Musicley the man was a genius, all round artist, and probably still is. Although he was obviously on a spiritual search, a man of his intelligence should not have chosen one religion above another one.especially the muslim faith,Was he so insecure in himself. Is he realy so convinced in his belieth in islam?? I know he means well, and he is still trying to save the world, make it a better place to live in.Ipersonely think he came to a wrong conclusion, just no need for such a man to be turning to,or choosing any one religion. Ah well his writing, songs and voice were so very good, and very moving.I think his music trancends time indeed. He has several good web sites, for his old fans out there,me being one of them.ENJOY his music for EVER.

I'm a huge Cat Stevens fan, and always will be. Eventhough I hope that he will someday come back to his musical roots, I sinserly respect his religious values as I myself do. One thing I would ask of him is to come back and do one last tour for diehard fans. Either way though, he's amazing and I'll always love him...

Cat Stevens is by far one of the greatest musical talents that has ever come out a recording studio. I hope that one day Cat Stevens will come back to the music world and put on a final concert / tour for all his fans that still love his work. Music being the biggest part of my life, I feel Cat Stevens has as well.

He's the poet, the composer and the performer of my life. I hope our Iranian brother will be able to get his casettes and CD's from the shops in Iran soon. Being a muslim, I am not sure he has to stop expressing his feelings through lyrics, notes and various musical instruments for observing the religion, but it's up to him and I respect his choice. And I appreciate for those he made.

Cat stevens is one of the greatest singer/song writers of all time. He did not sing for fame, he sang from his heart. He still sings some islamic songs in English, some of them are excellent (For example: 'Handsome Yusuf' or 'God is the light').

Cat Stevens was/is simply the best! He will always be! And as Yusuf Islam, he is one of the worlds finest humanitarians ever! His charity works speaks volumes for this fine human being!

Cat Stevens is an incredibly gifted musician, and the world is a better place because of his humanitarian acts. As a muslim, I am so proud to have him as an embassador for what Islam really is--a religion of serenity, personal growth, charity, and wisdom. His music, both before and after his spiritual awakening, is truly an inspiration. I chose Islam because of it's appeal to an intellectual human being, and seeing Yusuf Islam choose the path I also have creates a bond that not only muslims share, but all people who are searching for spiritual peace and nirvana.

Yusuf Islam is coming back to music! That's the very refreshing news I've heard recently among all depressing news worldwide.

Cat Stevens let me down. As the equivalent of Bob Dylan (and some might say more tuneful) he exuded love for ALL mankind. So when he agreed with the fatwa on Salman Rushdie i.e. that someone should die, just because they disagreed or mocked a religion, made me do a double take. If you have a strong hold on your faith, no matter what anyone says about it, surely you just ignore them? I am a humanist and think we should in the words of that great poet (who's name escapes me at the moment) 'We must love one another or die' Maybe someone out there can tell me who the poet was?

>>By Stix   (Sunday, 28 Nov 2004 15:43)

Yeah, I agree with Stix. It became difficult for me to reconcile Cats music with his rather ignorant response to the Rushdie fatwah. I could not believe that a man who proffessed such love for humanity could have such a low level reaction to the situation. It is with some relief that I hear that he is back-peddling on his original stance, and proffessing a kind of ignorance that , whilst not excusing him, at least shows some growth within the stifling parameters of this intolarant belief system. I hope he has reconnected with the love in his heart.

I discovered Cat Stevens through Harold and Maude and because I was looking for the Songs from that movie I bought some of his CDs. And they're really good! Good sing-alongs ;)

Who can believe that Cat Stevens & Carly Simon were once in a relationship together? Well, it's true!
