Your music reminds me of the time that I was riding down the hill on the handlebars of the bycicle and I looked back Ricky, and you were no longer on the bike.

>>By merlin   (Wednesday, 15 Jan 2003 07:27)

So, what was their greatest hit?

>>By Pao   (Friday, 24 Jan 2003 04:01)

How do you know the broke up?

>>By Liquid   (Saturday, 25 Jan 2003 03:03)

From what I've gathered, Ricky Brooks and Zac Maloy never got along when the Nixons were around, which he left and Ricky Wolking replaced him. Somewhere during "The Latest Thing," John, the drummer, left...and afterwards Jesse. Zac formed the Zac Maloy band and Ricky B., Jesse and John formed Huver. In interviews Ricky Brooks was spiteful towards Zac and really was an all out dick. I had the mispleasure of meeting him once in Dallas. He was the fall of both bands. John has recently come back to Zac and is drumming for the Zac Maloy Band, Jesse was going to try out for Limp Bizkit, in which I would have lost all respect for him. Not sure about Rickt B. or the lead guy for Huver.

The other thing I had heard, was that Garin (Lead singer of Huver), could not cut with doing the band. They were having money problems, they apparently didn't sell their first cut of EP's or didnt meet an estimate number they had to reach. But mainly their break up had to do with Ricky B. Then Garin had to get working, so that he could support his family. Sad deal it was, the band was awesome itself.

>>By HaLKoN   (Thursday, 20 Feb 2003 23:33)

I just wanted to agree w/you there, Huver was a really kick ass band - seriously in my top THREE.... It's really sad that they broke up; didn't even know they HAD broken up until about 2 months ago...just fell off the face of the earth (im not from OK so I don't hear local news on them.)I think if someone could go find Garin and convince him to get everyone back together, replacing Brooks of course...and john since he's w/ the ZMB now, then maybe...eh...*dreams*
I can't even find the cd anywhere....my copy's worn out...poor cd. Awesome huver.

>>By Chrissy   (Thursday, 27 Feb 2003 04:25)

My surname is Huver and I didn't even know there was a band called Huver. Cool! Sorry to hear it doesn't exist anymore. Did they make a cd?

>>By dusty rhodes   (Tuesday, 29 Apr 2003 17:18)

lil brother, did you work at olive garden in okc?

>>By cadillacd   (Thursday, 8 May 2003 01:13)

they broke up due to a couple of lawsuites filed against them. the band fired their management company after they dumped over 30k into them. Fired a booking agent they had run up a pretty large tab with, then hired drowning pools manager and got a bad wrap with music industry professionals as hard to work with. Rumour has it, management company 1 had them 2 deals on the table and HUVER wanted more $$$$. they were looking for a "millon dollar" deal. John has sinced joined southfm and the rest are out of the business for good (so we have heard). keep checking huver.net. management company 1 says they have some unreleased music and a complete concert they are going to make available after they rebuild the website.

I don't know if anyone still checks this forum..........but FYI, if you liked Huver, you would have loved Garin's first band "OWL." They released an EP.

>>By mrbane   (Tuesday, 13 May 2003 08:12)

I am also curious if anyone still checks this forum. It's been years but a lot of good memories of the guys... There's a lot of trash talk here about Ricky. Just for the record...He is a great guy, very kind and considerate. It was Zac that I never cared for, somewhat arrogant and obnoxious. Only met John once, seemed nice. Jesse was great, lots of fun. I miss Ricky though..wish I knew what was going on with him these days.

I used yto hang witht he guys everytime they'd play dallas. even slipped jesse my very, very raw demo for my project OneGunTheory. he said he liked what he heard, what you could hear of it anyway, but it needed work. that much i already knew...

all the guys were amazingly friendly. not the typical rockstar type, being famous & all over mtv & radio didn't seem to change them. of course, i didn't know them before huver, so i have little comparison.

i stuck all the huver tracks i ever found on minidisc & listen to it at least once every couple days. i miss seeing them play like i used to.

best of luck & godspeed to them all, may fortune be with them.

I've never heard Huver, but The Nixons were the greatest band on Earth! And I was devastated when John & Jesse left the band, although it's been a couple years now. I was wondering if anyone knows if Jesse is still in Oklahoma City as I have recently moved there & would love to hook up with him again, and I know my husband would love to meet him. I just don't know how to get a hold of him anymore. Is there a Huver or "New" Nixons show anytime soon? And, yes, whoever said Ricky Brooks was a dick, I agree. I also met him about 8 years ago. What a jack ass!!! And yes, if anyone else says something bad about Jesse, Zac, or John, I will find you & kick you in your shin...really hard!

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Dusty Rhodes~

Do you know the name of Jesse's liquor store? Does he own the place? Anybody know Jesse's middle name or initial?

I just talked to Ricky Wolking today, so here's the latest info on the guys that I got in case y'all are interested. He didn't know what Jesse was up to, but Ricky is in a band called Edgewater that just got signed on Windup Records. They are currently in the studio, and the record is due out in January. Zac is currently on tour in support of his second solo effort. His new CD the "Yellow EP" includes the song "Starkiss." he has a website www.zacmaloy.com. John is playing in a band called South FM which is signed to Universal records, and they currently have a CD out. Just an update on our guys for anyone who cares.

just to let you all know, not that any of you will beleive me or anything. My freind Andrew is Ricky Brooks Brother, The singer left the band due to job problems with a company he was involved with. He moved to colorado i beleive.

so rumor has it that huver may be getting back together...jesse and garin would be involved, not sure about ricky b., and john is tied up with national recording artists at the moment... just wanted to address all of the b.s. that has been mentioned about huver's former management and former booking agents...huver did not screw them over. holding out for a better, no--for the best possible deal, is a smart thing... particularly when 3 of the members had already done the national record deal thing, and they learned from past mistakes... those managers/ booking agents were total amateurs, rookies, and they just didn't have the skills to pull it off, ultimately. take it from someone who knows firsthand. they were green. anyways, jesse is doing well, working with music and other projects...not sure about garin or ricky, but john is traveling and working too... peace out.

I hope somebody still checks this thread because I would like for someone to please post a listing of Huver's songs. I have the Wheatland EP, but from what I've read they have other songs that are only available on file sharing networks. Also, if Ricky is really in the band Edgewater, that is a shame because they sound like any other new metal band on the market these days.

So it's been almost a whole year, has anyone heard anything by these guys? What is going on? What they are doing?

Currently i've been enjoying a new project called HURT they have still yet to release an album, they are working on it with Capitol Records, and I hold them highly up there with Huver.

Just wondering if anyone has any updates on Garin or Jesse?

By the way, Huver's Ricky did not join supercell, it was the Nixon's second Ricky that joined supercell.

From what I remember reading.

>>By halkon   (Wednesday, 28 Sep 2005 20:01)

Actually, neither Ricky joined Supercell. Both are awesome players, and we would have been glad to have them, but it just never happened. What DID happen was Supercell co-wrote a song w/ Huver called "Lights Out"; which is on Supercell's record THE NEW AMERICAN STANDARD.

Currently, Jesse is in a band called 4 Points West, neither Garin or Ricky (Brooks) appear to be in the music business, John has been in Seether for some time now.

HOWEVER, you can find a new life breathed in old Huver material on an upcoming record by my new band Killing Caroline as we have re-recorded "Meridian" from the Wheatland CD. You can hear a streaming version at www.Myspace.com/KillingCaroline.

Thanks,

Jason (formerly of Supercell)
