Hi there

Have really enjoyed this site, thanks.

many years ago i remember seeing and recording on video (from the tv), LS doing Freebird and I believe it was recorded at Knebworth (UK). Someone over the years has either nicked the tape or I have recorded over it - surely not the latter!

I was hoping if you can point me in the right direction for getting hold of that and/or the whole concert. I've tried going to a download site and have a got a version that has an opening title of "Billy Graham Presents
'A Day On The Green'
Oakland, California
July 4, 1977"

Altho this is a quality bit of footage the Knebworth one was a lot better (i think).

Anyway, ahve you guys got any idea where i go?

Thanks again

Bob (London)

I have always loved Lynard Skynard! It bothers me to see all these teenie-boppers going around and talking bad about bands from that decade, not knowing what the bands are really about. How can anyone have anything bad to say about a band/group they don't even know anything about? The song Freebird has helped me get through the break up with my boy friend, I'm not sure why, but I guess he needed to be free and live his own life and so do I. I can't explain how a song can help ease your pain, but that's what happened in the case with me. I don't like any of this "new" generations music, even though I'm part of it (I'm only 18).

Lynard Skynard is the band that comes to my mind when i think of one of the best friends i have ever had. Foster was a part of my soul when he got torn out of my life not long ago. He was like a teacher of life to me. taught me what was "right" to do in life. and how to have a good judgement on people. One band he made me listen to was Skynarnd and that is like the theme on our short time together. Our favorite was Simple Man.

I think lynyrd skynyrd is a great rock group and (if somebody is reading this don't freak out because I don't have much to say, it's just that I'm under 15 years old and I'm not to good at these kinds of things) I just love the music it is really great. To say it in an old way "LYNYRD SKYNYRD ROCKS, MAN!"
Have any sights with downloads of songs from LS?

See yas!

I recently finished the book "an oral history" by Lee ballinger . Anyone who likes lynyrd
skynyrd should read this. These guys were right off the street just like you and me.
They loved to play baseball,go fishing, campin and stuff like that. They all have their
own unique story, but they all had music in their hearts and in their heads. Some say
Ronnie was a genius, with all the lyrics and music in his head. He wrote simple man in
the shower. My heart goes out to gary, billy,ed, artimus, leon, johnny, randall, jeff, lacy
vanzant, and everybody else that keeps lynyrd skynyrd going ,please don't stop.
WE LOVE YOU MAN

Forever searching for bigger and better sounds it came as a a wonderfull treat when a friend loaned me Lynyrd Skynyrds stunning debut. I listen to a wide variety of music from tecno and hip hop to such diverse talent as Joe Satriani or S.R.V. This album blew me away and sent my playing and musical influence in a new direction, a truly timeless masterpeice giving the best of missisippi blues and southern soul.

It is nothing short of a crime that Lynyrd Skynyrd is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The voters, whom I'm sure see the band as too regional, refuse to acknowledge the influence Lynyrd Skynyrd has had on today's musicans and Rock and Roll in general. To me , their greatest strength was lack of pretense. They went out night after night giving great performances without the pyros or flashy light shows that many bands of the 70's relied on. Ronnie Van Zant will never get his due as a simple yet highly effective writer of some of the greatest songs in music history. To all whom have a say in who is elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...You are doing Lynyrd Skynyrd a hugh misjustice by not allowing this great band to stand along side the others who have shaped Rock and Roll.

Lynyrd Skynyrd are one of my favourite bands. My Dad is their biggest fan and he has got tickets for him me and my mum to go to the concert in Birmingham. Billie Powell is my role model, and I really look up to him. I know it is my dad's dream to meet the gang, and you never know some day he might.

>>By LORI   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:37)

Skynyrd is the best no doubt "free bird" still gives me chills everytime i hear it. Van Zant was the greatest song writer ive ever heard and the guitar solo by Collins at the end is the greatest of all time.

I had to choose a song for my Music project at first i thought about doing it on a Led Zeplin song but then i realized why do a Led Zeplin song when Sweet Home Alabama is the best song in the world!!!
