I love Phoebe - pulled out Second Childhood the other day and I can't stop listening to it. It is just as beautiful and fresh as the day she recorded it. Norah Jones owes a lot to Phoebe!

That wasn't Phoebe Snow, that was Minnie Riperton. She was also a beautiful songstress, unfortunately lost her battle with cancer several years later. (Saturday, 15 Feb 2003 12:23)

I have always loved Phobe Snow. All of her music including her jingles on tv make me want to sing loud and clear.

I wish she would consider going on tour again. I'm in the Washington D.C. area and even if she came to NY, I'd be the first one there to see her. I've raised my 13 year old daughter on Phobe Snow as well and she is a fan also.

Please Phobe resurface one more time.

i have loved phoebe snow since hearing her first album, which i bought on 8 track! to this day the music is engaging, intelligently written and arranged and original. the two-note teen soubrettes everyone is listening to lately could learn a thing or three from this amazing singer about nuance, sensitivity and style. her last concert in my area was a blow-out sellout. please tour in st louis again!!

I have been a phoebe fan for the last 30 years. I too wish that she would go back on tour. I live in the Washington, DC area and the last time I saw her was in '76. I need another dose.

Every since I first heard poetry man when I was a young kid I felt as if Phoebe Snow has was of the most beautifulest ,calming/almost theraputic voices that I have ever heard . I mostly listen to hip hop in underground form with jazz tones and more of an organic no nonsence type of rap also revolving around spokenword poetry/ i.e. Roy Hargroves new CD "The RH factor" so when I pull out some Phoebe Snow on my friends it blows there minds away . Thank you Phoebe also for taking the time to create the new album "natural wonder".

Singer/Songwriter Phoebe Snow will release her first original CD, “Natural Wonder” in 14 years on June 17, 2003. The album contains nine self- and co-written tracks. Released through Eagle Records, Snow calls Natural Wonder her “most personal” project to date.

Since her critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album in 1974, Snow has been recognized as one of the most distinctive and nuanced voices in music. Now, she enters a whole new arena with Natural Wonder, for the first time bringing her remarkable skill, precision and power to its widest audience.

The arrangements and vocals of Natural Wonder are unlike any other studio recording she’s ever done, while her lyrics – personal and uncompromising – demonstrate a new found freedom for her as an artist and as a person.

With themes ranging from fear of intimacy in “How Beautiful” to youthful risk-taking in “Changed” to spiritual reflection in “Sahara” to the deeply personal “Lightning Strikes,” Snow says this CD is the one she’s always wanted to make. Reflects Snow:

“It’s sometimes hard for people to see artists as more than one thing. In my case, because of my early success with “Poetry Man,” I was, and, to a large extent, still am, seen as a folk singer. The recognition is, of course, flattering but the expectations are sometimes a little frustrating. No creative person should ever be made to produce the same thing over and over. A person has to grow, take risks.”

Says Mike Carden, President of Eagle Records, “Last year I happened to catch a show of Phoebe’s, and was blown away. She knocked my socks off. So when the chance came up for us to work together, I wanted to give her the opportunity to make the album that reflected her current self; to help close the gap between her studio work and her electrifying live performances.”

Phoebe cites the stylistic influences and arrangements of Natural Wonder as classic and close to her heart. “I love so many kinds of music – totally across the board from Mahalia Jackson and Louis Armstrong to Nirvana and the Foo Fighters. But I knew with this CD that I wanted to keep in mind the central people who changed my life and my music.” From British rock legends (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) to their American counterparts (Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin), Snow pays homage to genius after genius, all the while keeping a style, freshness and integrity all her own.

Producer Jim Chapdelaine agrees, “Phoebe is one of those incredible talents that make you remember what making music is all about. What we wanted with Natural Wonder is to make a straightforward, honest recording. No tricks, nothing gimmicky or trendy, little, if any, compression or reverb. Fresh, dry with Phoebe singing her heart out.”
