Of course I like that style of music it's not about that, it's just that they don't have so good melodies that you can recall, altough MM and NIN are using the same effects.

Well NIN and Manson don't do anything like the same style of music. Well they cross over sometimes but it's not the same sound.

That's all to do with the fact that Manson is a more forward frontman than Reznor, whereas Reznor can successfully convey an amazing aggressive feeling without actually being aggressive like Manson is

Apparently he asked for Be My Wife by David Bowie to be played at the wedding but the dj didn't have it so Manson sent him out to get a copy.
In my mind the chain of excellence goes:
Manson at the bottom
Trent halfway up
Bowie on top wearing spandex and a crown.

you got the chain of excellence dead on there, while im not much of a bowie fan i still respect that without him trent and mansons music wouldnt be as it is now and he is a very talented man granted,
Even though i like trent alot better than bowie (mainly because i got into nin before i had heard that much bowie stuff) i think bowie still deserves to be at top for that reason.
Manson deserves to be at the bottom though no questions asked, his music is great and he has certainly come along way since his first releases (which im not saying were bad at all i liked them but the music has grown with manson and seems to be alot more organised). Its his personality that gets me down, unlike bowie and trent manson doesnt have a personality you can respect, some of the things hes said and done such as to trent and to his own band members was bang out of order, you dont disrespect people the way he did.

The way you've put it makes it look like you're including the rest of humanity as well, making Manson the worst person on Earth, Bowie the best and Trent the median... anyway, if you admire Bowie so much for his influence on music such as NIN and Marilyn Manson (although he's had a huge influence on a lot of other artists too of course), check out Scott Walker, who influenced Bowie

Yes I meant out of those three.
I might just do that, although for me Bowie is the artist whose music I like most out of those three, as well as being the one who influenced the other two. Whether I like Scott Walker will depend on his music, not on his influence on Bowie, otherwise I would then feel obligated to listen to Scott Walker's inspiration and decide that was even better, and on and on through history until I was listening to the first piece of music ever recorded and deciding it was the best thing I had ever heard.
I don't know if I've said this already, but Manson's music, although I like it, always seems to be missing something that NIN has in abundance.

nin music has a natural emotion to it... its like you can feel the feelings through the music... whereas with manson he seems to have to be aggressive about it to put that kind of thing across... its not as natural as it is with NIN.

Flagg: many artists are inspired by live acts (this broadly includes traditional stuff that's been performed for hundreds of years but not recorded coz they didn't have the technology) - the history of recorded music differs hugely from the history of music in general, so to listen to the oldest ever recordings would give you a distorted view of an artist's inspirations, and anyway, an artist rarely has only one influence which is how they manage to be unique...
Yeah anyway, I didn't mean to suggest that Scott Walker was better than Bowie - just that any Bowie fans might be interested to hear what influenced him

i saw manson at download.. i was dissapointed to say the least.. was probably one of the worst bands i watch that entire weekend, quite alot of people left during his set too, it really wasnt that good, i think mansons had his time now, the new song heart shaped glasses is good though i do like that song but unfortunately he just did an awful job of performing anything at download.
