Elvis Presley

Forum

Elvis Presley has been & always will be not just the King of Rock -n- Roll, but the undisputed King of all music. He is the best & no one can ever take his place in music history. People have tried but they always fail at least in my eyes & in my heart, don't get me wrong there are some good singers out there ,but still can't compare to Elvis, even when his health was failing him he still had that golden voice of silk. Well i've been a fan since i was a little boy & i'm 37yrs. old now & i still feel the same. I have a few people i call my idols,in public office is,even if it is before my time is John F. kennedy,in pro wrestling in the WWE is a man they call the Undertaker, but my one true idol is & always will be Elvis Aaron Presley. Thank you , Eloy Guerrero

ELVIS is the man that saved my sanity . He was there when nobody else was. When i was depressed and no one would listen. He would give me the comfort I needed just by listening to his music. The music, that always brought me some kind of comfort, was always delivered from the depest regions of his heart. Even though he didn't pick the song for me , he sang it for me .
This is not so much a tribute to the man, as it is a thank you.
In essance ELVIS raised me and I love hime for being who he is(and always will be).

The penalty of leadership: not only is it one of the (less famous) favourites of Elvis, it also embodies the stuff you get poured all over you when you're an downright original!! Elvis is Elvis and Elvis will always be just "Elvis", that magic 5 letter word, no matter what, so all of you who get sick of all the criticism: just don't!! Let us carry our souls in patience and be proud of what the Man has achieved. That, I might add, is unparallelled even to this day and I seriously doubt if there will ever be an artist that has the same charisma, capabilities, looks, manerisms and most of all, the attitude towards it all to carry it all through in a decent and humble way! To cut it short: I love Elvis for a 1000 reasons, and I'm proud of it!!

Thankyou Elvis Presley for being the man you were and for the joy and happiness that you have given us through the years even though you are gone we will always love and keep listening to your great songs and watching your movies and most of all remembering you for the kind and generous human being that you were. Elvis is the greatest rock, Blues, country Ballads EVER! i mean he could do evrything he wanted he could take a bad song and turn it into a hit instantly.

His voice power never will be replace and i bet you right now Elvis will continue to sell records until the end of time!!

He had a hit recently with the remix of a little less conversation....and its not his last one i can tell you this!
Ilove him for what he was for what he gave us God Bless him

Elvis is by far the most talented singer in popular music, even through today. No one can ever or will ever be this man. It is sad that most "artists" today have very little talent. Elvis defines pure talent and charisma. He is the original "cool", and no one will ever take his spot. His voice, and amazing ability to draw a crowd in to his concert is never to be seen again. Elvis is, and always will be, the undisputed "KING",

II have lived in Memphis all my life. Elvis has been a constant in my life for 45 years. Whenever I'm down or depressed, his music brings a smile to my heart. There is ALWAYS an Elvis in concert video in my recorder. Friends call me the "Elvis fanatic". I know every word to every song. I even have his moves down pat. Then to top everything he was the most beautiful man I have ever seen in my life. Any lady that agrees.......let's talk ELVIS.

to JohnJ
I believe that the song in the tunnel was promised land. It appears on quite a few elvis albums. Hope that helps, anyone out there can correct me if I am wrong. However, the song does not appear on the soundtrack for unknown reasons. What a chance to have that song put out and get airplay.

The song in: "Men In Black" - was called; "Promised Land"
~ One of E's most neglected, and yet one of his best songs!
= Only a (very small) few are even lucky enough to be in his league.
The greatest forever, - Full Stop!

Somebody out there has to help me. In the movie Viva Las Vegas, there is a scene where Lucky (Elvis) and Rusty (Ann Margaret) are in a club dancing as a group of 4 black (forgive the political incorrectness) men (only 3 are shown in close up) are singing. It's a very short song and the only song in the move that is NOT performed by Lucky/Elvis or Rusty/Ann. I'm trying to find the name of the group/song that these men sang. I've not been able to find it on any soundtracks of the movie nor does it appear in the credits (at least not in the VHS version that I have) either. Short of calling MGM Studio's and sounding like a complete idiot - does ANYBODY have any information??

I have a question about one of his songs. My all time favorite song of his, "Promised Land", is it Charlie Hodge singing the back up harmony behind him? Ok, two questions, the version of the song that's on "This Is Elvis" has the harmony track, but I haven't been able to find it on a CD. The actual "Promised Land" album only has harmony on 'Swing low chariot, come down easy, taxi to the terminal zone. Cut your engines and cool your wings and let me make it to the telephone. Los Angeles, give me Norfold Virginia tidewater 4 10 0 9. Tell the folks back home this is the promised land calling and the poor boy's on the line'. Does anybody know if the version from "This Is Elvis" is available on CD, or better yet, if the soundtrack to the movie has ever been released on CD.

bmg which owns elvis presley catalouge has reissued promised land remixed with something called dsd digital technology.
they went back to the original masters and messed with them and sometimes not for the better.

We cannot say how identical they might have been, but what if his twin, Jesse Garon, had survived birth & BOTH had equally become megastars, as The Presley Bros or whatever? Just imagine that!

He looked a twat in his jumpsuit and he was a fat bastard in later years...but you can't take away from the man. The epitome of the word 'Legend'

Brought Black Delta Blues to a white audience...and the world!!

Long Live 'The King'

>>By Narcotic_Prayer   (Saturday, 2 Feb 2008 04:53)

I am so happy when I don't hear him... I'd much rather hear the black artists that inspired Elvis then elvis.

>>By Campking   (Friday, 8 Feb 2008 13:12)

Elvis took black music and made it his own...got to be the King in the end, but he lost that fire he had in the beginning when he had to enter through the kitchen doors at the top hotels in Memphis. Elvis was Cherokee dirt poor but he could move his white ass and he had soul. Stayed in Hollywood too long, or was it Nevada?

>>By crazyhorse   (Saturday, 26 Apr 2008 10:19)

Cherokee lineage? Welsh blood too, they say.
