Frankie Knuckles

Forum

Many years ago I danced to the music Frankie was putting down at US Studios; it was an ultimate experience. There was no plcae in these United States that compared to the clubs in Chicago, Especially US Studios (206 South Jefferson Street); I would get there about 2:00AM and dance until closing which varied each Saturday night. I had also enjoyed the experience of the most popular crowd in town, the people came from all over to be in attendence each Saturday night at The Warehouse. The milieu was that of the trendest fashions, beautiful people, intellect and street trade all mixed in together, music off the chain and light effects that added to the ultimate high we would experience as a result of good music and special effects. There are people from that era that still stand paramount in my mind to this day; those people include, but not limited to: Frankie Knucles, Ziggy, Robert, Ron, Kenneth, Pam (affectonally known as: Miss Pooh Pooh La La), Michael, Freddie, Morris and Aronald. Frankie Knuckles enhance the lives of so many people through his music and his personal style.

I am also a former proud member of USA Studio/Warehouse in Chicago....this was a time when the gay community was more closed knitted and was like family....it was nothing for a friend(s) to come by and pick you up to venture out to the warehouse...I remembered all the names listed below and oftentimes run into many of the former members in my travels...Frankie truly pioneered music for the new and sometime lost generation. It was a time where HIV was not even a thought let alone mentioned...not until the closing of the Warehouse, Playground, Music Box, 161, and The Loft is when such a disease started taken over our community. Today things are very different...most of the music don't have the sounds that would lift you off your feets as with the music from the warehouse....now-a-days...i have to search high and low to find music to fit my taste...I am still the owner of 1,000 waxes from that era...I can remember walkiing in the Warehouse and hearing "here come that sound again" or "when you wake up tomorrow" and love sensation, Dr. Love, Here We Go Again and so on....Today I guard those records as my private stock...the only time they played is at my exclusive gathering and you can best believe the kids get up and start dancing until the next day....

I missed those days and all the friends who i used to party with...my best friend Robert Owen..truly someone I missed....
