I happened to catch a Shai Hulud show in Kansas...They were amazing!
Not only are they great musicians...but I got a chance to talk to them afterwards, they're great people as well.

The band is amazing, BUT the singer need not be so angry. He seems to hold a bit of a grudge against God which is a big no no.

Who cares if he holds a grudge agaisnt god... He can say and feel as he wants:\

As redundant,over-crowded, and blantanly boring as "Heavy" music has become,it is refreshing to witness the music of a band like SHAI HULUD. In a little over half-a-decade this entity has become a staple in the aesthetic diet of many a fan/connieseur(sp?)of heavy/aggresive minded music. As instrumental(no pun intended) as it has become to employ music-arguably the most expressive artistic medium-as a channel in which to "positively" re-route anger, there seems to be simply too much visual uniform and rigid aural template on the market...Names I will refrain from disclosing.
The title:"A Profound Hatred of Man" spells out SHAI HULUD's concept brilliantly and does so with a slight Freudian slant: Face and learn to deliver yourself from the vices/evil within yourself-which were not necessarily brought on by yourself.
Sound confusing? Read the lyrics to "Two and Twenty Stones" from the new album.
More on this later!

a) Shai Hulud is the name given to the giant sand worms in Dune when the people were worshipping them.
b) who give a fuck if it's metal/punk/whatever? Music is music no matter what you label it. It's music with punk and metal influence.
c) They're an incredible band. Great charisma on stage, intense recordings, and really nice people.
and beeks... i think you're definately not metal.
