Eydea is not underated, he is just rarely heard. (quoted from vakill of molemen) I have never heard anyone make an art of hip hop like eyedea does. I feel that he could be as big as eminem if he was heard more. The only person that I have heard besides eminem that competes wiht eyedea would have to be slug of atmosphere. If anyone has a list of where eyedea is playing this year, please post it because I would travel to Australia and back to hear him live. If anyone has not heard "Bigshots", "The Baddest", or "Even Shadows Have Shadows", they need to download it ASAP. If you hate hearing so called artists talking about clothes, bitches, and jewlery, then you need to download Eydea and listen to some lyrics that are poetically composed

Eyedea is sick, that's all i gotta say. His lyrics and rhymes are like no other. Listen to his spoken word and you'll know more of what he's about. It's not a rap, more of a poetry thing but everything he says is just killer. If you want more shit like this get some Atmosphere cuz slug(the emcee) is wild. Another awesome group is Ink Operated, straight from Vancouver B.C. They can rip shit up on the mic.

Im from minnesota and i must say we have the best underground hiphop scene in the whole damn world. enough with that bling bling gangsta shit. those cats at RHYMESAYERS know what they are doing. Ive seen Atmosphere, Eyedea and the rest of the crew a few times and damn do they know how to throw a party. Up here it aint a concert, it a party. Eyedea is the best (along with SLUG) MC out there. He can tear kids in battles, as well as tell a crazy fuckin story on a record. Keep doin what you're doin and REPRESENT for MINNESOTA!!

Well, IMO this generation has been MTVed to hell and are entranced by that Rap Pop shit like "Hot in Herrr" and all that. Im not dissin that cat, but how is that hip hop. Anyways, Eyedea is the illest Freestyler by far. Now what I am bout to say take under consideration, because I hate this guy but... I think if Eyedea dissed Eminem (on a CD), Eminem would destroy him. Eminem's CD disses are unparralell, but I dont know cecause Eyedea might come out with some shit he has had stored away or something. But I think in a real Battle Eyedea would take it.

Cats like Eyedea, Slug, and Aesop Rock are the only cats who really keep me interested in rap. I mean, everything's pop, and they're all a buncha pop stars you keep seeing, talking about materialistic crap over and over, and its hard, because i think they really believe that they're hot and if you said to someone to listen to eyedea, these cats would bug and slam the kid, its so ridiculous.
On a side not, a friend of mine told me that recently Eyedea and RZA just happened to be at the same place, and for fun, they battled. i heard it was good and it was actually pretty evenly matched, cus like him or not, RZAs got ill knowledge. just check it, heard it was dope.

Eyedea is a great emcee. He has good prewritten shit to bust out in battles (which EVERY cat in the world does nowadays) and mixes it with pure freestyle and personals against his opponent. In terms of songwriting, I heard a few joints by Eyedea. The lyrics are dope but the production is horrific. The instrumentals to stuff like Even Shadows Have Shadows is not nearly as sick as other catz. Jedi Mind Tricks, Eminem, Talib Kweli and Mobb Deep have very high-quality instrumentals and production. I can understand that this is because Eyedea is still underground and doesn't have the resources, but JMT aren't big either and they still have ILL instrumentals.
Problems with the freestyle nation today is that a lot of it isn't freestyle. Stuff that is done by Jin, Shells, Crooked I and Non Phixion is mostly prewritten. Eyedea is one of the better top-of-the-dome catz out there, and in that way he is similar to Eminem. However, Eyedea is also different because Eyedea tells random stories about fictional people instead of rapping about himself. Neither style is better than the other.
Eyedea has the potential to go big.

I'm a big eyedea fan. i like his rhymes, and what he discusses in them as well. I like his BATTLING TACTICS. in fact, i think that every one who battles should use eyedea tactics cuz that's the only way to win. i'm telling, all i do is use FUNNY, WITTY punchlines and i win every fuckin time. anyways, eyedea recently played in gilroy (45 min. away from my hometown santa cruz, CA) and i lost a little respect for him. he is arrogant, and when i said "what's up" to him out back, he gave me a dirty look as if he was too good to acknowledge someone who digs his shit. the fisrt thing he said when he went onstage was: " I'm the best emcee on earth, no one will ever beat me!" hahah brother ali beat him at scribble jam. oh well, slug's better anyway. Damn, eyedea is tha shit. I agree about the battle tactics he uses and it amazes me that he isn't more popular than he is. He actually raps about shit that makes sence to you if you got half a fuckin braincell.
