Codeine

Forum

Is there anyone in to Codeine (the band, not the pill)... Seems to me this was/is one of the best bands of the and 80ties, begin 90ties.... taking the depression in their songs so far that they totally sobered up the music.. no thing unnecessary.. I think that it must have been one of those bands that ar more influential for other bands then known by the public.... sure that there music inspired loads of kids now making "Indie Rock" and what ever the slow core thing is called now....

Well Campking, it took a while for somebody to react, but i really love Codeine. Those slow, thundering, desperate songs! I think u're right about them being an influential band, as is slint. I believe there's still a lot of good band playing the music like codeine did, emocore is what they call it nowadays. Well, u'll probably will never react to what i've just written down, but hey, it's good to know there's people out there who love codeine as much as i do!

Surprise, surprise Mig29wrd! Someone's "listening" after all! I first heard the name of Chris Brokaw through Codeine. Then I noticed it in Come, another great band. I was so glad to see him play with Steve Winn a few years later. Look out for his latest band New Year. A great musician.

Well Thom, i,m very curious to hear Come and New Year... I'm going to look for it on the net right away! Maybe u already know this but u should really check out Bedhead as well, asspecially Transaction de Novo, such a good album! Another great band: A Minor Forest, saw them in Holland once, sooo good! Nice to meet people who are into good music as well! Love to hear more tips from other people! Cheers

Other greats next to The new year (formerly Bedhead) and Come, are the Shipping News: their latest album is great, a double vynil of pure slow core (as the critics have decided to call it), another is June of 44, though this is a bit more up tempo, and ofcourse there is LOW, their latest album can be considered uptempo for them, but that means nothing. Their songs are great, and are able to keep your attention during the whole 7 minutes where they keep building up the tension.... defenatly some nice bands that you should give a try.......

PS: A minor forrest members are now playing in other bands as 33.3, if I am not wrong.. also very nice to give a try...

Seam is one of my favorite bands.. I only miss their first album (I have a copy, buut that doesn't count). I think that seam might be one of the best things that have been ever missed the masses... their second album which is great just had a bit of a bad timing, coming out in the middle of the so called grunge wave and therefor being missed by 80% of the popjournalists..... Mogwai is oke too, but I prefer the other scottish band: Arab Strab, and maybe aereogramm..... both very athmospheric bands with great lyrics and well build up songs.....
