuted at #2 on Billboard Magazine's chart. Hope you like it. Please go to www.searam.com.
Thanks,

Malibu -

Here ya go...

While browsing through a pawn shop / I saw this old guitar / Its keys were bent and rusted / Its body scratched and scarred / Holy Moses, Would you believe that guitar began to talk? / (Spoken softly) I swear it did / Now It sounded like a beacon / I wasn't stoned or drinkin' / When I heard that talking guitar say... / My Daddy was a Gibson / My Mama was a Fender / That's why they call me... / Mindbender... / Mindbender... That's what they call me / You better believe it / it was a mind bending thing / I said now listen guitar / what you trying to do? / People will think I'm crazy / if they see me talkin to you / He said / What's that you say? / I said you better hold your tongue / Now it sounded like a beacon / I wasn't stoned or drinkin' / I swear I heard that guitar say / My Mama was a Fender / That's why they call me... / Mindbender... / Mindbender... That's what they call me / You better believe it brother / it was a mind bending thing

here are the lyrics for hold me closer
blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band/pretty eyes, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man/ballerina, you must have seen her, dancing in the sand/and now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand/jesus freaks out in the street/handing tickets out for god/turning back she just laughs/the boulevard is not that bad/piano man, he makes his stand/in the audotorium/looking on, she sings the songs/the words she knows, the tune she hums/but oh how how it feels so real/lying here with no one near/only you and you cant hear me/when i say softly, slowly/hold me closer tiny dancer/count the headlights on the highway/lay me down in sheets of linen/you've had a busy day today.
then it repeats the 1st verse and the chorus again
this song is originally an elton john song which is probably the reason you couldnt find the lyrics.
btw... i love it too

I have just recently come to the end of my five year search to discover who did the song Mindbender. The second phase of my search includes finding a copy of Stillwater's debut CD. Does this even exist, or is it only avalible on vinyl? Please email me at war_machine09@yahoo.com if you can help me!

Hello everyone, I would like some feedback if you would care to respond. The lead singer of Stillwater's son and I are looking to start a website for the group and are curious in what you would like for us to put on it. Any feedback would benefit us greatly in getting this site started. Contact me if you would like at StuantonCoach@aol.com.

Hello everyone, I would love to know where I can purchase Stillwater's lp's on CD and of course their latest 'Running Free'. I know I am speaking to the converted but Stillwater were amazing and more should be done to promote this great band and the legacy of those first two lp's. Why the beatles go back to the early '60's and people are still raving (rightly so) about them.

Let's remind people of this band, anyone with any suggestions please contact me.

PS:- Where can we fans purchase the music on CD format? Anyone

Feel free to email me:- mbyrne@tesco.net
Thanks

I'm a fan of the two main Stillwater's and I also really like Stillwaters. There's a lot of confusion surrounding the band and if it is real. Getting there stuff of p2p networks I discovered that there are five unique artists misrepresented as Stillwater. I created a page with information on those five artists, hope you find it useful.

http://the-page.info/music/stillwater/

I see that some people here want lyrics to Stillwater songs, I'll add them sometime in the near future. I found the real artist's by searching for their lyrics, they were difficult to find so if I add them to the site, people will find my page by searching for the lyrics.

I'm posting the URL again in hope that it will be hyperlinked, so it will appear on Google and people can find the page more easily.

i don't think they do links over here :(
But the old copypast does the trick ....

>>By pivo   (Wednesday, 8 Dec 2004 13:35)

Well it's been a while and I've gotten a lot of emails from people asking if I ever found the song. I did find the album and I too have the song availible in mp3 format for anyone who wants it. I don't believe in file sharing, but I also don't believe that good music should be so hard to find, therefore I would be happy to share "Mindbender" with anyone who want's it.
