Fetish

Forum

I'm a DJ at a fetish club in Montreal. I tend to spin music with an aggressive, tech-industrial edge to it as to enhance the sensation of play. I've been enduring recent criticism toward the music that I play. It would seem that I'm not "goth enough". Have I lost touch with the true definition of the word "fetish" or are these people looking at the wrong club for the wrong thing? I personally admire the "gothic" sub-culture, however, the last time I was asked what the word "fetish" meant, I defined it as being a personal lust, fantasy and / or desire practiced gratuitously without regret. Of course this could involve cross-dressing, diaper-wearing, dominating, submitting, or worshiping the dead! In summary, like I said in the beginning, I'm a DJ at a fetish club in Montreal; not a goth club in Monreal. Somebody please save me from my cinicism! Thanks for listening - Jayk
