Eminem is hot right now, but it doesn't mean he's the best MC of all time. I mean he's good and all, but there's like real pioneers and old school soldiers of the game, that Eminem can't never beat. Eminem might be remembered as one of the best MC's in HipHop, but ya can't forget the people who started it all, like Ice-T, Run-D.M.C., Afrika Bambaataa, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, and so on.

My fav. top-5 MC list would be the follow:

Tupac Shakur
Nas
André "3000" Benjamin
DMX
Eminem

he probably moisturizes. how the hell do you spell that word? anyway, eminem has some good lyrics. what i find most amazing about him is his propensity for change. he's absolutely remarkable in his ability to adapt and progress in his style. he went from mocking celebrities like christina aguilera and britney spears to mocking handicap people and the deceased with christopher reeves and sonny bono, respectively. he's amazing. not many people can rap as fast as him and still form coherent sentences...even if they are mockeries of people he's probably, himself, never met. i just don't really understand how rappers can still rap about the hard life of the streets after they've blown up and made, say, their first $10 million dollars. but i've also been accused of being a cynic. i'd like to see eminem and fifty cent battle. a live freestyle battle. none of this...on the next album BS. i want it in my face on MTV.

Eminem has the ability to be who ever he wants to be, and that is his main appeal. He has many roles: actor, super-star, writer, musician, rapper, but perhaps most importantly his role as a father. His many “talents” is want attracts fans – plus his capability to write lyrics that stretch across the age barrier.

Rancid Star, I find it interesting (by interesting I mean hilarious and ridiculous) that you deride Eminem's lyrics but list Avril Lavigne as one of your favorite musicians on your profile.

>>By granther   (Monday, 21 Jun 2004 22:11)

Eminem gets a lot of attention for three reasons which I will rank right here, right now!

A) He's white
B) He's angry (and/or homophobic although most rappers are. In order to be hard and put yourself above the rest you have to question the others' masculinity. What better way of doing that than calling him a queen?)
and far distant C) He's leaps and bounds a better lyricist than any other mainstream rapper out (which isn't saying much, mind you. Comparing Eminem to Lil' Flip, Kanye West or Lloyd Banks is an insult to him)

How do people feel about that.

Also, would you think he's so hot if he wasn't famous? He seems pretty average to me. Or, is it the phenomenal power of his crotch grabbing that enraptures you? Crotch grabbing!

>>By DJ Saucy Crotch   (Tuesday, 22 Jun 2004 02:32)

in my opinion, avril lavigne is a better artist, mostly because i dont like rap but thats besides the point.

>>By RaNcId_StAr   (Tuesday, 22 Jun 2004 02:43)

eminem is good but 2pac is great

>>By theli#1   (Tuesday, 22 Jun 2004 03:58)

Rancid Star, the fact that you don't like rap is not besides the point because it indicates you have no real basis for saying who is good and who is bad and what these terms even mean when applied to the rap genre. I personally don't enjoy punk, but I don't go on to the punk forum and declare they all suck and sound like whiny little prep boys whose mothers didn't spank them enough.

>>By granther   (Wednesday, 23 Jun 2004 21:27)

I don't like rap (much) but I think Eminem is one of the best... but still, he's an arse.

>>By Sk8a H8a   (Thursday, 24 Jun 2004 00:26)

i didnt really like rap, until Eminem came out! Rap on! (I cant say rock on, cuz he aint rock. lol.)

>>By imwhite-notmyfault   (Friday, 25 Jun 2004 04:09)

My cousin LOVES Eminem. He respect him very much.(I don't really like rap.)

>>By Manson-Twiggy   (Saturday, 10 Jul 2004 08:42)

people call Eminem a homophobe for constantly saying "Faggot" in his music. I do not agree. I have plenty of gay male friends who say some gay people deserve to be called "Faggots" and they also say that Eminem is so f---in hot and that they'd do him anyday. "My band" by d12 is the gayest Eminem song i've ever heard

