Picked up a Preston Love CD, Omaha Bar-B-Q, Shuggie and Johnnie Otis are on it with Clifford Soloman on Tenor, very nice stuff, circa 1969. Shuggie tears it up on a fine record. Check it out, original was on Kent Records, #kst540

i hope you all realize the reason sly's 'there's a riot goin on' sounds so much like 'information inspiration' is because sly was trying to get a clue while recording 'riot' shuggie was in the stuido next door, sly wanders in , picks up some stuff from shuggie goes back does 'riot', epic sits on 'information' not wanting to mess up their relationship with sly, or cause any undue competition in the market place...thus a 1874 release for shuggie, just after they drop him from the label.

Shuggie is an awesome artist. His musicianship is remarkable as well as his writing. I'm not so sure about the singing, however. I agree that Shuggie and Sly have very similar sounds. His work is featured on both Beyonce''s and Monica's new cd's! I've read that his health is failing but I would love to see him perform "Rainy Day" with Beyonce'.
Beyonce did a beautiful job penning lyrics to an already beautiful song.
