I love the visions that are created in her music. She doesn't just affect your ears, she affects your sight and your soul

Her voice takes me to a place.. where I
know I have been before....a place that I dream of, and feel in this present life. She
has awakened my soul, and warmed my spirit.
She has the voice of the goddess,
embracing me, and lifting
my spirits.. . .her thoughts,
feelings, and visions inspire me.

Loreena Mckennit is such and incredilble artist. I suggest if you are a fan of hers to check out Ashley McIsaac and his new album. He can really jam on the fiddle.

Drake1, I went and compared Loreena McKennitt with Ashley McIsaac, and I must say I'm disappointed. The samples I heard showed a much more popsong-like sound, nothing truly ethnic or deeper-reaching in there. I might just have heard wrong examples, but still... Jamming the fiddle is not a bad description. Yet that isn't what most of us find in McKennitt's music. No jamming there, a trancelike state, perhaps. But those are two entirely different things. Not everyone playing a fiddle/violin can evoke this particular atmosphere. Besides, she doesn't play the violin - one of the few instruments she doesn't play herself ...

And yes, she is devine on stage. I heard her live about seven years ago in Brussels and it was magnificent. This lady knows exactly what's she's doing and she's superb doing it.

i agree, loreena's mix of western and middle eastern music is a thing of rare beauty. i strongly recommend those fans of hers who are particularly fond of this marriage of styles to check out lisa gerrard. she was one half of dead can dance, and her music and singing is very close to much of what loreena does. her voice is operatic!

I know Dead can Dance quite well, and like with all split-ups the original team sounds better to me than the two members by themselves. I haven't really gone into Gerrard's solo work deeply, however. Always worth a try...

I love Loreena's voice, I have all of her albums, and I happy, because she isn't famous in Hungary, but the "Skellig" was played in Frei Tamás - 8 nap alatt a Föld körül (Thomas Frei is a big Hungarian reporter, and his new program 8 days around the world)
And everybody know I who was the singer, and I haven't got any Loreena McKennitt CD now...:)