I thinkk thatt eminem is amazinngg.......his lyrics have so much meaning when you really listen!! I used to HATE eminem like really hate him..and it wasnt till loose yourself came out that i really started listening...i understood what he was saying and it was brilliantt!! I started listening to other songs and reading the lyrics to themm...(like..sing for the momentt..I think mii dads gone crazy..Till I collapsee) when you read his lyrics and really think about themm they hqavee so muchh meaning and depthh.. like this one line in SING FOR THE MOMENT when he ssays " that's why we seize the moment.. try to freeze it and own it.., squeeze it and hold it.., cuz we consider these minutes golden!
and maybe they'll admit it when we're gone. Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our songs and we can..." <how he describes things is great too..what he feels and thinks is what he says and writes..and thats awsome that hes not afraid to say what he thinkss about things ..about people! He doesnt just do funny songs like Just loose it..my name is..and without me...HE HAS REALLY SERIOUS SONGS too...that talk about issuess annd how he feels on them!!he had to deal with growing up and now hes letting it all go in his rapss hes been thru mad shit that most of us will never understand!! if u dont like rap then dont listen to eminem!!! my opinion is that eminems is a lyrical genius who can put his thoughts and feelings to words ..he makes words rhyme that no1 ever thought could..who no's where he'll be in a few years..maybe a washed-up has beenn...or maybe hell still be just as BIG & just as good ...and maybe he will have retiredd and just enjoy raising his little girll ..whatever he is i believe he will always bee remembered for his music!!wether u like it or not

one of mi favorite lsongs of his is I THINK MY DADS GONE CRAZYY!! ( this is just a part)
" My songs can make you cry, take you by surprise at the same time, can make you dry your eyes with the same rhyme
see what you're seein' is a genius at work, which to me isn't work, so it's easy to misinterpret it at first
cus when I speak, it's tongue-in-cheek, I'd yank my fuckin' teeth before I'd ever bite my tongue
I'd slice my gums, get struck by fuckin' lightning twice at once and die and come back as VANILLA ICS SON !!
and walk around the rest of my life spit on, and kicked and hit with shit everytime I sung
like R. Kelly as soon as "Bump and Grind" comes on. More pain inside of my brain than the eyes of a little girl
inside of a plane aimed at the World Trade, standin' on Ronnie's grave, screamin' at the sky, till clouds gather, it's Clyde Mathers and Bonnie Jade
and that's pretty much the gist of it, the parents are pissed but the kids love it. 9 millimeter heater stashed in 2 seaters with meat cleavers
I don't blame you, I wouldn't let Hailie listen to me neither..."<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

eminem is the best
all his songs are ausome i can't wait untill his new cd comes out!!
:}

>>By meggie   (Saturday, 30 Oct 2004 01:34)

When Eminem says "Faggot" it doesn't make him gay. If that's it, then DMX, Jay-Z, Nas, Big Boi, Ludacris, B-Real, Sen Dogg, Snoop Dogg, Dr.Dre.... EVERYBODY in rap-music are gay. And i don't really believe that....

But "Encore" is great. Love that album.

>>By T.Montana   (Thursday, 2 Dec 2004 19:33)

I hate anyone who cant appreciate other people's sexuality. One of the biggest dissapointments of hip-hop and rap is the way they call women "ho's" all the time. It makes me sick. You dont hear Matt bellamy calling up his bitches to go chilling down the club.

But something that makes me titter is the way Eamon loves them women who make you pay for sex...lol.

>>By dannythejuggler   (Friday, 3 Dec 2004 22:16)

Just Lose It = full blown attack on G.W. props to that. that's about all though.

>>By nOel_x3   (Monday, 6 Dec 2004 04:11)

"If i was black, i wouldn't sold half. I ain't need to got to Lincoln High-School to know that".

Yes, Eminem knows he get's most of the attention, because he's succesful white man in black mans market. It ain't no secret.

>>By T.Montana   (Thursday, 3 Feb 2005 17:05)

Not true Eminem gets attention because he has talent example you have 2pac and then you have Vanilla ice who got more fame 2pac of course and rightly so colour makes no difference at all its your talent that makes the difference

>>By MetalBladeRecords   (Thursday, 10 Feb 2005 16:54)

Well, Eminem think's it was because the color of his skin... But, hey, we all have out own opinions, so fuck it.

What about chick-rappers? Listen to Dr.Dre's "2001". I think there was 2 female rappers on it. Both of 'em cuss more than the guys (and that's alot). Is that ok?
