its your favorite friend again. i am a very big DK fan...even though i wont go see them now because they dont have jello, it's not because i am denying that whatever his face will be a good replacement...i am prone to being dissapointed and jello made the Dead kennedys, you know it, i know it, its a fact of life. so wait i forgot the point of my entry.............................weeeeeeeeew!

you can get all jello's spoken word cds from ak press. if you go to virgin records to get dk stuff thats a waste of money. If ak press doesn't work for some reason then go to alternative tentacles. you obviously have a computer so take 10 minutes and look around.

the dead kennedys are the sort of band that anyone that doesnt have the mind of a member of the pmrc can appreciate even without liking their music, their lyrics are relevant even today, 20 years after they were written.
i dont know what to think about the whole dk/brandon thing, im 14 and have seen one band i still like now (fugazi, fuckin brilliant live) so if they were to play a show here (northern ireland) i could get into (they played a pub, thanks for thinking about your hundreds, possibly thousands of fans over here under 18) i dont know if i would go to it, cos the messages are still clear, even if they guy that wrote them isnt singing them anymore, and the musics still there. they are also my favorite band and i know the rest of them are a bunch of money grabbing cunts, seeing as they fucked over the only one that didnt want to make more money than they needed and sell one of the best songs ever written to one of the worst corporations ever, well......i dont know what to say....

oh yeah and what do you think about most of the punks up belfast? most of them are right arseholes, i got hassled by one just for walking past him. all that real of poser punk argument. as far as im concerned if someone listens to at least some of the proper punk bands (crass, the exploited, dead kennedys, subhumans, conflict) and have true a true love for the music then i dont think they could be called a poser. and the older punks have to aknowledge that its harder for the younger punks and people just getting into it, they were around for a lot of the bands, we werent so its a lot harder to find their records, even hearing about them. ok well im rambling on again, as i usually do....bla...

Although I could never stomache the sheepish baaing of Jellos voice, I cannot deny that they kicked ass and helped launch the early hardcore scene.
Its true that without Jello as their front-man they technically are not "The Dead Kennedys" but then again their sound is so distinctive that if it had been the bassist or drummer or whatnot, they still wouldn't technically be "The Dead Kennedys". Look what happened to Strung Out when Jim Cherry left. They were still "Strung Out" but sounded completely fucking different.
The names is established with a credibility that they need. ANd since Jello left, not them, they should be allowed to use it regardless of how lame it is. It requires alot of time and dedication to create music. Of course they want the money. Would you want to work at McDonalds for free? Didn't think so.

i don't see why you people are putting down the kennedy's and saying they are money grubbers... don't get me wrong i'm not bad mouthing biafra but back to reality if you watch any of their new videos you will notice, they are having a fucking good time....they like playing punk rock and they are having fun doing it.......

I've never seen a DKs live performance, sad enough. But found peace with this fate. Yet i enjoy their music and i think they're great. All time fave definitly is the remake of 'Callifornia
über alles' on 'In God we trust co.' named 'We've got a bigger problem now'. Just cannot get enough of that song. Quite impressed by the meaning within 'Nazi punks fuck off'. O.k., it's something like nazi punks have to go fuck themselves or so. But i find something else in it too:
punk is not being tough, punk is not using violence, punk is being punk by heart.
