I love keith whitley's song when u have nothing to say at all and i am interested in getting some information....written information on him since my last name is same as his . Whitley for the last name is rare. And I am hearing impaired...therefore, I can't hear his songs...so I would love to have his songs written down for my files.

I am 19 years old, and I love everything my Keith Whitley. He life and the shape he was in made his sad songs seem a little sadder. You could tell his influences in his style of singing from such atists, as Merle Haggard, and Lefty Frizzell. All of his songs are really great especially his slow sad songs, including my favorite, the old Lefty song "I Never Go Around Mirrors". Keith left this world much to soon, and never will be forgotten. He is truly an american icon and will always be. If you would like to e-mail me to talk about Keith and his songs and other artists my e-mail address is nickh@mounet.com

Hey i'm 18, and keith is definately my favorite artist of all time. I was brought up on this kind of music and it has stuck with me. Keith did leave this world way too soon, and it's such a shame that it had to happen that way. I truly feel he would've have been the "best" country artist of all time. Just think of his short career, and how many hits he had. His voice is one of a kind, there is not another like it. I also do set and listen to him all day sometimes haha. I would like all the info possilbe on Keith, so e-mail me at krlewa01@louisville.edu

Later,
Kyle

Keith Whitley was born in early July of 1955, in a small eastern Kentucky town called Sandy Hook. There's alot to be said about his influences growning up, but Keith started out early - appearing on the Buddy Starcher radio show as early as 5 years old, singing "You Win Again" and "Big Iron". By the time Keith was 13-14 years old, himself, his brother Dwight, Ricky and Hobart Skaggs together formed a bluegrass band and made their own radio show broadcast out of West Liberty Kentucky. This of course led to the joining of Keith and Ricky to Ralph Stanley's band, The Clinch Mountain Boys. Keith and Ricky fit right in. It was at the bright young age of 15 that alcoholism had taken Keith by way of clubs and small circuits; and Keith couldn't turn it down. It was one way or another, and obvious, that Keith would be that way for a long time if not soon helped. Keith's next big step would be marrying his high school love, Cathy and signing on to RCA records after a breif fallout with J.D. Crowe and the New South. His first solo effort, "A Hard Act To Follow" was amazing, but small - and flopped. Singles included "Don't Our Love Look Natural" and "I've Got the Heart For You". However, it wasn't until his second studio LP, 'LA to Miami' that Whitley got the attention he deserved. "Miami, My Amy" shone his true talent, and followed up two other hits from that same record. A third album was in the works, and Whitley wrote most of his own material, but in recognizing that his talent was practically still un-noticed, the almost finished product was scrapped. It wasn't until 1988 that Whitley would see his biggest success to date: the release of "Don't Close Your Eyes" - an introduction to the songs that people still know him for today, including the title track, "When You Say Nothing At All", and "I'm No Stranger to the Rain". The album went gold and saw 3 top ten hits. Also, Whitley had remmarried country singer Lorrie Morgan and adopted a daughter, Morgan from her previous marriage. A son, Jessie, would soon follow. But the happiness was all too short, as Whitley's alcohol problem would catch up with him and sadly take his life on May 9th of 1989. He was 33. To date, Keith has 2 gold records and a tribute album. Several compilations were released including tracks that were recorded from the scrapped session and sessions with JD Crowe. Look for these titles - "Wherever You Are Tonight", "Kentucky Bluebird", "Sad Songs & Waltzes" and "Country Legends".

Keith Whitley is what true country is all about. He was true to the legend of country music. It is a shame he had to leave so soon. He himself is a legend. Keith will live on in our hearts. No one will ever compare to him.

Hello Y'all,

I own and operate www.keithwhitleyblvd.com . I have seen a negative post or two about this site, and find it rather suprising. Especially when I have run this site for over 4 years now. I pay for everything that is done, the domain name, the hosting, etc. This is not cheap to run. I do not ask for ANY reimbursement for what I do. I started the site out of love and dedication for Keith, but I guess some people just don't understand that. I have a full time job, married and raising a child. Yes, I am sure there is alot more I could do for the site. Lyrics has always been a big issue on the site. I have had many fans volunteer the lyrics, and yet in the long run, They are the ones that don't come through. I have a job 40 hours a week to tend to, a family, and personal life (which I believe I an entitled to have. I help promote artists that love and pay tribute to Keith in their shows. Keith Whitley events, I help with those as well. Maybe some fans feel that I should get a divorce, quit my job, and put my daughter up for adoption, so I can make Keith Whitley Blvd. Com a site that pleases every single visitor that comes in. Well, I thought about it, and have decided that I am keeping my job, my wife and my daughter, and what personal life I DO HAVE, and I am still going to run Keith's site for the 99% of the REAL FANS who enjoy the site. If ya want lyrics and can help, that is awesome. Send them my way, I will add a LYRICs link, and add the fans names to each and every Lyric they send in. Ya know, there are many people out there who does things from their heart and don't look for any recognition in return, I just hope they don't get stabbed in the back as much as I do. Y'all have a good day, and God Bless Keith Whitley and all his many GREAT FANS out there who still love him and his music.
