Children Of Bodom have never covered "Fear Of The Dark". The original was obviously an Iron Maiden song, and the only metal band to have covered it since (as far as I know) is the Italian group Graveworm. Perhaps it's been redone for a tribute album by someone else, but anyway, Children Of Bodom have never covered it. Here's their discography, if you're interested. (http://darklyrics.com/c/childrenofbodom.html). Their official site (http://www.cobhc.com/) is only showing touring information at the time of this post.

As for Children Of Bodom's new stuff, who liked the treatment they gave Britney Spear's "Oops I Did It Again"? Me, I thought it was hilarious.

yeah, I love that... I gotta say the bass-playing in the new album is fantastic - I reckon Alexi practised guitar for so long that he got to the speed he is now and Hennka's trying to catch up!

hey erm nyctophobia.... erm i think holminthecoal is right dude... i was listening to cob and my cousin (who i live with) was lstening to maiden at the same time and fear of the dark came on and im telling you they sound soo fucking similar... it is so a cover of it. i was in my room the iron maiden version came on and i was like hey that sounds familiar (im not a maiden fan so it wont have been from them) and then i thought id put some music on and low and behold theres the same bloody song but better on the album.
you cant always believe discographies. some of em are written by cocknoses.

i just saw Cob's gig in Nosturi aired on TV... that was quite weird, I thought that they'd never show metal stuff like that on proper tv channels... it was funny cos they claimed that Cob played songs such as "Sixbounder", "Bunch Me I Bleed" and "Living Dead" x) ... those arseholes don't got their facts quite together...

umm, yeah, I'd reckon cob is influenced by Iron Maiden as well... what metal band nowadays is not??

"I'd reckon cob is influenced by Iron Maiden as well... what metal band nowadays is not??" there are loads of metal bands which I don't believe are directly influenced by Maiden - mine for a start! But what's this about them covering Fear of the Dark? No they didn't...

well my band isnt influenced by maiden. But thats coz were not generally maiden fans so it would be pointless looking up to a band we dont listen to. I think its mainly bruce i dnt like just something about him that seems to put me against maiden. The band are great and the lyrics are also great but its just bruce... its the same with metallica the band is cool and the stuff they sing about is too but hetfield i want to hurt him.

no reports on bands are rarely correct it annoys me that the people they are informing about them know more than they do.

and if its not a cover then why are the lyrics the same and the riff extremely similar?

if its not a ligit cover its outright plagarism.

just to prove my point... ill tell you to get limewire and type in fear of the dark cover.... because the first thing that comes up is infact cob and im sat listening to it right now.....there are only three covers listed and cob is one of them repeatedly.

youll find the track on the live in tokyo album or on follow the reaper im not sure which but its definatley one of the two that i heard it orginally.

"there are loads of metal bands which I don't believe are directly influenced by Maiden - mine for a start! "

You are just saying that for the sake of disagreeing. Ask from a grin core band and they name IM their influnce, ask from a pop-metal band and they name IM their influence. Even My Chemical Romance claims Iron Maiden infleunced them! and I bet freakin Good Charlotte as well...

>>By Catri   (Saturday, 11 Feb 2006 12:30)

what and just because you can name two three bands that said they have means they all are... dont be so daft. Im not saying for the sake of disagreeing im syaing it as a matter of fact... not all bands are influenced by maiden how ever much you may want to believe they are.

theres more to some bands than that for a start.

(o fyi the song on the album is a different maiden song they covered not fear of the dark my mistake... but you can still find the song on limewire)

spookygoth, i kinda said what i said to Sk8a H8a... but yeah... oh my, let me put this straight then: every self-respecting post-Maiden metal band tributes Iron Maiden as their influence. yup yup.

"Even My Chemical Romance claims Iron Maiden infleunced them! and I bet freakin Good Charlotte as well..."
Excuse me? METAL!? They are NOT metal...

"every self-respecting post-Maiden metal band"
That's a pretty bold statement, especially as it's not true... you saying my band have no self-respect? Maiden may have influenced a fair few bands - that makes sense coz they achieved a high level of fame but to say that ALL "self-respecting post-Maiden metal band"s were influenced by them is just crudely wrong

"Even My Chemical Romance claims Iron Maiden infleunced them! and I bet freakin Good Charlotte as well..."
Mind, that was written before I made a more specific statement about what I meant, I did change my argument.

"you saying my band have no self-respect?"
Yes, indeed. I'm glad you got it.

"to say that ALL "self-respecting post-Maiden metal band"s were influenced by them is just crudely wrong"
Well, nothing is absolute of course but if you take that road you should not argument of anything.

>>By Catri   (Thursday, 23 Feb 2006 09:34)

Sooo what you're saying that Iron Maiden have had a wide influence, particularly on metal bands? Including Children of Bodom? Make your mind up what you're saying, like... and you're also insulting my band? To say that we have no self-respect just coz we weren't influenced by Iron Maiden is completely ridiculous

Sorry, you're just an easy target to annoy...

Am I?

In reference to the debate about COB covering fear of the dark... it was a song called trooper (or something like that) that maiden did that COB covered...was on scuzz last night.
