They are very good, but not quiet the same as Bright Eyes, though chance is that you may love them when you love Bright Eyes...

judging from "the ugly organ " which is the only one I've heard they make a great band. good dynamics, clever use of cello, great melodies and nice lyrics

Tim Kasher is amazing. I don't know if i like The Good Life or Cursive more, both are great. Blackout has to be my favorite album from Kasher.

i like cursive although not at first...but i havent listened to them a lot..=(

You defenatly should listen to them more often then, they have som really great stuff going on. Their earlier work is what now would be called emo or emocore, but their last albums are really good experimental pop or indie records, or what ever you should call it.... they know how to write songs and make things happen with notes...

Cursive is so fun. They make me happy. I'm listening to them right now. Every song is so different, unlike other music which sounds all the same, with different words, which don't even variate much either. Did that make sense? hummm, i wonder...

Art is Hard

Cut it out- your self-inflicted pain
is getting too routine
the crowds are catching on
to the self-inflicted song
Well, here we go again
the art of acting weak
Fall in love to fail
to boost your CD sales
(And that CD sells- yeah, what a hit)
You've got to repeat it
you gotta' sink to swim
If at fist you don't succeed
you gotta recreate your misery
'cause we all know art is hard
young artists have gotta starve
Try, and fail, and try again
the comforts of repetition
Keep churning out those hits
'til it's all the same old shit

Oh, a second verse!
Well, color me fatigued
I'm hiding in the leaves
in the CD jacket sleeves
tired of entertianing
some double-dipped meaning
a soft serve analogy
This drunken angry slur
in thirty-one flavors
You gotta' sink to swim
immerse yourself in rejection
regurgitate some sorry tale
about a boy who sells his love affairs
You gotta' fake the pain
you better make it sting
you're gonna' break a leg
when you get on stage
and they scream your name
"Oh, Cursive is so cool!"

You gotta sink to swim
impersonate greater persons
'cause we all know art is hard
when we don't know who we are
:::sighs::: (girly sigh)

Cursive are one of my all-time favorite bands. Not only do they put out great albums, but they put on a great live show. Tim Kasher is the best front man in indie rock in my opinion.
