i dont know if this is really working b/c i'm not a huge sister hazel fan but have just recently discovered the song "running through the fields (for jeffery)" does anyone know the story behind the song? like who it's for and so on? it's really a beautiful song

Hi Lisa, Running Through the Fields was a song written by lead singer Ken Block for his brother Jeffery. He suffered from Cancer and died when Ken was in his twenties. The song means so much to Ken that he rarely plays this song live. I had the pleasure of attending the University of Florida with Ken. He is truely one of the most genuine people I have ever met.

Thanks alot Jon. Everytime I hear it, it touches me again. It's almost like hearing it for the first time all over again. Good to hear, though, that they are the down to earth type...it'd be hard for me to believe that they weren't. I now consider myself a fan. Been listening to them more lately. They have some really great stuff. Any suggestions on favorites?? Thanks so much. Have a good day.

Definitely pick up the new Sister Hazel Chasing Daylight which was just released this month. It is truly a masterpiece of fine music as are all of their albums. Also check out Sisterhazel.com for tour dates. This is one band YOU DO NOT want to miss live!

Hi folks!

Well, I'm a French fan of Sister Hazel. The problem is that it is impossible to find even one of their album in France, so I have to try to find some of their wonderful songs on the internet. I think I have all of them except "One Love" and "Feel it". Would anyone be nice enough to tell me how to find these two songs in mp3 or even .wav? Please help me, I cannot live without these two songs. You are my last hope... my email is muad_dib11@hotmail.com.

Be strong and keep on going that way.

Ben-- check out pressplay.com (you have to pay to download songs, but it might be worth it unless you use can get an album from amazon.com) I know they have an mp3 of "Feel It." I haven't seen One Love on the list yet, but I'm sure it will be there soon. Kazaa.com might also have both songs. (And check ebay.com, they have great auctions on sister hazel stuff, too!). It's so cool that Sister Hazel has fans all over the world! I'm addicted to their music--can't stop listening to them!

Just wanted to say what a great band this is. These guys are not only very talented but probably the nicest people you will ever meet. My best friend and I drove from Florida to South Carolina for a St. Patty's day parade that they were supposed to play in on our spring break a few weeks ago. Because our luck sucks it started raining so all of the bands pulled out. As my friend and I were walking around the block we spotted Ken and approached him telling him that we just really wanted to hear them all play. He had us hang out with them most of the day and promised that they'd try their best to play for all of us. Sure enough they scheduled an acoustic concert in the back of a club and about a hundred people or so stood in the pouring rain at 45 degree weather just to listen to them play. They couldn't bust out the drums so Mark pulled out some buckets and just jammed on his little buckets. I truly must say that these guys will do almost anything for their fans and for that I'm pretty proud to be a hazelnut!

I have been a huge Sister Hazel fan for a while now, but since attending my first Sister Hazel concert this weekend, I am totally sold as a Hazelnut! They were energetic, real, honest, and extremely entertaining. They were suppose to leave right after the concert to get back down to Florida of some seriously deserved time with their families, but instead they stayed for the fans! I got to talk to Ken and he honestly was about as down to earth as my guy friends who fiddle on their guitars in the garage! I want to scream from the rooftop and tell everyone in the world just how talented and great these guys are! In this age of pop princesses and pointless rap songs, Sister Hazel provides a much needed musical relief!

I'm a big fan of Sister Hazel. As everyone has said, they really are awesome guys. I was just wondering if they were Christians or if they have any other religious backgrounds. Could anyone tell me? Thanks.

Hey guys, just a little plug for a Pre-release of Sister Hazel's new CD "Lift"...If you go to this site (www.moon-shadow.com/SisterHazel/PrivateCollection) you can pre-order the CD and get nifty free stuff (such as a poster which you CANNOT and will NEVER be able to buy). Also, Drew Copeland is simultaneously releasing a side-project CD called "No Regrets" (both discs hit the shelves Aug 24th), and if you pre-order then he will personally autograph your CD. Now how does it get any better than that?? Keep your ears open for their new single "Just what I needed" playing on a radio station near you!

Hey guys...hope you all picked up 'Lift' and 'No Regrets' this week! Its an amazing album. This board looks pretty inactive for the most part, so I wanted to make sure all of you knew about the Official Sister Hazel Board, which can be found at allthings.sisterhazel.com. There are lots of us Hazelnuts hanging around there ALL the time. We're a very close group! If you're looking for someone to hook up with at a show, or just to hang around with, join the board! :)

Have a great day!

Truly an amazing band. They are from my home town here in Gainesville, FL and it is so cool to know a band that's that amazing is from here. I've loved them since my bro brought home the original recordings of their first cd and Somewhere More Familiar home from the concerts he would go to in town when they were first starting. I listened to them all the time with him and have been a huge fan. And too the person who asked about Rock Boat 03 I went on it and it was amazing. My fav songs are Surrender (from Lift), Give In (from Fortress) and We'll Find It (from Somewhere More Familiar). It was super cool my junior year in high school my high school chorus got to perform with Ken and Andrew when Ken did Runnign Through The Fields for a cancer event here in town. It was so cool to perform with them and had them sign my CDs and strummed Ken's guitar too.
