Yeah, they've already made classics like American English and You Held The World In Your Arms. Great scottish music!

I've heard almost every Idlewild song and they've since become my favorite band. The best thing about them is hearing thier metamorphosis from a punk revival group into a brilliant alternative rock act. Roddy has a really great voice too. While most UK acts have a lead with high vocals, Roddy has a very soothing deep voice. I don't know what it is, but I can't help singing along to every one of thier songs. Try finding some b-sides too like "Queen of the Troubled Teens", "All This Information", or "Poor Thing".

I saw Idlewild in the same venue I saw Mogwai for the first time. They both totally rocked the place. Two of my all time favourite shows. Scottish bands are always special.

I love the repetitive, almost autistic nature of their lyrics. the first verse of 'you held the world...' for instance. they seem to have two really different styles, thrashy shouty punk and melodic Americana, reminiscent of REM... luckily I like both... I think Roddy Woomble is very interesting...
