Jellyfish

If you're a serious Jellyfish fan, Fan Club (Not Lame Records) is an absolute MUST OWN!!! I've been a fan of these guys since the very beginning, and had the good fortune to see them live for both album tours (though Andy had a bit of a cold at the Spilt Milk show, so that one wasn't as memorable). These guys together, and alone in their solo projects, are true musical geniuses. If you're persistent, you should be able to find some "ultra-rare" Andy Sturmer tracks post-Jellyfish on the internet (I did, 5 in total). And I must agree with the former post of The Gray's and Jason Falkner's solo work being MUST HAVES! All fantastic music. Though I must say, I never did get into that Moog Cookbook stuff Roger Manning was experimenting with a few years back.

I totally agree about the not lame box set. I spent three long years with only the two albums to keep me happy (and happy I was) but I needed more. Can you actually believe that I cried when my box set was delivered?! I have picked up some other rarities from record fairs etc. since. Its hard finding stuff in the uk. But if you need something that will scratch that jellyfish itch then look up Bleu McAuley at www.bleutopia.com. He is so obviously influenced by Andy Sturmer and has even collaborated with him on his latest album (lucky bloke). That s Bleu's latest album, not Andy's , worse luck.

I worked at Charisma Records when they were on the label. I was just a peon then, but I remember hanging out with the guys and seeing them live a couple of times. I noticed it was a very love/hate thing with Jellyfish. You either loved them. Or you hated them. Me? I loved them. Today, I was walking down the hall and this guy was cranking out a CD from some band or another and it reminded me of Jellyfish...not as good...but it got me thinking. And here I am.

I, too, miss them. I wonder if I still have one of their old "jellypacks" that were sent out to the press and radio. They were a complete disaster. The packs all broke in the mail. Oh well...may their music live on.

I saw them on the Spilt Milk tour in NYC, killer band, killer show. I went with my old band God Is Black and we kept looking around the sound booth for samplers or other devices used to fly in vocals but we couldn't find any, they just sang that good.

Any of you ever get the promo CD Charisma passed around called "Jellyfish Comes Alive"? It's a great live CD with some coll covers like Wing's "Jet" and a medly of "Let'em in / That is why."

Just ordered Fan Club off Amazon, can't wait.

I've got a version of Bellybutton which includes Jet and Let em in/That is why. But I havent got the promo that you speak of. Can you tell me what Jet really means? Before he sings it he says "Both you and I know what Jet really means..." I've asked loads of people but no-one can give me an answer thats clear.

I gotta tell you.....I hadn't pulled my Jellyfish cd's out in sometime. Then, this morning, out came Bellybutton (I am blessed to have a really great JPL sound system in my 2002 Toyota Camry Solara). Man.....the better the sound system, the better this record gets. The closer the scrutiny, the better the album. The separation highlights the superb musical performance on this album.

How does a band get this good and not gain a broader notice among the masses? How can cats be in a band this good, then let it slip away like it was no big deal (I know The Beatles did that some years ago, but not before they had stayed together for enough years to be truly sick of one another! I mean....come on....Jellyfish I am sure could have put up with each other for a few more albums....couldn't they?)

Anyway, I just learned through this discussion board, of the Fan Box Set, and just ordered it from Amazon.com. I repeat the earlier sentiments of the person who did the same.........I CAN'T WAIT! I chose the next day delivery method but it doesn't look like it is going to ship until Dec. 30!!!!!!!! (God, make this month fly by!)

I was going to buy the Jellyfish VHS on e-bay but had forgotten my usename and password. Within 15 minutes, e-bay e-mailed me the information. I went back onto this website and......POOF........it is gone!

Will the seller of this item (if you see this post), please let me know how I might purchase this item from him?

I love both the "proper" Jellyfish CDs and am delighted to find I'm not alone.

Saw them live in Lodon too amazing sound from just 4 (count 'em) guys

Its worth mentioning a welsh band called Ether who did one album called Strange. I find that they rock the same funky skippy happy 'your favourite ad jingle' vibe as Jellyfish. Not as good though (sorry Rory et al). Also check out Fuzzbubble at fuzzbubble.com. Finally I'm going to mention Bleu McAuley again (bleutopia.com) He's the closest I've come to scratching that Andy Sturmer itch. If you havent already checked him out do it just for five mins I guarantee you wont be sorry.
