I found this website looking for the lyrics, since this song has such a captivating beat, but I can't make out the words very well. Imagine my surprise, and frankly some disappointment, finding the lurid lyrics she chose. Clearly the woman has talent, and I certainly can't speak to the rest of her songs, as I am that unfamiliar with her work, but one wonders why she chose to limit herself to such a small audience. With her abilities, she could speak to a much larger section of the population than just you people. Really, your grasp and usage of the language is dismal, and if you are representative of Miss E's fans, you shame her. It's why you will continue to work at sorrowful little jobs in order to afford her albums, and will never aspire to heights yourself. Don't bother raging at me in your ridiculous low lingo, I will not be returning to this site to feel your "wrath". My advice- read a book. Try a dictionary, you slavering jackanapes! Keep it up, Miss E! But bring it out of the gutter and do honor to your people!

to "common sense" specifically: i don't dispute that she can write what she wants, but i don't believe a record company should release it. how would we feel if some white group came out with a song with racist remarks towards black people? would we black folk stand for it? no. we would protest. and all i'm saying is, when you look at songs like "work it" and "pussycat" from the cd it's disgusting. thing is, parents should not let their kids listen to it...but kids are listening to it. and the thing is, these songs degrade people. there are plenty of things that are censored from tv, radio, and record stores. they don't even allow cigarettes to be advertised on tv... yet it's ok for an album like this (missy's) to be in the hands of our kids? it makes no sense.

you say there are things we can't change, well, it maybe true, but we have a right to express our opinion. i don't like the songs or the cd...but the sad part, which makes me speak out, is i could...like i said before she is so extremely talented and could be such a great role model for young black women, but what does she do...waste that talent on trash! it just makes me mad that so many of our people who make the big time use their influence for degradation, dig?

Well, I just came on here to see what was up with the Work It song, and the backwards stuff. I read some responses and figured it out pretty quickly. I saw someone asking about the whole "If you gotta big (elephant noise) let me search it" That person thought it was big a**. Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott is a really talented artist (just look at all the Grammy wins). The song "Gossip Folks" she says "is a way to get back at all those people who are gossiping about who shes sleeping wiht or how she lost all the weight in a funny way". So don't be all mad at the swearing. And when she talks about sexual terms ("One Minute Man", "Work It", and "P***ycat") on her records don't be mad... she is just representing the ladies and sex is not a topic we should sweap under the rug, and guys are always talking about how they are gonna wear girls out on records. So just lay off. She isn't all that bad. Her songs are really good.

I Personally like Missy and for those of you who are looking for progressionist poetry in Missy's albums, all i can say is good luck to you. Missy has never aspired to be Shakespeare, she simply wants you to have a good time at the club! And why do you have to be so nasty, all these @#$% yous and B*&$%@# , is it really necessary. I understand that missy is trying to get you hype in the club and everything but every aspect of her music is weak..I have to comment cuz I hear it everywhere so dont say ..DONT LISTEN TO IT THEN. One beat is alright.. and the only reason why it sounds good cuz she bit it from Method Mans first album..the song on his album is called Bring the Pain... Weak Weak Weak... Mainstream Hip Hop is filled with ignorance and glamour.. You jiggy f*@ks out there got no clue about real hip hop.. bling bling shit is weak ... I bet you dumba$$es cant even tell me what the 4 elements of hip hop is.. go ahead and look it up and come at me with "your jealous and you aint got sh*t"... but thats the only way you can come back cuz your debating skills suck...well so do mine at times... also Hip Hop music is not all about the money so dont throw that sh*t at me.
