Les Claypool is a musical genius, his lead bass is the most godly sound ever and his voice and lyrics are so kick ass, i dont care what anyone says. In a generation of mainstream music where originality is frowned upon, Primus thinks outside the box... all I can say is PRIMUS IS THE SHIT

I like Primus' oddness and intelectual, different music. Many say primus is a horrible. But the legacy will continue and Primus will always rock!

PRIMUS as a musical entity and as individuals are and should be an inspiration to the future musicians of America. Their tireless efforts have proven that individuality will always remain a goal for all musicians to attain. I salute you cheessy bastards.

Les is the man. Hes so creative and his voice combined with his mond-boggeling talent at bass (not to mention he was to good for Metallica). Every album is awesome, and the cover art on each one is fantastic. Fish On.

I hope Les can get the guys back together. The world needs more Primus...

How could anyone think Primus is horrible. For me, primus is a musicians band, especially the Brown Album. I could give a shit about his singing. For me the music does it for me. Ultra funky experimental country polka rock. That about sums it up. Primus...R.I.P.

primus is better than ever. saw them night before last in las vegas with the original line up. tim alexander is an awesome drummer. although brain was good, tim is more creative and technically proficient. band played 2 whole sets, one a mixture of great tunes from past albums, a lot of them songs not heard of in quite a while because of the technical drumming. second set was the entire "seas of cheese" record, which were all new and improved versions. les is the most creative bass player as well as technical and ler is better than ever.

I as well saw them about three days ago in Vancouver. it was simply amazing. from the audience interaction to the 20 minute tim alexander solo in the middle of Sgt. Baker, i was blown away. improv bass solo in my name is mud, les was just milkin' the crowd for everything he could, and we couldn't stop jumping. great light show and screen presentation as well. ONE STRING BASS SOLO WITH DRUM STICKS FOR THE LOVE OF CHEESE. i saw the chilly peppers the night befor and it was NOTHING compaired to primus. truly some of the best musical talent around. PRIMUS SUCKS!!

Primus suck so bad, I think i'm gonna go back to drinking milk in a baby bottle. Then I'm going to fill empty my swiming pool but leave a little water in, and breed some frogs, and i'm going to grow onions on the flat roof of my house. I'm going to get me an Ally Cat too, some pots to fry things with, get a pig or two and voila, everyone who knows the band will know I'm a fan. Hahaha.
Alright folks, lets get serious. I love primus, but here are some other recommendations for other bassists to check out for all you bass fans. Most people would know Flea from the RHCP and Les Claypool, but there are more bassists, and possibly technically more accomplished ones that I think you should know about.
Victor Wooten, Bill Dickens, Gary Willis, Ray Riendeau, Alain Caron, Michael Manring, Marcus Miller, Stanely Clarke, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Billy Sheehan, among many others. [can't think]. Also check Spiral Architect's bassist.
For Drummers [I haven't explored them too well yet], I would recommend listening to Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, Dennis Chambers (several projects with Fusion bands), Australian Planet X drummer Virgil Donati, and Watchtower drummer Rick Colaluca.
If you want a list of good guitarists, check out my post on the Steve Vai site. Look for my name on the second page:

Finished viewing Primus' Live Set at the Vergoose Music Festival in Las Vegas. An excellent, nearly two hour set by Primus. I often wonder if Les Claypool is the lead vocalist for the Residents. Is that possible?
>>By headrush77 (Sunday, 30 Oct 2005 07:34)
Since Les Claypool was born in 1963, then he can not be the lead singer for the Residents.
>>By headrush77 (Sunday, 30 Oct 2005 07:40)
primus sucks. :)
ahhh. the way he talks with his bass. such human tones coming out of his instruments. whacky. saw them in west virginia. twas incredible. he takes quirky to a whole new level. creeper twang. i did read that he auditioned for metallica growing up, and that they told him he'd look like a weirdo trying to fit in, to go do his own thing. thought that was neat. so from early early on he had his own style. i wonder what his influences were? surely not ONLY music..
