Does anyone have the lyrics to "Righteously" ? I know it's off the new album and may not be available yet, but any info would be helpful. Thanks.

i am looking for those lyrics too. i have looked all over the web and there is nothing. it's like the twilight zone out here...   (Tuesday, 22 Apr 2003 06:17)

I have been looking for them also, I am sure I figured out most but some does not really seem correct, maybe some one else can figure it out.

You don’t need to prove your manhood to me constantly; I know you’re the man cant you see? I love you righteously, why do want to diss me after the way you’ve been kissing me after those pretty things you say, and the love we made today. When you run your hand all up and run it back down my leg get excited and bite my neck, get me all worked up like that.

Think this rule, let it down for you every time, spend every minute of you what’s mine your entirely way to fine, arms around waist you get a taste of how good this can be, be the man you are tenderly, stand up for me, flirt with me, don’t keep hurting me, don’t cause me pain, be my lover, don’t play no game, just play me John Coltrane.

You almost have them right. Second verse is, Think this through, laid it down for you every time, expect me to give you what's mine, you're entirely way too fine.

RIGHTEOUSLY
(Williams)

You don't have to prove
Your manhood to me constantly
I know you're the man can't you see
I love you Righteously

Why you wanna dis me
After the way you been kissin me
After those pretty things you say
And the love we made today

When you run your hand
All up and run it back down my leg
Get excited and bite my neck
Get me all worked up like that

Think this through
I laid it down for you everytime
Respect me I give you what's mine
You're entirely way too fine

Arms around my waist
You get a taste of how good this can be
Be the man you ought to tenderly
Stand up for me

Flirt with me don't keep hurtin me
Don't cause me pain
Be my lover don't play no game
Just play me John Coltrane

I've been working at my job, and this song by someone who's voice I don't recognize comes over the store music system. Darn song haunts me. Hear it in my dreams. Of course, the store music comes via satellite, nobody in the store knows who it is singing.

As the pirate with the steering wheel in his pants said, "Yar, drivin' me nuts!" In desperation, I plug in the line "get me all worked up like that" into Google... and here we are.

I bow to the glory that is Lucinda Williams. This CD will be mine tomorrow. Thank you all!!!

I thought the lyrics went "please allow me to introduce myself: I'm a man of wealth and taste..."

This was on the radio at the gift shop of a museum I visited on Sunday morning. The volume was on low and I thought at first that it was the Stones live. Then I took a few steps and heard a woman's voice and thought, someone actually covered Sympathy for the Devil. Then I took a few more steps and realized - someone ripped off Sympathy for the Devil.

Wow, seems like we all had the same problem!! I too heard this song at work, and it has been driving me crazy for DAYS trying to figure out the name of it, I finally entered "Just play me John Coltrane" in the search engine and found it. Thank you!!

OH MY GOD! I typed in "I love you righteously" to try to find this song. I had already tried "worked up like that" "get excited and bite my neck" etc etc. I work at JC Penney.. anyone else? They play this song EVERY day and I have been wondering/searching for weeks for who it is and what it is. I love it.. and everytime it would come on at work we'd all discuss it and no one knew who it was. I've sang it to family members and everything. If I hadn't found this site tonight, I probably would have embarrassed myself and called the radio station in the next couple of days. It 'haunts' me too.

PS It plays really quiet at work and anytime the phone rang or customers talked to me while it was on I wanted to be like "HUSH!"

Hehe.. That's eerie that we all have the same experience with this song. I'm so happy now that I know what it is!

I swear, I'm so freaked out by this! LOL

>>By Rheanna   (Friday, 25 Jul 2003 01:58)

Lol, they play this every day as well, where I work at Home Depot; ditto to Rheanna's comments. "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" is also worth buying. Lucinda rocks!

Check out her earlier stuff like one just called 'Lucinda Williams' and also the one I first heard, 'Sweet Old World'.... the title track of that is just heartbreaking. Seems she lost her brother at the time & the songs are influenced by that. At that time, her songs were like 'straight' country music sort of cut up & re-arranged, so it sounded country, but not like anyone else. Lucinda rips my heart out.

Yay, Lucinda is touring lil' ole NZ. I got my ticket, I'm ready for April 6

Sorry to relate that the tour here has been cancelled due to Lucinda's recent loss of her mother.
