you guys like crimso?

Well Paulie, I for one definately do. I bought my first Crimson CD when I was 12. It was the Concice King Crimson or something like that. It had some black woman in a wire frame horse or something. Anyway it definately opened my eyes up to new types of music. With their new CD it's becoming increasingly evident that they are one of the greatest if not influential bands of all time.

I don't know exactly why, but I liked the last album like it was the best of all KC albums (except for Red :).

"Level Five" is simply astounding.

Cheers.

Well, as bands go, they're different. You have to give them that.

Hi folks!

Yes, I'm a big time Crim fan. I first got into them at the age of 16 (back in 1974) when a friend of mine from school snuck one of his older brother's records out of the room and put it on the record player (yes, it was on vinyl!). The album in question was "In the Court of the Crimson King", and it really floored me - I had never heard anything like that before in my life and, from then on, I was hooked. I've been listening ever since. The band may occasionally fail by trying too hard, but they've never left me bored. My only gripe about them is that it's so dang hard to hear them live! They seldom if ever play here in the UK and never to my knowlege in Scotland...

An all time favorite for serious rockers only: "In the Court of the Crimson King" will last for ever.

Individual (music) units are almost non-existent. I'm flying from Houston for the show in NYC next month. There really is nothing else much worth listening to. Testament to their superiority and originality are the lists of more recognizable i.e. 'celebrity' musicians that frequent their shows. They make soul more than money. Alas the balance.

Adiz,

Enjoy the show.

I saw them play around 1972 or '73, with Jamie Muir in the band, so they'd have been promoting 'Red' maybe?
That was in a Top Rank ballroom. No one danced. We enjoyed listening.

Hmmm, a little research suggests that I saw them in Spring,1973 when they were gigging the Larks Tongues In Aspic album at the Swansea 'Top Rank'.
No support band as far as I can recall.

I like better the old stuff. From The Court to Starless and the Bible Black or USA. But so much better that I absolutely love it.

>>By Angus Drexler   (Thursday, 11 Dec 2008 20:48)

Are they still bringing out any new stuff?

>>By nonyeb   (Saturday, 13 Dec 2008 14:04)

Good question. Let´s hope they get guitar like again, don´t you think?

>>By Angus Drexler   (Saturday, 13 Dec 2008 18:25)

You want the Crimson guitars to be like they used to be? Well, if the band still operates, i'm very positive that Bob Fripp would be at the helm.

>>By nonyeb   (Sunday, 14 Dec 2008 03:47)

Me too. K. Crimson is not only him, but I can´t imagine it without him. They have changed all the others but I don´t think Fripp has gone. Or has he? No, don´t think so. By the way, which album do you like better? Red or Starless and the Bible black? I go for red.

Seen them Live about 5 Times, favorite was at the Majestic Theater in Detroit, it's an old movie theater with the seats taken out so it's standing room only. Got to stand about 5 feet in front of the band,Fripp , Belew & company were in rare form. In fact we are going to see A. Belew's Power Trio at the ARK tonight in Ann Arbor.

They ruined my (musical) life

>>By Adiz   (Sunday, 1 May 2011 15:49)

@Adiz: Ruined it because they were so good when you discovered them? Ha! That is a positive thing.
